"Mommy," Mandy walked over and quickly linked both of her arms into her mother's, "Don't nag at Qing Qing, already."

She pointed her chin at Shao Yan, "Let's not scare your daughter in law away," and then pretended to whisper in her ears albeit loudly, "She has not even entered our family's door yet."

Shao Yan was looking really nervous, and that was why Mandy tried to ease the air around them by teasing her own mother. But upon hearing what Mandy had said, Shao Yan could not help but feel more shy. The blush on her cheeks turned deeper red.

Li Xiqing glanced at her embarrassed face while holding back his smile. He then moved to his father, "Pa!" And wrapped him into a brief hug, and Father Li patted his back in return.

After he let him go, Father Li faced the still red-as-apple Shao Yan and gave her a gentle smile.

"Uncle, how are you doing?" She greeted him with confidence, "Nice to meet you."

"En, good good," Father Li nodded a little, "Nice to meet you too!"

Initially, Father Li wanted to shake her hands, but he was afraid of making her more awkward, so he quickly glanced at Li Xiqing and said, "Xiqing, where do you park? Is it far?"

Mandy also chimed in, "Oh! That's right, I think we should go now or we will be stuck in the rush hour traffic."

Shao Yan nodded and was about to reach her hands forward to take the luggage from Li Xiqing's hand so he could push the cart.

"Let's go now," Mother Li tapped her shoulder and Shao Yan glanced over, "Come, Yan Yan, we can chat, let the men handle the luggage."

----------

Father Li took the initiative to sit at the front, so the ladies could sit comfortably at the back.

Shao Yan sat in the middle with Mother Li on her left and Mandy on her right side. Luckily, this car had a very spacious rear seat, Shao Yan felt a little less awkward with the situation.

"Mommy, we will go back to the apartment first to put all of your luggage, and freshen up and then we will go eat dinner," Mandy started to say.

Mother Li nodded before letting out a small sigh, "This body is getting old. I can no longer take a fifteen hour flight from US to Shanghai, very tiring." She balled her hand into a fist and started to gently pat her own arm to relieve soreness.

"If you don't mind," Shao Yan, who had been listening on the side while keeping her silent, suddenly chimed in, "I have a medicinal ointment that you can rub on skin, or drip into the bathtub and soak in it."

She quickly added, "It is specifically to relieve muscle soreness."

Mother Li smiled in return, "Thank you, I will gladly try that."

----------

"Alright, Ma, we will pick you up in one hour and then we will go for dinner," Li Xiqing handed over a set of keys to his mother, "These are the keys for this house."

Mother Li nodded, and waved her hands, "I know, go have a rest, don't get too tired."

The three of them, Mandy, Shao Yan and Li Xiqing had just dropped all the luggage into the empty apartment in their building. This unit was rented by Mandy and Axel for the Li elders to stay while they were in Shanghai.

They were now standing by the foyer to bid them goodbye. Father Li stood at the side; his hands were folded at his back as he watched the children putting on their shoes.

"Don't worry about us, we will freshen up," He added, "Xiqing, Xilin, Yan Yan, all of you have a rest too."

"En," Mandy hummed her acknowledgement, "We will leave now, Daddy. Don't forget to lock the door."

----------

About an hour later, when the three of them had just stepped out of the elevator and were about to walk to their parent's unit, they saw that Father Li and Mother Li were already waiting outside their own apartment door.

"Huh?" Mandy was surprised, "Mommy, Daddy, why are you outside?"

Father Li smiled at her, "We also just stepped out," he assured his daughter.

Mother Li, on the other hand, took the chance to tease him, "Your father, he was too eager to eat authentic Shanghainese food again. He rushed with everything he was doing just now."

Mandy laughed at the jest, she linked her arm around her father's arm like a child, "Daddy, I will bring you to your favorite restaurant now," and then she lightly tugged his arm, "Are you excited?"

Father Li gave her a side eye and patted the back of her hand, "Of course, I am. I trust my daughter to have a good taste similar to mine." Mandy was pleased hearing his praise, so she awarded him with a sweet smile of her own.

The car ride to the restaurant was smooth and enjoyable. Mother Li and Father Li asked a lot of questions about how Shanghai was doing nowadays. And they also took the chance to tell their own story about Shanghai during their time.

Without them realizing, they finally arrived in the restaurant sooner than they had expected.

From the outside, the building looked like a small courtyard style house, instead of a place for business.

At the front of the building was a stone gate in a shape of a half moon; and standing at the corner of the moon gate were two women dressed in traditional Chinese Cheongsam clothing.

When they saw guests walking over, the two ladies elegantly made a small bow, "Welcome to Eight Treasures Delicacy."

"Reservation under Li Xilin for five people," Mandy said once she stood in front of the front desk.

One of the ladies scanned the tablet in her hands, and then she glanced at her associate, "Table 52."

The other woman nodded at her words and faced Mandy again, "This way, please."

The guests had to enter through the moon gate and walk to the main door entrance to enter the restaurant. While walking over, they would be treated to a view of serene traditional Chinese gardens.

The owner of the building wanted every guest at every dining time to be able to enjoy this exquisite view, so he requested the gardener to install garden lights so everyone could still see the greeneries and flowers all over the garden.

"Mm, the Tong descendants really did not disappoint us," Mother Li nodded her appreciation at some of the blossoming peony flowers.

"Yan Yan, you may not know," Mother Li, who was walking next to Shao Yan, started to recall, "but Father Li used to help Mrs. Tong to care for this garden."

Shao Yan was surprised at her revelations. She was still thinking of what to say, but all of a sudden, Father Li had chuckled at Mother Li's comment.

And then he continued her story, "I was only ten of twelve at the time. Our family old house was nearby, so we visited this house a lot when I was a kid because they had the biggest garden in the area that time."

"All the kids played together from sunrise to sunset, and Mrs. Tong always served us the most delicious food every time," Father Li's face turned solemn as he reminisced about his younger time.
