Anyway, the alarm's song is real, its on the spoiler

Spoiler

Song that I don't know how to embedd as thumbnail

[collapse]

"The darkness of gyatt falls around my soul " The alarm started blasting at full blast.

It was a popular song that had gotten around recently, a cover of a popular video game sung by some random purple girl on the internet. It was quite good even if she didn't know what the song meant.

"The Nerizzler within loses control " She mostly used it as an alarm because the high-pitched tone of the girl singing it was high enough to wake her up.

"Bau Bau it out, Bau Bau it out " The alarm was about to start going nuts, so I really needed to move.

Today was an important day, it was the first day I would attend the MPI, it wasn't the first day of the school season, but the first day I would go.

This was important, the first day had been yesterday, but I wasn't supposed to join at that time, since my scholarship was...special, to say the least.

I was told who I would be sharing a room and what would be required of me, this was a mission that required me to train most of my early life to master the gift of Magic.

I was given access to training and magic artifacts beyond what most would have, why? Because I was to share a room with the daughter of [The American Crusader] and [The Stardust Explorer].

So the number two most powerful magic caster in the world used her magic to find who would share a room with the daughter of those two and gave her a choice.

Either bend the knee and be their spy, or get replaced.

Of course, my parents bent the knee, when the Italians come knocking you listen, what could we do? Really, nothing.

[The American Crusader] rarely ever left [Avalon] in the last decade, and it was easier to get the [Juggernaut] to speak than to speak with [The Stardust Explorer].

So I studied under the watch of [The Prophet] and [The Warlock], became as good as a space mage as I could, and pledged to be as loyal as possible without making a [Geass] contract.

It seemed that trying to make one was too close to risking everything near the presence of the daughter of the top one and two heroes, not even the [Warlock] and [Prophet] dared to go that far.

Of course, they still kidnapped my parents and didn't let me see them six months before the first day of classes, that wasn't beyond what they would do.

I wasn't under any false impression that I would ever see them, the Italians didn't do halfsies, and if they were alive then chances were that they had already sold me. If they didn't sell me...well they were probably dead, or in a mine in an unmarked location.

Was it callous? Yes, but that was life in Zephyiria, we knew where we lived and what would happen to us if we caught the attention of the true bosses around.

And mother didn't raise a dumb girl, I Aurelia Vitellius wasn't a dumb girl. No, I knew exactly why I wasn't killed or brainwashed, everyone knew [The Stardust Explorer] had a beef against mind tampering, she was the successor of the mother of magical girls, and so they all had the same standards.

So I couldn't be compromised, that was my only option really, to try and get the friendship of her daughter and hope they would take me under their wing. The Italians knew I would do this of course, but that was why they taught me as best as they could, just so that I would want to be under their tutelage.

The spells and artifacts they used to measure my [Affinity] gave them the full name of my [Soulscape] too, so they had some advantage over me already.

My [Affinity] was [The One Who Traveled Towards The Shadows], ominous? Perhaps, I feared that I would be [Tainted] when they said its name, but it seemed that it was a [Space] and [Travel] affinity.

Closer to the one [The Stardust Traveler] had, or what [The Prophet] thought she should have, no one was sure what her [Affinity] was beyond one that allowed her to travel all around the world without limit.

So yes, I was trained by the best space affinity magical girls the money could buy, and all I had to do was be late, become the best friend available to a rich girl, and make sure [The Stardust Explorer] wanted to save me from the evil clutches from the Italians.

Easy.

Or so that was my plan, at the end of the day...A plan never survives the first encounter with enemies.

"Aurelia Vitellius?" A pink-haired girl asked as soon as I arrived at the MPI.

Weird, as far as the Intel the Italians gave me, no member of the student council looked like her.

"Yes?" But here she was, outside the reception area for new students.

"Please follow me, we need to go through some paperwork to justify your late arrival." And like that, the pink-haired girl started walking toward the park at the back of the MPI.

I knew it was in that direction since part of my previous preparation was knowing the full map of the MPI, so this girl was guiding me towards an isolated part of the MPI, had the Italians prepared something last minute?

"Sure, do you need my ID or something?" This was of course a trick question, if she worked for the Italians she wouldn't need it. If she worked for the student council she would need it.

"No need, you [are] Aurelia Vitellius after all, that is all I need." Answered in an even tone the girl.

"I don't think I got your name, but you already know mine." Even if she was working for the Italians she was too creepy, also her accent wasn't the right one, had they trained her into a different one to make sure no one could track her back into us?

"I'm Rossalina Singh, now stop talking, we are almost there." The pink-haired girl said as she turned to look at me and then continued moving forward.

That was the look of an assassin, of a murderer, the same look someone would give to an ant or a vagrant, not even [The Prophet] gave me that look, was this really one working for the Italians?

But that was the only possible answer, no one else among [The Twelve] would dare to do something like this, no one was crazy enough to do something like this, and [The Prophet] had investigated all the 36 students in this group.

It was weird that we had 39 students instead of 40 already, but she had said that it sometimes happened, someone wouldn't come or they would quit at the last second.

"Finally, just to confirm, I need to see your ID for a second to make sure you are indeed in room#346E." The pink-haired girl said.

She needed to confirm the room I was in?

Not my identity, not who I was, but the room?

"Sure, here." I said passing the ID, this was getting weirder by the second.

I wasn't sure what gave it away, was it the look in the pink-haired girl?

The way her lips curled into a smile?

The feeling of mana being weaved?

The insatiable bloodlust?

It was probably the last, but no matter what it was, "[Quick escape]! [Expand Domain]! [Labyrinth]!" I quickly casted the spells from the spell nodes within my soulscape.

The first spell propelled me in a preset direction away from my current spot, the speed was preset at the maximum speed my body would tolerate, the downside was that it would tell my body too much and didn't cover that much space.

The second spell would expand the area where I could affect the world more easily, it was usually something staple for high-ranking magical girls, but the artifact allowed me to cast it.

The last one would materialize a labyrinth to contain an enemy and allow me some time to rest and prepare, it was a double-edged sword since I was also trapped here.

But it would prevent the other side from attacking me, it couldn't hold my enemy inside since that was stuff for higher-ranking magical girls, but it would mean my enemy had fewer ways to attack me, so long I stayed inside she couldn't kill me in one go.

And she had tried to kill me, there was no doubt of that.

"Any reason you tried to cast [Killer Blades]?" I asked the other girl, that was a dangerous brutish spell, it was mostly [Affinity]-less, it didn't have an element stuck to it, and it was just crude mana shaped into a blade, but it worked quite well, even if you needed to cast it several times to kill someone,, but it would not leave any evidence.

"What gave me away?" Asked the other girl, her tone was even, as if speaking of the weather instead of murdering someone.

"Too much bloodlust, also while your spell is well hidden, you still leak some of your emotions of annoyance at me." The other girl was still looking around her with those dead eyes.

Didn't she feel anything at all?

"So, why do you want to kill me? Did someone piss off the Italians?" I needed to escape, maybe I could buy some time till someone noticed my absence?

"I just need to make sure you don't claim the room, I have a need to use it, it was good that you arrived late, otherwise it would be harder to get you." The pink-haired girl said.

She only wanted the room? She didn't work for the Italians or anyone?

"You expect me to believe you decided to antagonize the Italians for only that reason? To believe you don't know whose daughter is that girl?" She was nuts.

"I have no need to know who is Elizabeth's parents." The other girl said, "And really, I only need to make sure you don't claim that room, I have no need to know any other thing than that."

And like that the girl left the labyrinth, I could still feel her though, she was on the outside of the labyrinth, was she going to wait there?

It wasn't a smart choice, someone would notice the mana leakage...dang it.

"[Hide Pressence], [Hide Mana], [Hide Intent], [Hide aura], [Hide Evidence]-" That girl was nuts, she was casting all kinds of warding around the area, and soon enough no one would even notice it was here unless they purposely walked here.

And since no one would ever walk through here without meaning it...She was stuck here with the psycho.

"We can make a deal-" I started saying only for her to turn her attention towards the opening into the labyrinth.

"[Acid Spray], [Acid Deluge], [Toxic Fumes]."

She started casting the spells and fed those into the labyrinth opening, she would never fill the place like that, it was impossible, my space [Affinity] granted me extra space into the spell.

This place was expanded as far as possible and there was no way she would be able to fill it unless she had the correct [Affinity], and the power behind those wasn't the right one.

"[Gust]." She cast creating a current of wind that pushed the fumes and liquid into the labyrinth.

Was she trying to...suffocate me?

That...That...crap.

"Nothing personal, but I do need you to go away," The psychopath girl said, still no sign of remorse in her as she fed mana into the spells that would suffocate me.

The acid would never make it to where I was, and the fumes wouldn't either, but if I couldn't guide new O2 into this place...It would be just a matter of time till I got suffocated by the Carbon Dioxide.

My spell was designed to create the labyrinth into the earth as that was more secure, that also meant that the opening was above the ground level while this place was below the ground level.

"Why?" I couldn't help but ask, why would she go that far? To kill someone in the MPI? She was mad, no way she could get away with this!

There were spells that made sure everyone's fate was accounted for!

The [Prophet] used them to make sure everything would work! No way she could do this and go scot-free!

"I need to room with Elizabeth, it will be somewhat annoying to have only 43 students instead of 44, but we will survive." The pink-haired girl said, what?

43? If she was killing me then that meant that they were originally 44?

But I was the number 39 student! From where had the other four come from?!?

Had...had the prophet failed? Impossible!

No one could escape from [Fate] scrying! The only one to ever be able to escape something like this would be [The Stardust Explorer] or [The American Crusader]!

Not even [The Prophet] was free from [Fate's] Shackles!

And this girl nonchalantly implied there were four extra students?

"You are lying," I said as my spell informed me of dangerous substances as I redirected more away from my spot. "My class only has 39 students counting me on it."

"Our class had 44 students counting you. Here." The pink-haired girl said throwing a paper into the dimensional opening.

I didn't touch it nor teleported near me, instead warped it as far away from me as possible, I could read it thanks to the scrying I had anyway, and sure enough, the list had 44 names.

On it, I recognized 39 names and four were foreign, names I never had read or heard about.

Suzuki Akira, Watanabe Rena, Michael Shepherd, and Rossalina Singh.

The first tree was unknown, but the fourth...It was the name the pink-haired girl had given.

"Why do you need my room? How did you cheat [Fate]?" I stopped paying attention to that piece of paper and focused on the entry.

In there, the pink-haired girl kept her blank stare, "Because Elizabeth Starbright showed me a possibility, the possibility of finding [Color] in this gray world." She answered.

What? Was she mad? Color? THIS B#TCH WAS KILLING ME FOR MERE COLOR?!? WHAT DID THAT EVEN MEAN?

“As for [Fate]? I don't know what you speak of, there is no such a thing called [Fate] in this world." The pink-haired girl said, she was defying [Fate] and didn't know about it? "Also, you may want to pay attention to what I gave you."

What? But the piece of paper was as far away from me as possible, it mattered not if that was a trap or not, it would not affect me.

"[Burst]." The pink-haired girl said and then a wave of mana burst inside the labyrinth, the labyrinth trembled for a few seconds, that should be impossible, and then the connection with it....frayed.

That...shouldn't be possible, the labyrinth was tied to my [Soulscape], nothing could affect it, only [Soul] spells could, but that was something only those at the higher end of [Healing] could ever touch.

It didn't matter if someone was talented or not, to touch upon that domain one needed to study and at some point even mutilate souls to understand them, it was that or having your own soul mutilated.

I had been given the option to study it of course, but it was deemed too dangerous (And painful) so I didn't.

And this girl could do that?

She truly was a psychopath, "You will regret doing this." I said as I felt the connection to my spell dissipate, now it would stay semi-permanently till my soul left.

"I will not...But if I do I will welcome that feeling," The psychopath girl said, "I will welcome the [Feel] of regret if that is something new."

Well, that was ominous as hell, I would need to use one of the trumps here?

The connection to the outside was broken, I could close it, but that would expose me to the girl, I couldn't control where what she threw inside would go, so even if she left the entrance would be full of dangerous material.

"[Under this day, under this night...I pledge upon the stars...May my Soul remain, may my magic stay strong, prevent entry upon this place to the one that caused my demise...Welcome only the one that can bring justice upon my demise...Allow the Inheritor to my will to make contact with me...May the wish of my soul come true.]" This was a [Wish] made using my [Soulscape] as a mediator, would it do something?

Hard to tell, but at the very least whatever that girl wanted to achieve would harder with the idea of my corpse on the school grounds and her not being able to dispose of me.

Heh, at least the Italians wouldn't get anything out of it either, that would be a double win. I had evidence of their tampering with me too, and since most of my luggage was with me too. So while the MPI wouldn't have evidence of me logging an entry, they wouldn't have evidence of me leaving either.

This would have to do...

"So can you deal with this thing?" That voice woke my consciousness back from its slumber.

Was I alive? Did I survive somehow?

...No, this wasn't me. It was the [Genie] of the [Labrynth] that [I] had made before dying.

Then why was I awake?

"I think....?" This second voice was different than the first one, it was...alluring, like a siren's call.

Seductive and enticing, as if it had something I needed, something [I] wanted, a few seconds after that voice spoke, something [Penetrated] the labyrinth, it permeated [Everything]. It saturated everything around and soon enough the feeling of something [Embracing] [Me] was all that I knew.

I wasn't sure who or what it was, but something within [Me] called to it, it was...whatever this [Pressence] was it was seductive, like if [I] wanted it would look like an angel coming from heaven...

Or If I wanted it would be a devil from hell, either way, something happened.

Notice:

The [Devourer] is at your door, she wants to [Consume] you.

Do you wish to fight back against it?

Y/N

[Note: If you don't fight it, the [Devourer] will [Inherit] everything you had, and you will be trapped within her till she either surrenders your soul to the circle of transmigration or she gives your [Soul] to another living entity.

It is possible that she [Devours] your soul completely erasing you.

Care is advised.]

That was weird, blue screens? What had happened after [I] died?

Either way, the [Will] of [Me] was obvious enough, this girl looked like the daughter of [■■■ ■■■■■■■■ ■■■■■■■■] and [■■■ ■■■■■■■■ ■■■■■■■■] so the answer was obvious.

Yes.

And after that?

The [Shadows] embraced me as [I] turned into mana and sank into [Her], it was... beautiful, her [Shadow] was a whole city, hundred upon hundreds of other [Souls] already here...or not. Were those reptiles?

Looking down upon myself I found my body transformed into one of them, soon enough [I] no longer was [Aurelia Vitellius's Vestige], but a [Shadow Dragon] waiting for the call from her [Mistress]. The call to go into the world as a loyal subject.

I no longer was Aurelia Vitellius, but another [Shadow Dragon] waiting for the call of the [Inheritor of Shadows].

A [Shadow Dragon] waiting for the call of Elizabeth Starbright.

And while [I] probably would wish for revenge, that wasn't [Me] anymore, not really.

[I] now only wished to serve my [Mistress] as best as I could.

Italians? Who cares

Rossalina Singh? I only felt thankful for what she did for me, she allowed me to serve my [Mistress].

Elizabeth Starbright? My [Loyalty] was to her, [I] may have wished for revenge against Rossalina Singh, but that no longer mattered to [Me].

The only thing I wanted to know...Was how many [Souls] had my [Mistress] consumed? Was every [Shadow Dragon] waiting for its turn also a [Soul]? Or was I special?

Maybe if the [Mistress] summoned me next I would know.

A girl could only hope.
