6 months have passed since that day. In those 6 months Laura and Eleonora have trained day after day, practicing everything from swordplay to using magic. Laura has gotten stronger and faster with every passing day but she's still not as strong as some of the colosseum's top ranked fighters like Royce and Groel.
In this 6 month span Laura has only fought twice. The first time was against some random fighter that nobody really cared about causing dissatisfaction within the audience at the time and causing Roderick to be criticized for having Laura fight with someone who wasn't ranked in the top 10 and giving the fans a bad show.
It was only natural. After Laura thrashed Vannix who was ranked in the top 10 prior to his injury and forcing him to retire the audience was expecting Laura to be thrown into the top 10 without question. So for her next fight 3 months later Roderick had Laura fight again. This time against the 6th ranked fighter, a man named Dantone.
Dantone was a short man, even shorter than Laura. He looked like he was in his early 20s and had a small beard. He wore a black coat with red lining and matching black pants. Even though he was the 6th ranked fighter he was no match for Laura causing an anticlimactic fight. Now less than a year after being purchased by Roderick Laura had become the 6th ranked fighter in the colosseum. In 5th was Eleonora, 4th was Kana; a woman who specialized in ice magic, 3rd ranked was the Harbinger; a man who wore nothing but heavy black armor but for some reason used throwing stars to fight, in 2nd was Royce and in first was Groel.
No big tournaments had been held since the battle of the top and the colosseum had only been doing their weekly fights between lower ranked fighters with the occasional top ranked fight. However, that would change today.
Early morning in the arena, just like usual Eleonora and Laura were training as they did every day for the past 6 months. Today however there was one difference. There was an air of excitement throughout the colosseum. Some of the other fighters seemed to be having a very lively chat. As Laura and Eleonora ran through their practice routines she could hear a voice behind her.
"LAURA! ELEONORA!"
Both women turned around to see a familiar figure running towards them. It was Raul. As soon as he got to them he hunched over panting for breath. The two girls waited for him to start speaking.
"Did you two hear the rumor?"
"What rumor?" Laura asks as she puts down her sword.
"There's a rumor going around that someone really important is coming to discuss something with Roderick. Though it's only a rumor and we don't know who or how important said person is."
"Is that it, just a rumor?" Eleonora asks.
"Yeah that's right."
"Things must be really boring around here If some rumor has got everyone on edge like this."
"Fair enough."
"Say Raul how bout another sparing match?" Laura asks Raul.
"Oh god no Laura. It'd probably be over in even less time than last time we spared. It wouldn't even count as training."
Laura gives Raul's reply a chuckle causing Raul to get embarrassed and run away.
"Well I guess that's enough training for today don't you think Laura?"
"Fine by me Eleonora."

Despite being so highly ranked she's still not allowed to exit the colosseum. Really, the only things that changed in the past 6 months were that she'd grown taller and that she'd turned 13.
After 3 months of training with Eleonora; Groel took it upon himself to train Laura in magic. He has tried to teach her how to clone herself like Royce but she couldn't get the hang of it. Despite that she still tries. Demon's had a high affinity for magic due to the high concentration of unfiltered mana within them. So day after day Laura would train in the morning with Eleonora and train with Groel in the evening.
Sitting in his office after the sun had set; Roderick sat scribbling his signature onto papers. As he finished signing one paper one of the guards from the front entrance came to inform him that some guests had arrived.
"Very well, bring them here please."
The guard bowed and left.
"Are you sure about this Roderick?" Olivia; Roderick's secretary asks him with a concerned tone.
"They're not leaving me with much choice now are they? Personally I had hoped they wouldn't show up."
His guests had basically strong-armed him into this meeting. Normally he'd be elated to have a meeting with people of their standing but right now he felt cheated.
A few minutes later the guard had returned.
"I brought them sir."
Roderick heaved a heavy sigh. "Alright let them in."
The guard stepped inside and held the door open. Six big men in fancy suits entered the room, they stood in two rows while keeping a walkway in the middle. All 6 got on one knee and bowed with one hand across their chest.
"It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance Mister Roderick. I hope I'm not interrupting anything important."
Walking in from behind the men were two women. One was tall and thin; she had long blonde hair tied back in a ponytail. With a sword at her hip and a serious attitude she came off as a cool beauty. The other was a short girl wearing a white veil that covered her entire face. Her dress was quite fancy but it also looked easy to move in.
"You're not interrupting anything, in fact I was eagerly awaiting your arrival. Please have a seat. Would you like something to drink?"
"No thank you Mister Roderick."
The smaller girl sits down but the taller blonde one stands at her side.
"Please excuse my companion, she can be a bit... protective sometimes."
"That's fine. No need to worry."
Roderick's heart is pounding from the nerves, he's sweating buckets.
"Now then, you're here to set up some fights for your birthday correct?"
"That is correct Mister Roderick. I've taken an interest in your colosseum and I really want to see some of your top fighters fight."
"While we don't have a problem with putting on some fights for your birthday festival I would need to know who you want to see fight. Do you have a particular fighter in mind?"
"Yes I do, I would like to see the half demon Laura fight someone."
"Just someone, like anyone?"
"Anyone who's higher ranked than her would suffice."
"My lady if I may interject?"
The blonde woman standing beside her pipes up for the first time.
"If you have an idea you may."
"Your birthday is going to be a huge festival so why not just have Roderick put on a tournament similar to the battle of the top tournament the colosseum held half a year ago?"
The girl sitting down claps her hands together.
"That's a splendid idea. While I am interested in seeing the half demon in action it would be pointless to see her fight only once. A tournament would be perfect.

"While I can put on a tournament for you I afraid that Groel will be unavailable for it due to a personal matter."
"That's fine. In the end I'm only interested in watching Laura."
With the first matter of business settled Roderick reluctantly moves on to the topic he had been dreading.
"Now then onto the next matter. Your highness you intend to purchase Laura?"
After her magic training for Groel; Laura was heading back towards her room with Avery in tow when they came across a procession of people in suits walking toward them. Laura paid them no mind and walked past them turning her head to look at them as she passed she spotted a person in the middle wearing a white veil looking at her.
Laura stopped and turned back to the procession as they were walking away.
"Hey Avery, do you know anything about what that was?"
"Sorry, I have no idea."
"Well that might have been Roderick's rumored guest. So perhaps its okay. I should go ask Roderick about it."
Roderick had just seen off his important guests. Sweat dripping onto the ground with his breathing heavy; that meeting took at least 5 years off his life. Or so he feels like. A few minutes later he hears a knock on the door.
"Who is it?"
"It's Laura. I need to ask you a question, is it okay if I come in?"
"Sure, enter."
Laura enters and closes the door behind her.
"Is something wrong?"
"I was wondering what that procession of people was about."
"Oh is that all? Don't worry they were my guests. They came here to discuss some things with me."
"Oh good. I thought I'd run it by you just in case."
After Laura leaves Roderick stares down at his desk. On his desk is a contract and as he looks at the contract his anger keeps getting more and more intense. A contract to sell Laura to the Princess of the kingdom of Dawn; Vivian Dawn.
