—Hades Realm—

Having been alerted by one of the assault team members that the plan had failed, Hades was preparing to clean up their mess. Prioritizing the removal of any traces back to himself meant the Grim Reapers and House Sitri’s capital needed to be erased. Knowing that this would certainly cause quite a stir among the Devils and other Factions, Hades would need to lay low for a while afterward till it eventually blew over. Feeling no remorse over the innocent bystander blood he was about to spill, all he cared about was keeping his activities hidden from Zeus and the others.

“Lord Hades, are you sure it is wise to move out so blatantly?”, Zeno said trying to reason with him, “The other Factions likely have noticed our incursion into the Devil’s territory. If we claim that Pluto and the other Reapers acted alone out of revenge, we may avoid this conflict altogether. Showing up yourself will only solidify that this attack was orchestrated by you.”

“We are beyond that now, I am concerned that Pluto is not responding to my calls. If he is captured, the Devils have ways of taking the information out of him. While it will be a great loss to lose him, this was the inevitable outcome of his failure.”, Hades said adjusting his Titan Armor, “I will not risk my future plans on sentimental feelings.”

“Still though, what if the other Factions or Cole acts on this clear breach of the ceasefire? While you are among the strongest beings in our universe, there are others that rival you in terms of power. They may intervene for fear their factions may be next.”, Zeno pointed out, “You saw what Cole did to Lucifer and the Devils, he massacred them!”

“Haha, always worrying about my safety.”, Hades chuckled as he pulled out his Bident and Cronos’ Scythe, “Interference from the other factions is very unlikely, the Devils have no relations with any other factions. Lucifer’s actions ruined any chances of that for the next five to seven hundred years. As for Cole, given his recent massacre of their kin, I am certain he will not be there. Is there anything else you are concerned about?”

Realizing that nothing he could say would change his mind, Zeno accepted that this was out of his hands now. Hoping that his Lord’s estimations were accurate, as one mistake could be the death of them all, Zeno pulled out his Scythe and followed his master to the Teleportation Chamber. Falling in line with the other Reapers and soldiers, Hades gave everyone their marching orders.

“As you are almost certainly aware, Pluto has yet again failed me miserably. His blunder this time has exposed my involvement with the Rizevim which is problematic for our future plans.”, Hades informed them, “We are going to House Sitri’s capital to erase all of the Devils there along with Pluto’s team, no exceptions. If you let one of those flea-bitten mongrels escape, I will personally kill you for insubordination. In case you have forgotten, if I get caught, all of you will be dragged down with me.”

Making sure they understood what was on the line here, Hades began preparing to teleport his group to the capital.

—Underworld—

“Damn it all!”, Pluto roared as he launched himself at the Devils.

Knowing that he was a dead man no matter the outcome of today, the Reaper had nothing left to lose. Wanting to take as many of them down with him as possible, he went for the enemies he thought he had the best chance of subduing. Recognizing that he was coming for them, all of the Devils bombarded him with several devastating spells. Weaving around most of them and cutting through the rest, Pluto closed in on Zekram.

Wanting to kill the Devil with the most sway among their kin, Pluto whipped his scythe around and threw his momentum into an upward swing. Knowing he could not get a barrier up in time, shielded his chest and throat with his arms.

“Father!”, Venelana screamed.

“Die!!”, Pluto spatted as his blade cut through the floor.

Bracing himself for the impact, Zekram watched a red bolt of lightning slam into the back of Pluto’s head. Losing control of his limbs momentarily, the Reaper missed his target and fell toward Venelana. Angry that he had attacked her father first, she pointed her explosive spell straight at his face. Quickly trying to put a barrier of his own up, Pluto discovered that his magic was suddenly not working anymore.

Blasting him at point-blank range, a massive fireball blew all the windows out in the room. Hearing the explosion from below, Sirzechs turned back to see where it came from. Noticing that it had come from Lilith’s Room, he assumed someone had managed to get past them during the fighting. Thinking that his lover and parents might be critically injured, Sirzechs aura surged outward with his increasing anger.

“You bastards!”, Sirzechs howled in agony as he eviscerated the Grim Reapers he was fighting with a pulse of Destructive Aura, “Mother!! Father!! Grayfia!!”

“We are…okay!”, Venelana coughed as Lord Phenex blew the dust away, “That was my spell, it was a bit too much power.”

Slamming into the ground nearby, Pluto skipped across the grass several times before coming to a stop. Barely tanking the blast, he was in very bad shape and was certainly in no condition to fight anymore. Looking around for his scythe, the Reaper discovered Cole had it back up in the room. Tossing it in his storage for safekeeping, he jumped down and joined the two Super Devils. Assuring them that everyone was fine in the room, they turned their attention toward Pluto.

“Just…kill me…”, Pluto said accepting his death, “I have lost.”

Happy to oblige him, Sirzechs was about to erase him when a surge of magical power drew our attention. Recognizing the signs of a powerful teleportation spell, Cole told the soldiers to be on their guard. Seeing Hades among the people being teleported, he did not want them to charge in and get themselves killed.

“Lord Sitri, evacuate your citizens at once!”, Cole ordered turning back to Lord Sitri, “This is no longer a minor incursion, Lord Hades is coming here and appears ready for a fight.”

“Damn that son of a bitch.”, Lord Lucifuge hissed seeing his figure as well, “This cannot be good.”

Leaving Lady Phenex and Lord Lucirage behind to guard Lilith, the rest of the nobles descended to the ground waiting for Hades to arrive. Taking Cole’s warning to heart, Lord Sitri ordered his men to sound the alarm bells to alert the populace. Following their commander's order, the troops began flying off to the bell towers.

“I think not.”, Hades said releasing a wave of black aura at the men.

Seeing the attack coming for them, the troops attempted to block it but found their magic was not strong enough to do so. Just before the aura hit them, Cole stepped in to save them.

“Absolute Cancel!”, Cole said casting his antimagic to destroy the spells, “Keep going, I will cover you!”

Realizing that Cole was actually here, Hades and Zeno were taken aback by his unexpected presence. Stopping his Reapers from dispersing, the God of the Underworld asked why Cole was there. Based on what he knew, Cole had no reason to be here, especially alongside the Devils.

“They needed assistance healing a certain individual that your foolish servant nearly killed.”, Cole remarked, “On top of cutting her gut open, he used a poison that effects only Devils on her. I suppose we have Rizevim to thank for that one…”

“He is certainly a foolish servant of mine…or rather was one.”, Hades said pointing an index finger at him, “You have my blessing to die.”

Seeing a black sphere appear on Hades’ fingertip, the orb shot forward and struck Pluto in the forehead. Instantaneously the skeletal man violently exploded into a dense cloud of atoms. Briefly watching his soul get pulled down into Hades’ Realm, Cole refocused on Hades himself and reevaluated his assumption of the God of the Underworld’s power.

‘He uses flashy spells instead of ones that just get the job done. The fool flaunts his abnormally large pool of mana by using it this way.’, Cole thought studying his Magic Vein layout.

“Lord Cole, do we really need to fight one another? Surely we can come to some sort of arrangement to avoid a confrontation.”, Hades offered, “Whatever the Devils are offering you, I will double to avoid a conflict with you. Your fight with Lucifer left a giant hole in my realm so I would like to avoid further damage.”

“We have not actually come to an agreement yet on the cost of my services.”, Cole remarked in a casual tone.

Seeing what Hades was getting at, Lord Bael and Phenex knew they had to act. Hades had far more mythical items than they currently did, and he also had far more wealth than them. Scrambling to come up with a respectable offer, they knew it had to be enough to warrant fighting Lord Hades with them. Not wanting her kin to suffer further losses, Grayfia stepped up to offer Cole something.

“Lord Cole, I know you may despise our kind but I will give myself to you for your aid.”, Grayfia said as she knelt down, “No matter what torments you wish to impart on me, I will do so for my family and our people.”

Watching Sirzechs glare at him, Cole was honestly surprised that was all he did. He was well aware that the two were seeing each other in private, and that her offer really hurt him.

“Miss Lucifage, I do not despise Devils…I just think many of you are idiots.”, Cole admitted in a blunt manner, “As for your offer, while it is appealing I make it a point to not ruin happy couples. I am well aware that Sirzechs and you are seeing each other in private, there is no reason for me to split you both up. Even if it is for your people, do not throw away the ones you love in life. They are precious and should be held dear with all your might.”

“I…I see.”, Grayfia said with relief clearly seen on her face, “Thank you for your kind words, but what of our people?”

“Listen, I know you have plenty of widows and single women down here. If you all want to set a few dates up for me, I am more than happy to meet them.”, Cole chuckled with amusement, “In fact, there are three that I can think of right off the top of my head, Misla Vapula, Runeas Gremory, and Lilith.”

“Stay away from my grandmother!”, Zeoticus shouted before quickly covering his mouth, “Crap…”

Looking at his son in law with disbelief, he asked if she was really still alive. Believing that she had died several centuries ago, Zekram was happy to hear that she was still among the living. Nodding his head in the affirmative, Zeoticus admitted that she was still alive currently.

“If it is those three then, we can absolutely do that.”, Zekram agreed as a bluff, ‘I want to know why he named those three specifically. Runeas was presumed dead, Misla is from a dying Noble House, and Lilith is unlikely to sire children with him…is there something I do not know about?’

“If it is women you want, you could take any of those present here.”, Hades offered.

“Wow…auctioning off other people’s wives, that is quite an arrogant play there.”, Cole chuckled with a smirk, “I think the Devils have the better offer here.”

Before Hades could counter, the city’s alarm bells started sounding. Hearing people begin to flee the city, the deity let out a sigh of frustration. Ordering his Reapers to kill the civilians before they got away, they immediately sprinted away to begin their work.

“Go now, I will deal with these musty old bones.”, Cole assured the Devils, “The civilians’ safety should be your number one priority for now.”

“Thank you, Cole!”, Lord Phenex said before the Nobles split up.

Racing into the city with all the available manpower they had, the Devils quickly began protecting the civilians. Placing a powerful barrier around Lilith’s room, Cole told them to go now and he would ensure Lilith would not be harmed. Looking at one another, Lord Lucifage asked if Cole was certain he could manage that. Hades was among the Strongest Beings in their universe, and they were unsure if he could protect her and fight Hades at once.

“Just do as I say, this child is not a threat in my eyes.”, Cole mocked Hades, “He is more like an ankle-biting chihuahua than a genuine threat.”

Seeing how unconcerned Cole was about Hades, the two reluctantly headed out to join the others. Turning back to Hades, Cole asked him if he was certain this was the place he wanted to die. Taken aback by his arrogant tone, Hades tried one last time to reason with him to avoid a grudge match.

“Lord Cole…please be reasonable here. You can take any of the women you want here, and all the wealth you desire. Just walk away, and leave these mongrels to their fate. Both of us know that they deserve this after centuries of warmongering and bloodshed.”, Hades stated, “Even your lover Yasaka suffered greatly because of them. I could even give you back her mother and grandmother’s corpses if you wanted. They are of no use to me, they have just been on ice in my laboratory.”

“Are you really that blind? Does it really seem like I want women and money?”, Cole remarked with a sigh, “I have been alive far longer than any of you, and have walked millions of miles in six different walks of life. Lust, money, and power are all fleeting things that I have learned mean little when it comes to true happiness. Every day I go home to a place full of the people I love, their smiling faces and affection are all I want. Until you experience what true loss is, you will never understand my way of thinking.”

Understanding that they could not come to an arrangement, Hades accepted that he would need to go all out for this. Removing a few items that suppressed his monstrous power, an ungodly surge of power burst outward rendering many of the civilians and weaker fighters unconscious. Watching them fall from the sky, Cole stretch out his hands and caught them with telekinesis.

Gently setting them down to be retrieved by the other Devils, he looked at Hades with disappointment. Having switched to intimidation now, it was honestly disappointing to see how powerful he really was. Expecting a far stronger being than what he found, this fight was already a disappointment to him.

“Regretting your decision now?”, Hades asked with a smug tone, “Unfortunately my generosity has run-”

As quickly as it appeared, Hades' aura vanished all of a sudden. Looking around for some sort of mythical item, Cole laughed at his response.

“I bet you have never had that happen before.”, Cole said in a calm tone, “Raw power means nothing without precise control and the experience to wield it. Did you honestly think I would be shaken by that pitiful display of power? You may think you are among the most advanced magic wielders in existence, but you nothing less than an Apprentice. Before this world was created, I was delving into the Abyss of Magic gaining knowledge you could scarcely imagine. While you were being born, I was wielding magics that could rewrite the entirety of this universe with a wave of my hand. You stand here now having fought Titans while I have killed three of the Higher Beings responsible for creating the Omniverse and a Heavenly Host of their followers.”

Feeling the air being to vibrate abruptly, Hades took a step back in shock. Suddenly sensing a nearly bottomless void of magic energy from within Cole, he could not understand how it was not affecting the world like his energy did.

“You and I are not the same, child.”, Cole said turning into his Sage appearance, “Since you have come here in search of a magical battle, I will show you just how far beneath me you really are. The way is shut now, and there is no escape for you.”
