[Trap]

“Something bad…?”

Honestly, I already had an inkling before she said it.

《Sealing magic has been cast on the archive room from outside. Somehow, I got teleported out as well, but I’m currently working on a plan with the other teachers to rescue you.》

“Alright. We’ll wait in here.”

《I’m glad you’re quick on the uptake. I’ll reach out again if there are any updates.》

After that, Ms. Teixeira’s voice went silent.

“Listen, everyone,” I explained the situation to the others and informed them that we would be waiting for the teachers to handle it.

Sealing magic… it was magic that prevented people from leaving a specific place. It could be dispelled, but based on Ms. Teixeira’s tone, the one cast on this room seemed particularly challenging. Ms. Teixeira was one of the most talented individuals in the academy, which was already filled with renowned magicians. Clearly, the person behind this magic must be highly skilled.

The real question was, why would someone so proficient in magic interfere with the academy?

This was Royal Astor Academy–an important educational institution in this country, attended by commoners, nobles, and even members of the royal family. Meddling with this place was akin to challenging the entire nation, and whoever was responsible should be well aware of the severe consequences.

“It sure sucks. There’s nothing to do here.”

“Yeah… Andrei. You’re strong. How about you break the door open?”

“! That’s a great idea. I’ll give it a shot!”

“Wait! It’s just a joke!”

Andrei and Kleine started getting rowdy, but I couldn’t imagine him budging the door with his raw power alone.

Anyway, it occurred to me that the person who set this trap might also be the one who kidnapped Madeline. I had no clue about their motive for kidnapping her in the first place, and now, keeping us locked in here only made their intentions more unclear.

If their intention was to harm one of us, they would have acted by now. Yet, nothing had happened so far.

“…Who could be behind all this?” Tayte muttered anxiously.

Yes, the main issue was that we had no idea who our enemy was. Tayte had never faced this kind of situation before, so it was understandable that she was feeling uneasy.

In any case, why did the enemy single out Madeline?

If Madeline was their only target, there was no need for them to go through the trouble of trapping us here with sealing magic. Could it be that kidnapping Madeline was merely a distraction, and their actual goal was something else?

If that were the case, we needed to stick even closer together.

Thinking so, I looked around.

Then,

“—Huh?”

A sense of unease washed over me.

What was it?

‘Something’ was clearly different from before.

I looked around carefully, trying to find the source of my discomfort, but… Huh? I felt as if my thoughts were shrouded in a fog. My mind felt sluggish, making it difficult to think clearly.

“Damn it… what’s happening?”

Despite my confusion over the inexplicable phenomenon, I finally pinpointed the cause of my unease.

“J-Jarvis is gone?!”
