[Rescue]

A sudden shift gripped my body.

“Kh…”

This was bad.

My ability to think clearly was fading fast. and the growing concern that Jarvis was nowhere in sight only added to my distress… Damn it! Even my head was spinning now!

Mysterious fog had seemingly materialized out of thin air and was now permeating the archive room. It had to be some form of magic, yet none of us had detected anyone casting it.

“G-guys…”

Tayte, Raul, Eureka, Andrei, Kleine—everyone was in the same plight as me. I struggled to stay on my feet, but my body wouldn’t listen to my will and collapsed.

The magic responsible for affecting so many people simultaneously had to be exceptionally potent. There could only be a handful of individuals capable of wielding it.

“I must… get up…”

I used the holy sword as a makeshift support to regain my footing. As I lifted my limp head and gazed forward, I saw someone else managing to stand back up in this dire situation.

“Lord… Barrett…”

It was Raul.

Clutching the demon sword with determination, Raul clenched his teeth and poured his mana into the sword using the remaining strength he could muster.

…It was a reckless move.

Even I was barely standing. Yet he was channeling his mana into the demon sword— If anything went wrong, his life would be in jeopardy.

But Raul didn’t hesitate.

Knowing his personality, he must have been thinking, “I don’t care what happens to me! I have to help everyone, no matter what!”

I expected nothing less from the protagonist of the original novel, “The Rise of the Weakest Holy Swordsman.” Raul always thought that way when he rescued the heroines, which led them to fall in love with him and become part of his harem.

Of course, this time, he wasn’t just trying to protect the heroines but all of us, including me and Andrei.

It seemed he was trying to concentrate his mana to break through the door. But having two people was better than one. I readied my holy sword, glancing at Tayte beside me.

Despite her foggy consciousness, Tayte reached out her hand to me. I knelt down, grasped her hand firmly in my left hand, and poured mana into my holy sword with my right hand.

No words were necessary between us.

Despite our precarious state, a single glance was enough to for us to exchange thousands of words.

““!””

Raul and I simultaneously released the mana we had concentrated into the demon sword and holy sword. The tremendous force surged towards the door like an arrow, finally breaking through it.

“Are you alright?!”

Teachers rushed into the archive room. Upon noticing the suspicious fog, they immediately used wind magic to disperse it.

“You are safe now!”

Relief washed over me, but our problems were far from resolved.

Madeline and Jarvis were still missing. We had been rescued from the archive room, but I couldn’t let it end there. I had to find Madeline and Jarvis, no matter what.
