[Made It Out Alive]

After following the trail of mana that Madeline had left behind, we found ourselves ensnared in a trap set by her kidnapper.

Instead of rescuing Madeline, we ended up losing Jarvis.

Seizing the opportunity amidst our panic caused by the strange fog, the kidnapper stealthily abducted Jarvis, slipping away unnoticed even by Ms. Teixeira and the other staff.

These were exceptionally skilled individuals in the field of magic; the fact that they hadn’t detected the kidnapper spoke volumes about their expertise.

Following our rescue from the archive room, we were swiftly escorted to the infirmary.

I requested a teacher proficient in healing magic to examine the fog, revealing that it contained poisonous elements leading to a temporary decline in physical and cognitive abilities.

Raul and I were particularly affected due to our efforts in breaking open the door.

–However, it wasn’t a major concern. We just couldn’t move our bodies because we had overexerted ourselves and depleted our mana, and felt somewhat nauseated.

“Are you okay, Barrett?” Tayte looked at me with concern as I lay on the bed. Her beautiful eyes were glistening with tears that seemed ready to spill.

Similarly, Eureka displayed the same concern for Raul as she stood by his bedside.

They and the other student council members had already recovered and were already moving normally, with Andrei and Kleine particularly energetic.

As I reassured Tayte, Principal Abigail entered the infirmary.

“How are you both feeling?”

“I don’t think I can move for a while, again…” I said.

“Me too,” Raul echoed.

Principal Abigail immediately directed her attention toward us, noticing that we were the only ones still confined to our beds among the recovered students.

“I must say, I never imagined that Madeline and Jarvis would go missing.”

“?! Right! Are there any news of them?!” I tried to jump up instinctively, but my body refused to cooperate, allowing only my voice to express my urgency.

“Calm down. We are currently mobilizing all the staff to continue searching, and we have requested support from the knightly order. There is no sign that they have left the academy grounds, so they are probably still inside.”

“…They may be in the underground library.” I remarked.

“What?” Principal Abigail’s expression shifted abruptly, betraying a hint of panic.

“It appears that it isn’t mere whispers and rumors circulating among the students.”

The rest also reacted to my voice.

My remark stirred reactions from everyone present. When I explained that the incident originated in the underground library, the principal took a deep breath before saying, “I suppose it is fine to tell you guys.”

With that, the principal began to talk about the underground library.
