[Barrett VS Golem]

We were stuck unless we took on both the golem and Marden simultaneously.

While keeping Principal Abigail and Andrei safe, I faced off against the golem while Javis and Madeline dealt with Marden.

“Hey, clay doll, I’m your opponent.”

Whether the golem could comprehend human language or not, it seemed I managed to grab its attention.

Converting my mana to water element, I charged at the golem once again.

Previously, I had only severed its arm, but this time, I aimed for a different target – its core, its heart. With my holy sword infused with magical water, I brought it down on the golem.

“?!”

Unable to dodge my strike, the golem dropped to its knees. Not wasting a moment, I continued my assault, bombarding it with water spells.

A change happened to the golem’s body.

Gradually, its sandy body became unstable, and its movements grew sluggish.

Now!

Shouting inwardly, I concentrated my mana into the holy sword and slashed with all my might.

“Ooooooooooo…”

A sound, or perhaps a voice, escaped from the golem, resembling a scream.

And then–

“There you are!”

Inside the collapsed golem’s body, I spotted its core. If I could destroy it, the golem would revert to ordinary sand, putting an end to this battle.

However, the golem fought back desperately.

Perhaps it instinctively understood that if its core was obliterated, it would be game over. It frantically waved its arms to prevent me from getting closer, but its movements only intensified the instability of its body. When I swatted away its hands, they immediately blew apart, and the golem could no longer resist.

“This is the end!”

Taking aim at its core, I swung down my sword, slicing it in two. Instantly, the golem’s body broke apart, transforming into ordinary sand.

“Good.”

After making sure that the core had been destroyed and the golem wouldn’t regenerate again, I tried to go help Jarvis and Madeline, but—

“I see you’re done on your end.”

“You sure took your time.”

Surprisingly, Jarvis and Madeline had already subdued Marden, restraining him with binding magic.

He appeared to be unconscious. Upon closer inspection, I noticed a bruise on his left cheek that hadn’t been there before, probably courtesy of Madeline.

Anyway, the battle was now over.

We had successfully captured all the adversaries—but there were still unresolved issues.

We would have to address them in the aftermath.
