[Raul, Recovery]

The incident had been resolved.

—Well, not entirely, as a few issues still lingered. But we had succeeded in achieving our primary goal of rescuing Jarvis and Madeline, and that was a weight off my shoulders. We handed over Marden and the other culprits to the knights who arrived later, too.

…Anyway, one of the few remaining issues was Raul’s condition.

“I’m really sorry for worrying you…”

He had regained control of his mind.

However, during the battle, he had completely lost it… Thankfully, with Marden hostile towards him, it diverted his attention, sparing us from becoming his target. If Marden hadn’t been there, Raul would have attacked us instead.

Aware of this, Raul was completely down in the dumps.

“I trained so hard to contribute to the Knights of the Academy… yet I ended up causing trouble for all of you…”

Just like in the original novel, Raul had a strong sense of responsibility. He tried to bear everything on his own.

That reminded me, he displayed this behavior on numerous occasions in the first half of the original novel. For example, despite being relentlessly harassed by the original Barrett at school, he blamed himself for obtaining the demon sword and fell into a downward spiral of negativity. He only picked himself up after he met Tayte, and as they licked each other’s wound, they grew closer each other. But of course, I wouldn’t want to see that happen in this world.

―Instead of Tayte, Raul now had…

“Cheer up, Raul.”

“That’s right. It’s unlike you to be so depressed.”

“We know you are a serious and kind person at your core.”

Eureka, Andrei, and Kleine consoled him.

Yes.

In the original novel, Tayte was the first person Raul could call a friend. However, here, he had the other members of the student council and our classmates, so he wasn’t alone.

“Raul… as both a member of the student council and the Knights of the Academy, as well as my best friend, you’re irreplaceable to me. I hope you’ll continue to lend me your strength.”

“L-Lord Barrett…”

This was enough.

In the original story, as the plot unfolded, there were occasions where Raul almost went astray, but I didn’t think he would in this world. All I had to do was support him closely as his friend.

In any case, Raul seemed to be doing okay, but the other issue didn’t seem too good.

“I wonder if Principal Abigail is alright.”

“I’m worried about her…”

Tayte and Jarvis were relieved to see Raul regain his energy, but like me, they appeared to be concerned about the other issue—Principal Abigail.

There was still no news about her after the knights brought her away, but the only thing I could do now was pray for her safety.
