“That’s right. We need to have breakfast.” For some reason, Kalix spoke in a somewhat awkward tone of voice. Amber felt his gaze looking up and down at her wedding dress. As his gaze went down towards the ground, it stayed for quite a while on the browned ends of her wedding dress.

Amber thought that he would simply turn his back on her and go back alone while leaving her behind.

But he did not do that.

Instead, he came to Amber’s side.

Had there ever been a time when that man had come to her by his own will?

At the unfamiliar scene of seeing him coming close to her, she stood there, not knowing what to do and unable to back away.

His hand that had reached right in front of Amber flinched for a moment, and slightly moved up and then down again.

‘Is he really…?’ Only after a long time did Amber realize that he was trying to initiate the traditional escort of a husband towards his wife.

Surprisingly, he had meant to put Amber’s hands in his and escort her to the castle, but changed his mind suddenly midway and let his hand down.

Amber was so flabbergasted that she let out a snort. Since she asked him to be respectful towards her, he was trying his best to be a gentleman towards her but it seemed like holding hands was too much for him.

‘There’s no need to push yourself like that.’ Amber shook her head faintly so that the others around them wouldn’t recognize her meaning. She dismissed the flicker of disappointment on his face at her rejection as her imagination.

Kalix hid the hand that was flinching behind his back. He then fixed his expression on the cold face that Amber knew extremely well.

“Let us go, Madam,” He made sure to keep his promise of courtesy in front of other people.

Grace and the knights’ mouths dropped at the sight of Kalix treating Amber respectfully. No one dared to let out a sound but quietly closed their mouths despite their widened eyes.

Grace’s expression was the most interesting.

Amber nearly burst into loud laughter at the sight of Grace’s cheeks sucked in with her eyes popped out.

It wasn’t a bad feeling at all. It seemed like she had taken the proper first step in making sure that the pitiful and terrible marriage life she had suffered didn’t repeat itself again.

“Yes, let us go,” Amber turned her back on Grace and the flabbergasted knights, and went back into the castle with Kalix.

The attendant from the kitchen informed her that breakfast was ready, but Amber did head down for her meal.

“Your Excellency, please go down and have breakfast,” She spoke to Kalix, who stood just outside the door of the bedchamber, unwilling to take even a step inside.

“But my wife, you should also…”

“I will not be able to go while I still have this burdensome dress stained with dirt.”

“Ah,” Kalix made an expression like he understood. Though to others, he held the same expressionless face as before, Amber could tell the subtle difference thanks to the ten years she had previously spent with him. “Then I shall be leaving first.”

It seemed that Kalix thought Amber would follow him down after changing into proper clothing, but Amber wasn’t planning to have her meal at all.

There was something she needed to do.

After confirming that Kalix had left, Amber hurriedly went inside the room and started laboriously taking off her wedding dress.

Though it would be easier if she requested help from a maid, the maids around her worked directly for Bella and she was unable to easily call for anyone’s help. It took a long time for her to finally remove her dress.

She tossed the dress that had turned into a wrinkled heap to a corner of the room and changed into something more comfortable. Once she finished, she slowly left the room, taking care to be as quiet as possible.

Unexpectedly, there was no one outside the doors.

Originally Bella’s people would have been keeping an eye on her, but it seemed like they were completely focused on Kalix’s side after he had suddenly canceled his plans to leave the castle.

‘This is a once in a lifetime opportunity.’

Amber gulped and walked out the hallway with quick steps. There was only one thought that filled her mind.

‘I have to find Jenia as soon as possible!’
