In her previous life, the only place where injuries and casualties occurred was the Tantalum Canyon.

Amber had to take care of the two knights who were injured in the canyon as Kalix had already left for a battle in Kale Kingdom almost immediately after coming back. At that time, she had to inform the family of one of the knights of his death.

“The ground, you say?” Jeit’s eyes widened in surprise from what he just heard. “How did you know such…? I mean, the ground being weak is one thing, but how did you know about the monsters that go underground…?”

“I hear and see many things as well, you know.” Amber quickly spoke but Jeit still looked as if he was suspicious of her.

She wasn’t flustered at all. She already somewhat predicted that he wouldn’t completely trust her words. Heinreich had previously been the same, after all.

But even so, she didn’t regret her decision to warn Jeit about the Tatulum Canyon.

‘Since I might be able to save a knight’s life with this one sentence.’ So how could Amber pretend to not know?

It wasn’t an action done out of greed to develop the Eastern Lands and secure her position as the lady of the castle, nor was it strategic thinking to ensure the manpower of the knights were preserved to the fullest extent.

For Amber, it was simply an obvious course of action to provide all the knowledge she could to save even a single knight’s life. It was in Amber’s nature to never ignore someone in trouble, after all.

The nature that had shriveled away into a corner in her previous life was now able to show itself in full force in this life.

Jeit stared at Amber with several complicated thoughts.

After confirming that Amber’s eyes didn’t show a shred of fear or doubt, Jeit spoke. “If what you say is true, Mistress, then we will be able to avoid a major trap. If that is the case, I will show you my gratitude after coming back from battle. I promise you that.”

Amber looked at Jeit in surprise. His words to show his gratitude was suspicious, after all.

“Sir Jeit! Let’s set off already.” At that moment, someone called from afar for Jeit to hurry up.

“And there’s just one more thing I need to tell you.” Amber hurriedly grabbed Jeit and stopped him before he got onto his horse.

“What is it?” Jeit lifted one of his eyebrows as he asked.

“Can I ask a small favor from you?” And she quickly said what she wanted from him.

At Amber’s request, Jeit made an extremely surprised face. “Wait, what are you planning to do with that?” He was so surprised that he forgot to use proper formalities to address her as he bluntly questioned her.

“I cannot tell you just yet. But please rest assured, it is something that even the Duke has given permission for.”

Jeit turned his head towards Kalix so fast that it was almost audible. Seeing Kalix awkwardly nod his head, Jeit let out a surprised huff from his mouth.

“Would it be too difficult?”

“I was simply just surprised by the unexpected request. It is not difficult for me at all. It’s something that I see  whenever we subjugate monsters after all.” Jeit easily promised to solve Amber’s request as it wasn’t particularly difficult or inconvenient.

As their conversation concluded, it was truly time for Jeit to leave for battle.

Amber gave a short word of encouragement as he mounted his horse.

“Rearguard, set off!” As Jeit yelled out, the rest of the knights still at the castle moved at the same time.

It truly was an epic sight to see the knights walking in a perfect sync under the transparent winter sunlight. Even their old armor and worn out weapons looked perfect, even if it was just for that moment.

As the last of the knights left the castle gate, Heinreich closed the gate.
