6:15 am We left on October 13 to arrive in China on the 14th. New York -4 hours, Beijing +12 hours, already give us a huge difference on the time zone . Add to that the duration of the flight by plane which varies between twelve and fourteen hours and you will understand why. Leaving in dark nights to arrive at dawn, I am exhausted but the day is just beginning. Why arrive so early in the morning? I was invited to attend a play presented by students from a university that teaches the multiple parts related to the film industry this morning. I will be a kind of special guest but I see myself as a mascot knowing that many will understand nothing that I will say if they have questions to ask me directly or vice versa.

Although a translator will be there to facilitate the understanding of everyone and this does not change the fact wich I would have prefered to discuss with the students myself rather than having to resort to a third person.

Our translator who will accompany us throughout our stay has just arrived and introduces himself. "Hello gentlemen, ladies, I am Hé Cai and will be your translator during your stay."

I forgot to mention that we are seven. Terry, Jenna, the four molosse and I have come and go logically together. After Terry greets Mister. Hé, I do the same. "Hello Mister Hé, nice to meet you. I wish have the opportunity and the time to visit your country a bit and I hope that you will be able to tell us a little bit about the history of China."

He nods affirmatively. "It will be a pleasure, Miss Hanckok."

When we arrive at the car that Terry rented, I can not help but laugh. Two BMW 7 series black tinted windows. When the two cars go around, everyone will think that this is the mafia that is moving and not common people like us. At least with this disguise aside from the cops, no one will bother us. Jenna can not ride with me, I'm with a mastiff, Terry and Mister Hé in this car of criminals. Today, we do not bother to rent a hotel because as soon as we leave the university, we will fly to France, heading to a town called Périgeux. A little explanation is needed, before turning a advertising for China AS which is a very large insurance company, we go to France a few days for me to say my few sentences in the film following the contract signed, there are some time of that. Then, we return to China for the commercial, a visit to Italy for a fashion show, then again France for the presentation of a trophy in a musical ceremony called NRJ MUSIC AWARDS. Adding to that the two photo shoot planned in New York and if I have time to visit the young fashion designer who offers me my clothes I will be busy enough until the end of November.

07:20 am What I see right now is a city that could be compared to New York with its buildings and all its advertising posters. I who wanted to see China ancestral, I'm definitely not very spoiled. The cars are different from those of France or the United States. I do not recognize almost any brands, but their styles are a mix of the models I've seen in Paris and some American cars. I noticed something that surprised me. Chinese women are really beautiful. I found some Japanese pretty but I must admit that the women of this country are the most beautiful of those I have seen so far. They have fine features, a kind of natural grace and their faces are often very beautiful. As far as men are concerned, they are not my type, I think I prefer the Caucasian genre for the moment but I have not yet discovered all the type of man in this world. After a break in a well deserved coffee and a pee break necessary, we take the road without hurry because we have time and take the opportunity to detours to discover some monuments and others by following the indications of Mister Hé.

08h50 am We had time but during a detour we found ourselves stuck behind two delivery trucks whose drivers had disappeared. They came back over an hour later laughing, completely mocking the traffic jam they had created. The street is narrow, crowded and one-way, we could not turn around and had to wait until these two sons of whores come back and restart theirs trucks, then go away. Result, already almost an hour late. Of course, we contacted the university which fortunately programmed its theatre play for 10h00am. This delay will not pose major problems but remains inconvenient because arriving late does not seem very professional.

09h15 am We meet the Director of the Beijing Film University, also known as BFA, Beijing Film Academy, whose English otherwise a small accent typical of his country is almost perfect. In this university, by assembling their skills, students are able to create a film from the screenplay to the montage for a projection. When I heard about it, it will almost make me want to join such a school. Of course, the specialty I would choose would not be production, editing, or even writing, but learning how to become a real actress. But thinking about it, with the support of my parents, my old high school in New York allowed me to spend the third year and I think it's already not so bad seen every week of classes that I have missed and at school and without a private teacher. Moreover, when I think about it, when will I have enough time to join a university when I do not even have enough to unpack my luggage lately? Terry makes sure that my calendar is always busy, whether it's a simple visit or an advertisement, my free time becomes rare. After a short visit of the screenwriting and film studies department, from the 5.1 copy studio, we arrive in one of the drama halls that has a small stage. A small theater in a classroom, I think we could describe this piece like that. Strange fact, there is no teacher at the moment but several students who give the replica but stop when they see us and come to greet us. The director tells them to continue working because if they have questions to ask me, they will have to wait after the performance of their play. Of the fifteen or so students in this room, eleven are fluent in English or good enough that I can understand them perfectly. I do not know if this is one of the lessons that is included in this school or if the English in the Chinese schools curriculum is effective, but it will facilitate our exchanges.

10h45 am The play began since forty minutes. Although I do not understand the language, I understood that it was not something very soft and calm. The Director explains that this is the reconstruction of the Chinese revolution of 1911 to end the Qing dynasty that ruled this nation more than 250 years. This political movement overthrew the imperial regime that had existed for millennia, and thus the Republic of China was created. While some of the costumes are very luxurious, others seem gross and perfectly represent a people who were no longer satisfied with his life under this imperial regime. I regret not being able to understand the text because their game although that I am not an expert seems to me very good and their expressions sometimes even moving. Anger, resignation, disappointment, courage, a whole range of emotion that I can see or feel is played by the actors in front of me right now and I finally understand the reason for this theater that I did not care about is so popular. Unlike a film, we feel the emotion of the actor in live, What the actors want to express what, is happening in front of us and the gestural communication is enough to move us or make us laugh in the same way. Af the end of the performance, I applaud very honestly these student actors who for me were excellent and tell them that I will again gladly attend another of their play if I have the opportunity. I can not talk to them for a long time because Terry tells me we have to leave for the airport immediately. Mister Hé stays at the academy and will take a taxi because he lives close enough here, we will see him again when we come back. In thinking back to all that I had been told about this people, I can only ask myself the question; Why? All the Chinese I met today, were very nice and friendly, so why you have me so expressly advised to pay attention? Maybe some of them are bastards but I also met many bastards in other countries so there is necessarily bastards here. I will see well on our next visit, which fortunately will be longer.
