Romans 13:1
Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God.
Eijiro immediately stood up from his desk. “I want to be class rep! Pick me!” he yelled out.
“Me too!” Denki yelled.
Kyoka raised her hand high. “I want to do it too,” she said with determination.
Himiko and James both didn't seem particularly eager to throw their lot in for class representative. It was for entirely different reasons though as Himiko just couldn't be bothered while James didn't think nominating himself would look all that good. He knew it would end up with a vote anyway so it was also a waste of effort.
Momo on the other hand seemed troubled by something. "Should I nominate myself or James?" she mumbled to herself, unable to make up her mind.
“It’s a job made for m-“ Yuga tried to say.
Mina interrupted him though. “I’ll be the leader!” She said excitedly.
“Let me do it! Me!” Katsuki yelled out.
“Silence, please!” Tenya yelled louder than everyone else getting everyone’s attention.
“It is a job with the serious responsibility of leading others. It is not a job for just anyone who wants to do it. It is a calling that requires the trust of those around you. If we want to use democracy to decide on a true leader, then we should hold an election to choose one,” he said. Despite his passionate words though his hand was raised higher than anyone else’s.
“Why did you suggest that?” Denki asked.
“We haven’t known each other for that long, so how can we have trust or anything?” Tsuyu questioned.
“If that’s the case and everyone votes for themselves…” Eijiro responded.
“Don’t you think that is precisely why whoever receives multiple votes here can be truly considered the most suitable person? What do you think, teacher?” Tenya asked Shota.
“I don’t care, as long as you decide before homeroom is over,” Shota responded nonchalantly before laying down for a nap.
“Thank you very much!” Tenya said.
Shota handed over a bunch of papers to Fumikage in the front row with a lazy yawn. "Pass these around. Everyone writes down who they vote for and fold the paper. Then we collect them and I'll announce the final results," he drawled.
After the papers were handed out some of them wrote down their answers without hesitation, while others seemed to be struggling to make up their minds.
After collecting them and counting the votes Shota started writing the results on the whiteboard for everyone to see.

James wasn't surprised he got any votes, but it was better than he expected after giving his own vote to Momo. He was certain Himiko and Momo must have voted for him, but that still left two unaccounted votes from other classmates. Ochaco and Tenya who had zero votes, but had probably voted for Izuku like they had in the original timeline. That left Itsuka, Toru, Mina and Denki as possibly voting for him.
He looked over at Denki and dismissed that thought immediately as he seemed to be staring at Momo. That explained where that extra vote came from. It did make sense to him that his other two votes came from the girls in class since most of the guys didn't seem to like him near enough for that to happen. Itsuka probably voted for Momo with Tory and Mina voting for him since he hadn't really interacted with Itsuka all that much yet, but that was just a guess on his part.
“Who else voted for that bastard Deku?!” Katsuki yelled aggressively.
Ochaco whistled "innocently".
“And how is that other bastard in first?” he asked looking around the classroom trying to find an answer.
Himiko shot Katsuki a glare that sent a shiver up his spine. He might have a loud mouth, but he was still just a normal teenage boy. He wasn't used having very real killing intent directed his way and Himiko didn't play around when it came to James.
He gulped before coughing awkwardly. "Just curious," he mumbled.
James leaned over and gave Himiko's hand a squeeze causing the girl to blush and breaking the killing intent filled glare she was sending Katsuki in favour of a slightly obsessed stare towards himself.
Tenya seemed distraught when his final score was revealed. He was clenching his fists as if he was struggling with something.
“You voted for someone else, huh?” Momo said in surprise. After all Ida had been one of the ones most excited to be class representative. She had given her vote to someone else out of love, but she doubted Ida was in love with herself, Midoriya or James. So why would he not vote for himself?
“But you wanted to do it too… What are you trying to do Ida?” Rikido said equally surprised.
Toru turned around in her seat to look at James. "Congrats!" she said with a happy smile.
Tsuyu nodded in agreement.
Mina just looked at him silently, but her look was a little too intense. He didn't mind it though. As long as you could survive intense, intense was good and there was already nothing Mina could do to bring him any harm. To him it was just a little extra spice in his life, so what's not to love.
"Alright, Busujima-kun, Midoriya-kun and Yaoyorozu-chan get your asses up here," Shota said looking between the three of them.
“Then the class rep is Busujima-kun. However the second place is would granted to the second place, unfortunately we have two in second place. I could choose, but I don't feel like it. Busujima-kun since you are the new class rep you choose which of the two will be your deputy class rep,” Shota announced.
