- ‘Knock. Knock.’ – A mild knock was heard from the other side of the door.

“Excuse me, may I come in?” A woman’s voice asked right after.

“Yes, please,” Ileena answered.

“Good morning. My name is Janette. I’ll be assisting you during your stay here,” a woman dressed in a maid’s outfit bowed down after entering the room where Ileena had spent the night.

“Nice to meet you, Janette. My name is Ileena,” Ileena was already up, but hadn’t changed into her regular clothes yet. She was standing next to the window, curtains opened just halfway, enjoying the morning view.

“May I offer some assistance for you to dress up, Miss Ileena?” Janette asked.

“Oh, ah, no need, thank you.” The maid’s question took Ileena by surprise, but she composed herself quickly.

“I understand. I came here to escort you to the dining room, Miss Ileena. Mrs. Talrone is waiting for you at the breakfast table,” Janette informed politely.

“You were sent here by Narias’s mother? In that case, I shouldn’t keep her waiting.” Ileena rushed to change in her regular clothes.

“No need to rush, Miss Ileena. Take all the time you need,” Janette smiled kindly.

“Thank you.” Ileena slowed down. She was clearly a little nervous about being at Narias’s house. Ileena woke up some time ago, and she would’ve changed into her regular clothes already, but she was running scenarios in her head how to conduct herself in front of Narias’s parents. That’s why she was staring at the window all this time, lost in her own thoughts. “If I may ask, do you know if Flavia or Emilia are awake? They are the girls I have arrived with yesterday.”

“Yes, they are. Other maids are assisting them and will escort them to the diner as well,” Janette answered with a smile.

“Are they? Well, I should hurry then,” Ileena tried to be faster to change.

“Yo, Ileena,” Ileena heard Flavia’s voice behind her as soon as she left her room.

“Flavia, good morning,” Ileena kept her usual serious act up.

“Oh, come on, relax, will you? We’re not at our student club,” Flavia waved her hand.

“Good morning, Miss Flavia. My name is Janette. I hope you had a good night’s sleep?” Janette greeted the cheerful bunny girl.

“Hi, Janette. I see you got yourself a personal maid too, Ileena. Isn’t it cool? I never had a personal maid before. Oh, this is Connie. She’s my new friend,” Flavia grinned, introducing her maid.

“It’s a pleasure to meet you, Miss Ileena,” the maid, who looked just a few years older than Ileena was, greeted her.

“Wow, you sure know how to be polite, Connie,” Flavia commented, throwing a stare at her assigned maid.

“But of course. We are here to serve you all,” Connie smiled at her.

“That’s right, hah. But you can talk to me normally, just like we agreed. We’re friends after all.” Flavia added with a laugh.

“Of course, Flavia. I’d be happy to be your friend,” Connie’s speech style changed the moment she spoke to Flavia.

“Flavia…” Ileena shook her head.

“Don’t you start, Ileena. You can be stiff as much as you want, but I’m here to relax. Besides, Narias’s mom said we are basically family and we should enjoy our stay here, and that’s what I am gonna do,” Flavia pointed her finger at Ileena.

“Do what you want, just make sure you treat Narias’s parents with respect. You wouldn’t want them to disapprove you being his girlfriend? Or have them become angry with someone else for that matter?” Ileena’s eyes flashed with an intimidating glow.

“Eek! That… would be bad… wouldn’t it?” Flavia raised both of her hands up, as if trying to cover her face.

“Don’t worry, Miss Ileena. Mr. and Mrs. Talrones are very reasonable people. They understand each one of you is different. The last thing they want is for either of you to feel uncomfortable during your stay.” Janette told her, making both Ileena and Flavia let out sighs of relief.

“Good morning,” a girl’s voice greeted everyone suddenly.

“Hey Emilia, what’s up?” Flavia turned to her as if nothing had happened just a moment ago.

“You seemed to be very cheerful Flavia. Did you have a good night’s sleep?” Emilia asked.

“For sure. The bed was so huge and so comfy I didn’t want to wake up,” Flavia was excited to tell her about it. “By the way, this is Connie. She’s my personal maid, but we’re basically friends.”

“Good morning, Miss Emilia. It is nice to meet you,” Connie bowed as she greeted the Ice Princess.

“Nice to meet you too, Connie.” Emilia smiled, then waved her hand towards an older lady in maid’s uniform standing next to her. “This is Mrs. Lucy. She’ll be assisting me during my stay.”

“Nice to meet you. I’m Ileena,” Ileena bowed her head.

“Hi, I’m Flavia,” Flavia waved her hand, showing of her charming grin.

“What a pleasure to meet such lovely ladies such as yourselves. I sincerely hope your stay will be enjoyable.” Lucy touched her cheek with one hand, delighted by the girls’ greetings.

“I’m really sorry, but I would like to remind you that Mrs. Talrone is waiting for everyone at the diner.” Janette reminded everyone with a light bow of her head.

“That’s right, and I’m actually hungry. Come on, Connie, lead the way.” Flavia turned to her new friend.

“This way, Flavia,” Connie waved her hand with a smile.

“Good morning, all. So nice to see you again. Did you have a good sleep last night?” Alvina greeted the girls as they entered the diner.

“Good morning, Mrs. Talrone,” Ileena greeted her back. “I had a very good rest, thank you for asking.”

“Yes, the bed I slept in is amazing,” Flavia was quick to add.

“Good morning, Mrs. Talrone. I had an amazing rest. Thank you for your hospitality.” Emilia bowed down in a ladylike manner.

“I’m glad to hear that. Please, sit down. Layla, would you mind serving the breakfast now?” Alvina turned to the maid standing next to her chair.

“Right away, ma’am,” Layla bowed her head before leaving for the kitchen.

“Huh? But Narias is not here yet. And what about his dad? Aren’t they gonna eat?” Flavia asked, noticing it was only them at the table.

“Oh, please forgive me for I forgot to mention it. My dear Lorenard and Narias had left early. They have… an old score to settle.” Alvina told them with a chuckle.

“An old score?” Flavia raised an eyebrow, pulling her chair closer to the table.

“Yes. You see, ever since Narias was little, him and his dad would train together, and my little Narias had never won a duel against his dad ever since. They went out to have a go at each other again. Boys will always be boys, as they say.” Mrs. Talrone explained, covering her mouth with one hand so she wouldn’t laugh out loud.

“That’s right. I think Narias had mentioned he intends to win this time,” Ileena remembered.

“Narias duelling his dad. That sounds awesome. I wish I could see that.” Flavia’s face lit up with excitement.

“That would be… interesting to see.” Emilia wasn’t opposed to the idea.

“Yeah, we could go cheer Narias on,” Flavia was ready to go.

“That’s so adorable, but I believe we should let them be for now. I’m sure both of them would like to catch up on a few things as father and son as well. Besides, they might be done by the time you get there.” Alvina made a point.

“You’re right, Mrs. Talrone. Besides, it would be very rude of us to leave you by yourself, wouldn’t it, Flavia?” Ileena glanced at Flavia just briefly before turning back to face Narias’s mom again.

“Aah… yeah. That would be… really bad.” Flavia agreed, rubbing the back of her head with one hand.

{at the training grounds in the meantime}

“Wind Burst! Wind Bullet!” Narias was trying to catch his dad, who was extremely good at running away from him.

“Woah! Close one.” Lorenard used his own Wind Burst spell himself, stopping abruptly, so he wouldn’t get hit by Narias’s Wind Bullet spell. “You’ve improved a lot, son.”

Narias took his dad’s last words as a taunt. He knew Lorenard would try to stall for time in order to find an opening to hit Narias with his own spell. It had happened a few times already.

“Wind Pressure Blast! Fire Blast!” Narias tried to close the distance between himself and his dad, then cast his fire spell right at the moment he was passing his dad by from the side.

“Oops! Double Wind Burst!” His dad reacted, extending both hands forward and casting two Wind Burst spells at the same time, blocking and neutralizing Narias’s Fire Blast spell. If he hadn’t done, Lorenard would’ve been burned on the face.

“Tch… Fire Wall!” As soon as Narias regained his footing, he cast another spell, fire rushing forward and leaving a scorched path in its wake.

“Sprint.” Narias’s father cast a spell and his feet glowed green. He jumped back and then to the side so fast the fires couldn’t catch up to him.

“No way!” Narias exclaimed, seeing his dad jump much further than he usually did. “What did you just do?”

“Hah, I can’t disclose my secret moves to my opponent now, can I?” His did simply smirked at him.

“Aarrgh… Wind Blade! Wind Blade!” Narias cast two spells simultaneously, then another Wind Burst spell to try and get closer to his dad again.

“Wind Blade.” Lorenard cast a single Wind Blade spell of his own without moving from his spot. He didn’t have to, because his spell smashed one of Narias’s Wind Blades, cutting right through it, and the other Wind Blade spell missed him completely. “You didn’t think you could hit me with the Wind Blade spell, did you? You should know by now that the Wind Bla- Woah! Oops!”

Narias’s father was about to give a speech of sorts, but was interrupted by Narias casting a Fireball spell. The spell was too slow to hit Lorenard, unfortunately, but was enough to interrupt his talk.

“Tch…” Narias frowned he couldn’t catch his dad off guard.

“Hey, that’s rude. You should wait for me to finish talking.” Lorenard’s words irritated Narias even more.

“Yeah? And give you time to come up with some underhanded tactic to beat me again. Not happening!” Narias declared in a serious tone. “And how in the world can you move so fast? That’s beyond normal human’s speed. You must be cheating!”

“How rude to accuse your own father of cheating. I simply used the Sprint spell. You should know it boosts my speed for a short amount of time.” Lorenard threw his hands to the sides, acting like Narias should’ve known about it all along.

“Sprint? But that’s a higher level of a Wind Leap spell!” Narias was surprised to learn his father knew that spell. “You had never used Sprint against me. When did you learn it?”

“What do you mean ‘when’? I always knew the spell. I just never needed to use it, because… you know… you were so slow.” Lorenard’s words just set a fire under Narias’s butt. Narias clenched his fists, gritting his teeth after hearing such humiliating taunt.

“Why you… I’ll get you this time for sure! Wind Pressure Blast! Fire Wall! Wind Pressure Blast! Fire…” Narias shot from his spot like a bullet. He started casting his spells one after another.

Narias wasn’t exactly trying to hit his dad with the Fire Wall spell. Instead, he was blasting himself around Lorenard, casting his Fire Wall spell the instant his feet would touch the ground after his Wind Pressure Blast throw. He was basically encircling his father, trapping him in the middle of his Fire Wall spells.

“Woah, woah, woah! Aren’t you getting a little too serious, son?” It wasn’t clear if Lorenard was taunting or was becoming worried this time. The fires were surrounding him fast, offering no way to escape.

“I’ll get you this time, dad! Fire Wall!” Narias cast one more Fire Wall spell, confident his dad wouldn’t be able to escape this time.

“Hah, you’ve really grown, son.” Lorenard spoke to himself quietly, grinning proudly. He was happy to see how much his son had improved. The fires were about to engulf him, but he stood calm, not trying to escape it. Instead, he fixed his stance, ramming his feet wide into the ground and extending his both arms to the sides. “You’ve done well, son! But this ends now! Wind Blade Vortex!”

“Wind Vortex? Hey, I know that spell. Someone had used it against me during the Solo Arena Battle. Heh, you won’t beat me with tha- Huh? Wait, that’s… that’s not Wind Vortex. That’s different. Uugh… Whaaa!” Narias was almost confident about his victory seeing his dad cast a spell he thought he knew. However, the spell Lorenard had cast started to cut and extinguish his fires effortlessly. “No way!”

The spell Narias’s dad had cast was resembling the Wind Vortex spell, but there was much more to it. In addition to the spell resembling a small tornado, magic blades were flying around it too, cutting and slicing through the huge flames that Narias’s multiple Fire Wall spells produced. The Wind Blade Vortex spell was growing in diameter too, becoming bigger and wider in the process.

“Huh? What? Wind Shield!” Narias was taken aback for a moment and missed to notice when his dad spell started to expand. It was reducing the fires to nothing and was about to reach Narias himself. “Ah, ugh… Wind Shield! Wind Shield!”

Narias had been too shocked to react in time and was caught by the Wind Blade Vortex spell which started to pull him in, cutting his body with sharp blades in the process.

“Tch… Why you… I have to… Wind Pressure… Blast!” Narias had to get away, so he cast another spell to blow himself out of his dad’s spell reach. He didn’t even look where he would land. “Ouch! Bhaah…”

Narias rolled a few times when his body hit the ground after the blast. He landed himself a few extra bruises, but it was nothing compared to how dangerous the Wind Blade Vortex was.

“Narias! Are you ok, Narias?” In the next moment, his dad rushed to check on him, the Wind Blade Vortex spell evaporating into the thin air. “Phew, you’re fine. You made me worried there, son.”

“Ouch, cough… Yeah, I’m fine. Tsk…” Narias said. He had a few extra bruises, but wasn’t hurt too bad. “What was that spell, dad?”

“Oh, that was my trump card. It’s called the Wind Blade Vortex spell. My special move I’ve managed to master over the years. I must say, I hadn’t expected I’d have to use it against you, but it was getting really hot back there. Hah…” Lorenard told him with a laugh.

“Tch… you sneaky snake. How many more special moves do you have?” Narias frowned, clearly upset he had lost again.

“Just this one,” his dad grinned wide.

“Dang it, I lost again.” Narias dropped his head, feeling down.

“What are you saying, son? You forced me to use my special spell. I’d say that’s a win for you.” Lorenard patted him on the head.

“Special spell, huh? It looked similar to the Wind Vortex spell someone used against me, but was on a completely different level. How did you learn it, dad?” Narias wanted to know.

“Can’t say it was easy.” Lorenard said with a bit of a laugh. “I can tell you how I learned it, but there’s something else I want to talk to you about. Now that you have girlfriends and stuff.”

“My girlfriends? What do they have to do with your special spell?” Narias was puzzled by how serious his dad sounded.

“Everything. Come, let’s have a drink and have a chat. I have something important to tell you,” Lorenard stood up and started to walk to the rest area, not waiting for his son.

“H… hey dad, wait up!” Narias sprung to his feet, wanting to catch up with his father.
