“Cool, now we have one Magic Crystal each.” Flavia was happy about everyone getting one.

“It’s so tiny, but it’s also so pretty.” Lilna was looking at hers.

“Let’s go find find some more,” the bunny girl couldn’t wait to get into action again.

“Good find,” in the meantime, Growly was inspecting the cave room.

“Huh? What did you find, Growly?” Narias came to see what the chubby bear boy was looking at.

“Crystalized Mold,” the fury boy student said.

“This? This is Crystalized Mold? Oh, look. There’s some here as well,” Narias pointed at another similarly looking rocky surface.

“No, not that. Only this,” Growly told him.

“But that one looks completely the same as the I was looking at,” the group’s appointed leader was confused.

“Look. This is Crystalized Mold…” Growly rubbed the one he was inspecting with his hand which made the surface release a mild greenish glow. Then he went to do the same to the one Narias was pointing at, but the surface stayed the same. “This one is a regular rock.”

“Wow,” Narias gasped after seeing the difference. “I would’ve never realized it myself. That’s amazing, Growly.”

“What are you guys looking at?” Flavia became curious to see what the boys were looking at.

“Growly found some Crystalized Mold,” Narias told her.

“Crystalized Mold?” Emilia was curious too.

“Yes. Here,” the non-so-talkative bear boy had already extracted the chunk of Crystalized Mold which he then showed to the girls.

“That looks… like a rock,” Flavia wondered, to which Growly rubbed part of it with another hand.

“Wow, it changed color to light green.” Lilna exclaimed with admiration.

“Awesome. I want to find some too,” the energetic bunny girl quickly hopped to the nearest rock to get some too. “Eh? How come this one doesn’t change color?”

“That’s just a rock,” Growly scratched his cheek with one finger, looking perplexed.

“Oh, aaa… I knew that. Haha.” Flavia laughed, but everyone could tell she looked confused too.

“Yeah. I thought I found some too, but Growly instantly pointed out that mine was a simple rock too. Haha.” Narias added with a laugh.

“Oh? Ah… ahaha,” Flavia, as well as everyone else had a laugh.

“I’m sorry, but… what is Crystalized Mold used for?” Emilia asked after the group calmed down.

“To craft stuff. Nothing too fancy, but the material is easy to work with and can make some nice accessories,” that was a lengthy explanation, considering it came from Growly.

“Cool. We can get some more then…” Flavia was about to rush off to find some, but then remembered she couldn’t tell the difference. “Eeh… how do you tell the difference which one is the Crystalized Mold?”

“The shape and the color are slightly different from normal rocks,” Growly explained.

“That… doesn’t explain much,” the bunny girl wanted to know more.

“Ghm…” the chubby bear boy rubbed his cheek with one finger again. “The color changes when you rub on it.”

“Right. That’s easy. I’ll go find some right away.” Flavia was about to run off.

“There aren’t any more here,” Growly was just in time to tell her before she ran off.

“Wha… woaahh…” with the fast sprint and an instant quick stop, Flavia almost lost her balance and fell facedown on the ground. “Really? How do you know?”

“I… looked around…” Growly was getting more and more confused about the never ending questions.

“You’ve already looked? When? We’ve been here only a few minutes and we haven’t checked the whole room yet,” the charming bunny girl furrowed her eyebrows.

“I noticed this one right after we have entered the room. It was easy to spot,” the bear boy explained calmly.

“Easy to spot? But the one you’re holding in your hand is exactly the same as all other rocks in the room.” Flavia waved with her hands for extra emphasis.

“Teehee~. Oops, sorry.” Lilna chuckled after seeing Flavia’s frustrated reaction.

“Maybe it just looks that way to us?” Emilia intervened. “Growly’s dad is a craftsman. And Growly is learning to become one as well. He probably can see the difference easily.”

“Oh, yeah. That’s right,” that explanation was enough to have Flavia return to her normal self.

“I don’t want to interrupt, but… we should probably get going.” Narias suggested after a short pause.

“Ready,” Growly threw his backpack on his back.

“I’m sorry. I’m all ready now.” Emilia was ready too.

“H… hey, hold on. I need to get my backpack,” Flavia rushed to pick up hers.

In the meantime, Belinda Salroze was observing the students and taking mental notes about their interactions. She wasn’t intruding, or giving the group any advice, or even saying anything for that matter. But from the expression on her face, it looked like she was pleased with how the exploration was going.

The group left the current room and went on their way. There were two paths to choose from to leave the cave room. As before, the group left the decision with Narias again who decided to choose the right path.

It took them much longer to reach the next room. The group encountered three more Fanged Wolves on the way. All three of them were level one monsters. However, the creatures didn’t drop any Magic Crystals after being defeated. The students weren’t really upset about that, though.

The next room the group has reached was smaller than the previous one, but still had some monsters in it. Only a few Fanged Wolves and a small group of Dungeon Crawlers were inside. All level one monsters too. After the monsters were defeated, they found two more Magic Crystals which the group decided to give to Narias and Growly, one each. Everyone was ok with it since they knew they might find some more. Unfortunately, Growly didn’t see any Crystalized Mold inside the room, so they simply moved on.

There was only one path to the side that led out of the small cave room, which also made it easy for the students. They’ve picked up they stuff and were on their way. The next tunnel path was much narrower than the previous ones, but was still wide enough for two people to walk side by side. Strangely enough, the group hadn’t encountered any more monsters as they walked.

“Hey, there’s another room in front of us,” Flavia informed quietly, yet with a hint of excitement in her voice. “Let’s see how many monsters are ins- huh?”

The girl student with the bunny ears peeked inside the room, but then made a confused facial expression.

“Is something wrong, Flavia? Oh…” Narias came closer to see and then instantly relaxed. He turned back to the others to inform what he saw inside. “It’s ok. No monsters inside.”

The rest of the group came to the entrance of the room. It was much smaller than the previous cave rooms they had passed. Nor it had too many places for the monsters to hide. In addition, the room was much brighter compared to the other rooms.

“This cave room looks weird. And why is it empty?” Flavia looked disappointed.

“I don’t know.” Narias was looking around. “It doesn’t look like it is the Supply Point room.”

“The Supply Point room? Isn’t that a room with no monsters where the dungeon explorers can rest safely?” Lilna was trying to remember.

“Yeah. But this one looks different than the one we’ve found when I was here with Instructor Dreknor.” Narias wasn’t convinced it was a Supply Point room.

“How did the other one looked like, Narias?” Emilia wanted to know.

“For one, it was much smaller than this room and it was clean of any debris, rocks and the like. It really resembled a room where you could rest.” Narias told her.

“Bummer. It’s a dead-end room with nothing in it too. Baah…” Flavia dropped her shoulders. “Now we will have to go all the way back.”

“Well, we’ve just started our dungeon exploration.” Narias tried to cheer her on.

“Yeah, don’t worry about it, Flavia.” Lilna joined in.

- ‘Clink. Clack.’ - While the rest of the group was talking about an empty cave, Growly was busy inspecting the surroundings.

“Treasure,” the chubby beast-boy’s comment made Flavia’s ear jump up straight.

“What did you say, Growly?” She was next to him in the next two seconds.

Woah. She’s so fast. Narias couldn’t believe how fast Flavia’s mood changed.

“I found treasure.” Growly repeated his words.

“Really? Where?” The half beast bunny girl was looking around.

The rest of the students came to see as well.

“Here,” Growly was pointing with his finger.

“Huh? Oh, is that another Crystalized Mold rock?” Flavia was curiously inspecting the oversized rock.

“Sorry, I can’t tell the difference.” Lilna couldn’t make anything out of it.

I honestly can’t tell the difference. Narias decided to keep his thoughts to himself.

“Not Crystalized Mold. Treasure,” the chubby bear boy probably lost patience, because he took out a pickaxe and hit the same rock he was pointing at with it.

The rock crumbled easily and dusty chest emerged out of it.

“WOAAH!” the surprise in everyone’s eyes was evident.

“A treasure chest? Woohoo! Growly, you’re amazing!” Flavia even hugged him from excitement.

“Ah… ok,” the fury boy was happy yet had a confused, ‘How come you couldn’t see it?’, expression on his face.

No way. A real treasure chest? Narias couldn’t believe it.

The really strange part was, the chest was made out of wood with the rusty hinges holding it together. The wooden part of the chest was also somewhat rotten and slightly crumbled, but surprisingly, the chest still held together.

But neither of us could see the chest here. I know I checked the room thoroughly to see if there were any monsters inside. I’m certain I would’ve noticed the chest. It was the same with the Crystalized Mold. Does that mean Growly can see these things while other people can’t? As excited as Narias was, he quickly picked up on it.

“Growly, how did you see that the chest was here?” Narias wanted to know.

“The chest?” The chubby bear boy had to think about it. “I couldn’t see the chest right away, but the rocky surface around it looked unnatural. After I came closer to inspect it, only then I noticed there was something inside it.”

“Wow, amazing,” Flavia was impressed again.

I see. Could it be that Growly can see these things because he works with his dad to become a craftsman? Or is it something else? Narias was trying to understand again.

- ‘Click. Crack.’ – while Narias was thinking about it, Growly went on to open the chest.

“Come on, let me see what’s inside?” Flavia wanted to see. “Huh? ‘Soft Steel Mineral.’ What’s that?”

“Good find,” Growly looked happy about it for some reason.

“Huuuh?” Narias on the other hand, looked perplexed.

“What’s wrong, partner?” His unexpected reaction made Flavia curious.

“Oh, aaah… nothing. Don’t worry about. Haha,” Narias laughed it off.

Seriously? The items inside the chests have their names displayed on them too? Narias couldn’t believe how much the chest and the item inside it resembled the video games from his previous world.

“Can I take it?” Growly asked somewhat carefully.

“I don’t mind,” Flavia was the first one to answer.

“I wouldn’t know what to do with it.” Lilna said.

“It is fine with me.” Emilia added.

“What about you, partner?” Flavia turned to Narias.

“Huh?” he was still full in thought. “Oh? Yeah, sure, no problem.”

“Thank you,” Growly reached inside the wooden treasure chest.

As soon as the Growly picked up the item from the chest, the display name on it disappeared.

“What? The name displayed on it disappeared?” Narias was confused.

“Yes. While in the chest, it tells us the item’s name, so we know what it is. When we take it out, the display name disappears.” Growly explained.

“Wow. I did not know that,” Narias said.

There are still so many things I don’t know about the Magic Dungeon. This is sooo awesome… As surprised as Narias was, he could barely contain his excitement.

“So, what are we doing next?” It sounded like Flavia didn’t want to waste any more time. “We will need to go back, right?”

“How about we have a short rest to eat, or at least have a drink first?” Narias suggested.

“I’d love that,” Lilna was in favor of it.

“I think it’s a good idea.” Emilia agreed with Narias’ suggestion too.

“Food is good.” Growly was all for having a snack.

“Right. Now that you’ve mentioned it, I feel a little hungry too. Ghee…” Flavia rubbed the back of her head with a grin.

“Ok, let’s have a break then.” Narias confirmed.
