“Would you like some, Miss Salroze?” Narias offered a snack to the teacher.

“Thank you, but I have brought some of my own,” she refused politely.

“Oh, ok,” he took it for himself instead.

“I have to wonder,” Belinda threw a curious look at Narias’ and Growly’s backpacks. “Your backpacks are certainly overfilled. Mind if I ask what do you have in them?”

“That’s just some extra food and drinks we’ve picked up… Just in case, you know…” Narias answered with a mild smile.

“Extra food and drinks? Isn’t that a little too ‘extra’ for a couple hours of dungeon exploration?” Miss Salroze asked, not actually having anything against it.

“Well… we kinda want to explore more of the… I mean, we don’t know how long it would take us to find the boss monster, so…” the group leader added, without giving the details of what his group was really trying to achieve.

“Boss monster, eh?” The teacher somewhat smirked. “I have to admit you guys are doing much better than I thought you would. I actually might let you engage the dungeon’s boss monster on the first floor.”

“No, no. We want to beat the boss monster on the second floor.” Flavia’s words shot out of her mouth.

“Wha- cough, cough… The boss monster… aghem… on the second floor?” Belinda choked on her food after hearing it.

“Ah, sorry,” Flavia felt she was at fault for making the teacher choke on her food.

- ‘Gulp,’ – Belinda had a drink from her bottle.

“Phew… Apologies. Ahem… Let me get it right. You want to go as far as to reach the second floor, and to defeat the boss monster there too?” Miss Salroze regained her composure.

“Yeah,” the energetic bunny girl grinned.

“Ghm…” Belinda furrowed her eyebrows, throwing a stern glance at Narias after that. “What makes you think I will allow that?”

“What?!” Flavia jumped, while the rest of the group stopped eating or drinking.

“What are you saying, Miss Salroze?” Narias stood up.

“I am saying that all of you are first-year students. You don’t think I will risk any of you getting seriously injured, do you?” the violet-haired teacher crossed her arms in front of her.

“But we are strong enough to go to the second floor,” Flavia insisted.

“Hah, and how do you know that?” Belinda threw a stare at the bunny girl.

“Eek!” Flavia backed off, but then quickly straightened up. “But we’ve beaten all the monsters so far with ease.”

“Yes, you did. But those were only level one monsters. We haven’t encountered any level two monsters yet. In addition, the boss monster, Whitemane Fanged Wolf, is even stronger than any other monster on the first floor. You are quite capable. I will admit that. And you just might be able to defeat it. But the monsters on the second floor are much stronger. Level four monsters are almost as strong as the Whitemane Fanged Wolf. There’s no way you will be able to reach the boss monster on the second floor,” the teacher explained her point of view.

“And how do you know that?” this time, Narias was the one to raise his voice.

“What?” Belinda was more taken aback by his tone of voice than by his question. “Sigh… It doesn’t matter. My word is final.”

What? No, she can’t do that. I was so looking forward to it. This… this is unacceptable. Narias clenched his fists.

“You can’t do that!” He suddenly declared even louder than before.

“Huh?” his words startled everyone who heard it.

“Everyone trained so hard, so we could go to the Magic Dungeon together. I was so looking forward to it myself. The main reason I have enrolled into Reina’s Magic Academy was because it had a Magic Dungeon exploration as part of its curriculum. I was so excited when Instructor Dreknor offered to take us to the Magic Dungeon earlier this year. I couldn’t wait to come back here again. I know it is dangerous. Everyone here does. Besides, I wouldn’t want anyone here to get hurt either. Including you, Miss Salroze. But you can’t tell me we cannot do something before we even tried.” Narias was so intense, he spoke to the teacher as if they were equal. In all fairness, they were basically the same age.

“Wow…” Lilna, Narias classmate, covered her mouth with both hands.

Emilia was simply staring at Narias, eyes sparkling with admiration.

“Way to… Eer… sorry,” Flavia wanted to cheer him on, but then backed off.

“I agree.” Growly said, then took out another snack from his backpack.

“Hmph…” Belinda Salroze closed her eyes for a brief moment, then stood up without saying a word. “I’ll go check to see if there are any monsters around while you finish eating.”

With those words, the teacher walked off.

Oooh craaap… What did I just say? She’ll tell us to leave the dungeon now for sure. Nooo… Me and my big mouth… Narias looked like he was about to cry.

“That was awesome, partner,” Flavia slapped him on the shoulder with a cheerful smile on her face.

“Huh?” he turned to her.

“That was so brave of you, Narias.” Lilna added.

“You… you were really amazing, Narias.” Emilia said with a flush.

“Good speech.” Growly was happily munching on his second snack.

What? They’re not mad? Narias was surprised.

“S… sorry… That must’ve sounded really harsh…” he threw one of his hands behind his head, feeling embarrassed.

“Definitely. But it was cool too.” Flavia grinned at him. “Besides, all of us feel the same way too.”

“What? Really?” Narias looked at each of his teammates only to see supportive and encouraging faces. “Wow, thanks. Still, I might’ve overdone it. Now Miss Salroze might be too angry and wouldn’t let us go deeper into the dungeon.”

“Hah. We’ll just go forward ourselves.” Flavia didn’t see a problem with that.

“But disobeying the teacher might get us in trouble.” Emilia pointed out.

“Ah, right. That’d be bad,” the excited bunny girl put on a silly smile.

“I… I better go and apologize. Hopefully we can still continue with the exploration,” said Narias.

“I’m sure we will.” Flavia was optimistic.

“I can give her the treasure if she wants.” Growly offered.

Hah. Narias almost laughed out loud at Growly’s gesture.

“Thanks Growly, but I don’t think she’ll accept it,” he smiled at him. “I’ll go talk to her now.”

Narias walked towards where the teacher was by himself with the rest of the students staying where they were.

“You certainly have guts,” Belinda commented without turning around after she heard him approach.

“Ah… well… I apologize for being so rude back there, Miss Salroze,” he apologized. “I just…”

“It was a compliment… Just so you know,” the female teacher said, still looking forward in front of her.

“Oh, thanks…” Narias rubbed the back of his head with one hand. “Excuse me, but… you won’t order us to go back home, will you?”

“Hmph…” Belinda lowered her head with her eyes closed. “You were truly serious about what you said, weren’t you?”

“Ah, yeah…” he raised his eyes to look at the teacher.

“Tell me, what makes you think your group is strong enough to go down to the second floor of the dungeon? Or even to defeat the boss monster down there?” Miss Salroze turned her head to face him.

“I don’t know. I mean, I can’t say for certain that we are strong enough to do that. It’s our first time inside the Magic Dungeon, after all. But I can say we are ready to give it our all. I know the monsters are real and they are dangerous. If I see it is too much for us to handle, I’d definitely turn around and leave. But I don’t want to go back and then regret about not trying at all.” Narias spoke with his head somewhat lowered down.

“Hmm…” Belinda turned her face away, more so to hide her smile.

“I mean, if this is our last dungeon exploration, I’d rather explore it as much as possible,” he added without thinking.

“Your last dungeon exploration?” that got Belinda’s attention.

“Well, isn’t the school planning to close it down?” Narias asked.

“Where did you hear that?” the teacher turned to face him fully this time while unwrapping her arms as well.

“Oh… I mean…” Narias realized he said too much.

“Sigh… So, the rumors caught on,” she looked up, trying to think about something. “Yes, lots of things are happening at the moment. But just so you know, Jean, as well as most of the teachers in the academy, are doing everything they can to keep the Magic Dungeon exploration open. That includes me as well. That is one reason I don’t want anyone to get hurt. A student getting hurt during their first dungeon exploration is just another excuse to push for the Magic Dungeon to be closed down.”

“But if we perform well, we can vouch for the dungeon to stay open, right?” it was more of a statement than a question.

“Huh? How much do you actually know?” Belinda pierced him with her violet, sparkling eyes.

“Ah… well…” Narias squirmed, realizing he said too much again.

“Hmph… No matter,” the athletic female teacher lowered her head for a brief moment before looking at Narias again. “Let’s agree on one thing. If I see it is too much for your group to handle, I will have us turn around and go back. And you will have to listen to me.”

She even pointed her finger at Narias when she said that.

“Yes, certainly. Thank you, Miss Salroze,” Narias became so excited after hearing the teacher’s words, he instantly grabbed her hand with both of his. His reaction wasn’t something the female teacher expected him to do. “Oh, aaah… sorry.”

Aaa… Not again. I need to remember to control my emotions. He scolded himself after letting her hand go.

“At least this time you didn’t grope my che- ahem…” Belinda was about to say something, but became embarrassed instead. She turned away from Narias, so he wouldn’t see her charmingly flushed face. “Make sure to tell what I said to your teammates as well. I’ll wait here until you’re ready to go.”

“Ok, thanks again, Miss Salroze,” he quickly rushed off to inform about it to everyone else.

Tch… I let me guard down. I can’t believe it I was about to make a joke about him groping my… Humph… He’s just another student, so why in the world do I… Belinda looked at her hand while quietly thinking about something. I’m not telling Jean about this for sure. Hmm…

Narias went back to tell his teammates that the exploration was still on. Everyone became excited to know that they are free to go as deep into the dungeon as they want, provided they will be able to do so. That just helped to add extra motivation for the students to do their best. The group was pumped to keep going.

Since the room they were in was a dead end, the group had to go back and find a different way. They went to the previous room they’ve been to and took the path they hadn’t gone through yet.

The party didn’t waste any time. The students quickly took care of the monsters they encountered on the way. A few more cave rooms and a few more Magic Crystals for the group. The group kept exploring the dungeon for another two hours after the last stop, but they weren’t able to find the boss monster. After yet another encounter, the party hit a dead end again.

“Hey, this room is different than the others.” Flavia pointed out.

“Yes, it definitely is.” Lilna added.

“Would this be one of those Supply Point rooms?” Emilia was the one to figure it out first.

“Yes, I think it is.” Narias agreed with her.

“Really? So, we have found a Supply Point then?” the energetic bunny girl exclaimed excitedly. “But wait, there’s nothing there.”

“Yes. Nobody was coming to the dungeon for a while, remember?” Narias reminded her, then took out a bottle of water and a sealed snack from his backpack. He then placed them on the ground to leave for someone else. “We’ll leave them here.”

“Leave them? Oh, right. For anyone who might come here after us, right?” Lilna remembered.

“Yes,” said Narias.

“Ok then, I’ll do the same as well.” Emilia was about to take some more food from her own backpack.

“It’s better if you keep yours for later, Emilia,” but Narias stopped her.

“Huh? Why?” the girl with the snow-white hair asked.

“The thing is, we’re not familiar with the layout of the Magic Dungeon yet. Which means it might take us much longer to find the boss monster. So, we will need as much food and water for ourselves as possible. Of course, it would be bad if we didn’t leave anything behind, so I left some because I have extra. We probably won’t find anything in any of the Supply Points that we come across going forward, so leaving some in each one is better than leaving a lot in just one. Someone who comes into the dungeon after us might need it, or we might come back the same route ourselves.” Narias explained to his team.

“Wow, I would’ve never thought about it this way.” Flavia was impressed. “Ok, the next Supply Point we find I will be the one to leave some food and water behind.”

“Hey, that’s not fair. I wanted to do it just now.” Emilia pouted her lips.

“Ghee…” to which the energetic half beast bunny girl simply grinned with a tease.

After a short break, the group was ready to continue explore the dungeon.

“Excuse me, Miss Salroze. Can I ask you something?” Narias asked before they left the Supply Point room.

“Yes, what is it?” the female teacher looked at him suspiciously.

“I was wondering about the Supply Point room,” Narias put a finger to his lips full in thought.

“What about it?” Miss Salroze straightened up.

“The thing is, the Magic Dungeon has a reset cycle, which resets the dungeon entirely. But apparently it doesn’t affect the Supply Point rooms. The food and drink, or probably any other items that we might leave behind, stay there unaffected for someone else to find. How is that possible?” Narias wanted to know.

“Oh that,” Belinda smiled mildly. “The short answer is… I don’t know.”

“Huh?” her answer surprised not only Narias.

“The Supply Point rooms are only one of the many mysteries inside the Magic Dungeon. I have my own guesses, but that probably won’t answer your question. The Supply Point room must be outside of the Magic Dungeon reset cycle area. That’s probably why no monster can set foot inside it as well. Or it could be something entirely different. One other distinction about the Supply Point rooms is that they always stay the same. Heh, they aren’t even affected by magic,” the athletic female teacher raised her hand and chanted a spell. “Lightning Strike.”

“Woah!” her unexpectedly casting a spell startled the students, but the Lightning Strike spell fizzled as soon as it hit one of the walls.

“See? I’d say this is one of the few good things inside the Magic Dungeon, even if we can’t explain it.” Miss Salroze said, before adding a satisfied smirk.

“Cool,” Growly commented in his usual manner.

“Wow, that explains a lot.” Flavia added with her usual wide grin.

“That’s good to know. Thank you for explaining it to us, Miss Salroze.” Emilia thanked the teacher.

“My pleasure. Now then… huh?” Belinda was about to pick up her bag, but then noticed Narias was looking at her in a strange way. It made her feel uncomfortable for some reason. “Is something… wrong?”

“Oh, sorry. No. I was just… thinking how amazing your magic was.” Narias threw one hand behind his head after realizing he was staring.

“Uh? Well… Thank you…” his compliment threw the flustered female teacher off, which also added a shade of red on her cheeks too.
