“Ah, that looks delicious. Where’s it from?”

“That stall over there.”

“Hagasaki-kun! Share that with me!”

“Eh, no.”

“…What are you doing?”

“Trying to figure out where to bite so the sauce doesn’t spill.”

It’s a lively scene.

Everyone seems to be having fun, acting their age. Yep.

As for me, I just finished eating a flatbread sandwich with fillings.

The filling was shredded lettuce-like greens and grilled meat, apparently venison. The meat, seasoned heavily with salt and pepper, was savory, and the tomato sauce, relying on the meat for its salty flavor, brought out its natural sweetness and acidity. It was delicious.

There was also a sandwich with chicken marinade that looked refreshing. Maybe I’ll try that one too.

Then I bought something like clam chowder soup and candied nuts, and sat on a bench to eat.

“Can I sit next to you?”

Kariya sat next to me on the bench.

“Kariya, are you full?”

“Just taking a break. I bought this to eat while sitting.”

He showed me a bag of sweets, resembling fried mini donuts with icing.

“Want some?”

“Ah, I’ll have some, thank you.”

I tried one; it had a refreshing lemon flavor and wasn’t too rich.

“It’s delicious, isn’t it?”

“Yes, it is.”

Kariya happily munched on the sweets.

“This is tasty too. Want some?”

I offered him the bag of candied nuts, and he took one to try.

“This is good too.”

“Right?”

The roasted nuts and the crisp, sweet candy coating were irresistible.

“I wish we had done this kind of thing sooner.”

“Well, we only just got around to it. We’ve been quite narrow-minded until now.”

Considering we discovered a town but chose to cook for ourselves and didn’t even think of living in the town despite being able to teleport, we were quite inefficient.

Who’s to blame? Me? Is it my fault? It must be.

“Let’s do more things like this until Carissa and the others finish their work.”

“Indeed.”

So, what to do next…

“Hey, how long are you guys going to keep eating?”

…Ah, yeah, okay! It’s fine to talk after you’ve swallowed!

“What to do next.”

“Dragons…”

The decision was made instantly after wondering what to do.

So, everyone split up to do their own thing.

Suzumoto, Hariu, and Toriumi dragged Kariya, the healer, to go dragon hunting.

Kadomi-kun and Tera-san flew around 1F.

Hagasaki-kun also flew with Shuura-san.

And Katori holed up to build his Number 4 machine, while President secluded himself to make poisons.

As for me, I wanted to tour Deichemoore and Eitzol, but I didn’t want to risk getting stolen again and causing trouble for everyone, so I decided to stay in and prepare dinner.

Suddenly craving meat buns, I decided to make them! Along with chive buns, xiaolongbao, a Chinese-style egg soup, and almond jelly for dessert. Perfect for a day like today, considering the prep time needed.

When I finished preparing dinner, the dragon hunters returned.

“Welcome back. How was it?”

“Look what happened.”

Suzumoto was petting a giant bird’s neck, Hariu rode a butterfly-winged dragon, and Toriumi rode a dinosaur-like dragon, looking exhausted, supported by Kariya.

“You guys are fast.”

They even managed to fly around (though Toriumi ran)!

“Maybe we’ll go around the world on these tomorrow.”

“I wonder what’s at the edge of this world.”

It’s great to see them having fun.

…Could this world be connected like a torus?

“Ah, we also picked up some Origins.”

…Yeah, that explains why Toriumi was so exhausted.

When I looked, three Origins were tied up.

Wow, impressive.

“I’ll collect them.”

Collecting the three Origins immediately revitalized Toriumi.

“Probably, we won’t need to eliminate Origins anymore.”

Should we return them to the Demon Lord when we leave?

Kadomi-kun and Hagasaki-kun returned, and so did the two who were holed up, so it’s time for dinner.

“What will we do tomorrow?”

“Shall we check out the edge of 1F North, as we were discussing earlier?”

Now that more people can fly…

“Then I might follow in Number 4.”

Katori had apparently finished building his Number 4. What an enigma.

“Then I guess I’ll stay behind.”

Oh, President is staying behind.

“Then president, come with me tomorrow for sightseeing in Deichemoore. I haven’t really seen it.”

It’s a shame not to explore the city on the water.

“Sure, I don’t mind.”

Great! I’ll get to sightsee!

“…Honestly, I’m tired of 1F… Can I come too?”

Oh, Kadomi-kun wants to come too.

…Well, yeah. He’s been flying around 1F all day. No wonder he’s bored.

“Kadomi-kun, did you go to the edge?”

When Toriumi asked while eating a meat bun, Kadomi-kun looked a bit proud.

“I did.”

“What’s at the edge? What’s it like?”

When Hariu asked, Kadomi-kun mischievously responded…

“…It’s a secret.”

Is it really a torus-style world?

The next morning…

I woke up early to make lunchboxes for about six people going on an excursion to the world’s end. As for us touring Deichemoore, we’ll probably buy food there.

Despite worrying about the lunchboxes being too monochrome, I think I managed a good color balance this time.

Haha, I’m evolving.

For breakfast, we had Japanese cuisine. After all, we’ve had Western and Chinese meals recently…

“So, we’ll check out the edge of 1F North.”

“I’ll go sightseeing in Deichemoore with Maito-san and Kadomi-san. We’ll also visit Carissa.”

I wonder how Carissa and her group are progressing. It would be problematic if they’re not doing well.

“Can we call Maito if we find any Origins?”

“Please do.”

Otherwise, we might end up like Toriumi yesterday. He was pretty wiped out.

With the dragon group gone, I joined President and Kadomi-kun to visit Carissa.

“Excuse us.”

I made sure to make noise with my footsteps and knocked on the door before entering.

“Ah, welcome.”

But only Kinoshita-kun was there.

“Where are Carissa and Shureira-san?”

“They’re in research mode… I’m kind of in the way.”

Ah, I see. That makes sense.

I always thought the sisters were like cats. They come and play when they feel like it, and ignore you when they don’t. They’re cute like that.

“How’s the research going?”

When President asked, Kinoshita-kun responded with a wry smile.

“It’s going well… Ah, I should prepare brunch soon.”

Apparently, Kinoshita-kun takes care of the sisters’ daily needs, as Shureira-san, usually responsible, neglects her routine when engrossed in research.

Like feeding chicks, Kinoshita-kun provides food for the researching sisters, helps them bathe like children, and forcibly takes them to bed at night.

Otherwise, they’d continue researching non-stop, neglecting meals and sleep.

Ah, the life of a lab animal…

“We’ll contact you when we make more progress.”

“Alright, thank you. Please send my regards to Carissa and Shureira-san.”

“They probably won’t listen, but I’ll tell them…”

I can sense Kinoshita-kun’s hardships!

Then, it’s time to teleport to Deichemoore for sightseeing!

“Let’s start our tour.”

“Yay!”

“…Yay?”

As we enjoyed the morning sun in the streets, it was time for sightseeing!

“Let’s start with the unpleasant part. To the southern area.”

“…Ah.”

I didn’t expect it to still be frozen…

“It was unexpected.”

“Wow…”

“Typical Hagasaki-kun.”

Previously, he had frozen people who stole me in this area, but to my surprise, they were still perfectly preserved.

“Didn’t Hagasaki-kun say it would last two weeks?”

“What should we do with this?”

“What do you mean…”

Leaving them like this is starting to feel wrong, isn’t it?

While the three of us were discussing,

“Hey, what are you doing?”

A group of about three magicians approached.

“Oh, we were just looking at these frozen people.”

I couldn’t tell them we were responsible for freezing them!

“Ah, those guys. They’re the local troublemakers. Always stealing and even kidnapping, causing us a lot of trouble.”

…Considering that, maybe what we did wasn’t so bad?

“Since they suddenly turned into ice sculptures here, we’ve been coming daily to refreeze them.”

…Ah, I see…

That explains why they haven’t melted. They’re being refrozen daily. Well, that’s how it is!

Despite starting off with mixed feelings, I ended up enjoying the sightseeing trip.

This town has many areas where movement is primarily by boat through waterways, which made for a fun boating experience.

Itoigawa-senpai’s country is built in the middle of the ocean with no water around it, so in a way, it’s similar to land, but this town has many buildings constructed over the sea.

It was quite interesting to see such structures.

For lunch, we went to a restaurant (actually, this was my first time dining out in another world!), and then we spent the afternoon exploring unique shops in this world, thoroughly enjoying ourselves until we got a call from Suzumoto in the evening.

[Can you come over here?]

In the evening, upon receiving the call, I immediately used “Teleportation,” borrowing Suzumoto’s view.

The destination was the sea.

…Does this mean the north and south are connected?

“Maito, go ahead and walk towards the sea.”

Urged by Suzumoto, I walked towards the sea, though I was suspicious.

…Whoa!

“There’s a wall!”

What’s this all about?

There’s an invisible wall, and I can’t enter the sea. The wall doesn’t budge when I hit it. It’s like… just before touching the wall, the force seems to dissipate.

“This seems to be the end of the world.”

Hmm… the attainment of the world’s edge is rather anticlimactic…

“Shall we go back?”

“Yeah.”

After gazing at the sky beginning to turn shades of red and the strangely calm sea reflecting the light, we decided to return to the northeast area of the 2nd floor.

…When I think about it, the northeast area of the 2nd floor has become our “place to return to.”
