He could see in the darkness but the dusty wind storm was blocking vision. They were crossing the boundary line when Qiao stopped at the big crevice. It was deep and narrow. It was easy to trip inside the crevice however once tripped barely anyone could make a comeback. "I wonder whether these crevices are present throughout the third island or across the boundary line." Qiao spoke jumping from above the crevice.
"I can sense these are present everywhere." Lam answered. It opened the transformed green lines that have doubled importance. This transformation enhanced senses. Lam could use them for sensing any type of danger and several other benefits of similar nature.
Qiao nodded. This means the third island would bring different type of challenges. He was yet to think what kind of planning could help when someone came rushing in the wind storm. The hunter stooped seeing that the team leader was inside the territory of the third island.
"Team leader, there is a problem. One of the affiliated hunter fell in the crevice in his ignorance. We are unable to help him. I was sent to search you and inform." The hunter huffed and puffed before speaking the worry. Rushing in the wind storm took much toil and he exhausted.
"Oh bring us there." Qiao spoke looking at Lam. It was gesture for the loyal monster to keep strict lookout for the openings during their journey. Lam understood and walked ahead. They were walking in the wind storm again. "Where is the second group?" Qiao asked the hunter.
"They are at the upfront waiting for the morning and lead the migration." The hunter told what he was aware until now. "Sure the monsters would have faced these openings after entering in the third island?" Qiao asked. It was possible that the monsters might also face the same problem.
"No they are safe. This third island is present from ages and the monsters take this migration every after some time so they are quite familiar with the place. The native hunters are also well versed with the diversity of the island. Only the affiliated hunter had never been here before so he got caught in the opening due to the ignorance." The hunter explained.
Qiao nodded. He was also oblivious about these fissures. They finally reached. Two hunters were looking down whereas the affiliated hunter was asking for help. It was narrow fissure and they were unable to bring him up. There was not enough space for the hunter to move his body freely and climb up.
He was squeezed between the hard rocks after fall. Also there was no single feasible spot for climbing. Both hunters stood aside seeing the team leader. Qiao looked down inside the fissure. There the hunter hung on small space. He could not if he did then he might fell in the bigger fissure near down.
Qiao could not order the hunter to try climbing. It would be dangerous. His stones were giving enough light but he could not find something helpful in this situation. His eyes fell on the fleece of the hunter and the idea hit his head.
"Take off your fleece." Qiao asked the hunter standing near. The hunter got shocked. He was frightened actually. "What for?" he barely mumbled. He was thinking things wild and horrible. Perhaps the team leader was tired of them and wanted to throw them in the fissure and get rid? Qiao was not holding his expressions. He was looking grim and ruthless.
Qiao was taking look at the depth of the fissure then he ordered, "All of you should take off your fleece." With his order it was confirmed that he wanted to use them either to bring up the hunter and go down with him. They could see that no matter how hard they work, none would be able to bring the hunter up at the surface.
"Why are you worried? Just give this fleece to me." Qiao spoke again. The hunter hurriedly handed him the fleece. Qiao joined them to shape rope. He threw the temporary rope down to estimate, the rope was still short. He took off his fleece and joined.
Now it was perfect. Qiao held the corner and uttered, "Take hold on it and we will bring you up." He gestured other hunters to pull the fleece once the hunter grab on it. They did the same. The hunter was worried and thought that perhaps they would give up on him and leave in the morning.
But to think that the team leader would come up with such easy way to bring him up; there was gratitude in the tear filled eyes when the hunter reached at the surface. The hunters were usually heartless. They easily give up on the injured or the companion that caught in trouble by chance. "Since this island has several fissures then everyone should carefully walk around." Qiao simply patted the hunter and advised others.
They admired the witty and sober team leader. In the same situation other team leader might have used these hunters even if he had had been generous to help the fallen one. This might have resulted one or two fell inside in the process. It was said that hunting tempered the intellect however for most of the hunters it was otherwise.
They temper yet their thick brains barely learn smart ways. For Qiao it was normal of handling simple stuff. He was genius university student admitted on scholarship. He was smart but poor student. Most of the hunters could not help but get moved by his ways.
