His favourite pro-gamer’s asking him if he likes to sign onto his team.

How can there be any other answer?

“I’m willing!” Jing Yu replies with these two words, impossibly certain of himself. In fact, his certainty even makes Qin Fei backtrack. Why does he feel as if he’d just asked some incredibly life-changing question just now?

Hmm. Signing on to be a pro-gamer, it is indeed a very big life matter ba?

“Very well. I’ll contact the Manager tonight and get him to send the contract over.” The way Qin Fei is speaking, it’s as if he’s no different from the Boss.

Jing Yu doesn’t think too much about it, nodding once. Then, it hits him. He lets out a soft “ah” in realization: “Tonight…”

“Oh. You’re not free tonight, are you?” Qin Fei immediately responds, “It’s nothing. You can leave early. Tomorrow, when you’re coming, just remember to bring your luggage with you.”

Jing Yu sighs in relief, obediently humming, “En.”

When facing Qin Fei, he always has this sort of tense feeling — While wanting to be noticed by Qin Fei, he also doesn’t want to be too enthusiastic and upset Qin Fei because of it. This conflicted heart makes him slightly at a loss as to what to do, so he can only present his most docile image. Not begging to please, but only begging to not offend – This line precisely describes Jing Yu now.

His caution is naturally picked up by Qin Fei. But besides wanting him to relax a little, he also can’t say much, so he lets him be.

Two people step into the living room one after another, settling down on the sofa. Then, Qin Fei-Sama** opens his mouth in an offhanded manner: “Ye Zi, pour a cup of water for me!”

(**Sama 大大; is a Japanese Pronoun; also used to address a superior in Eng context)

Ye Hong, who has just came out of the washroom, didn’t manage to escape his fate of being a chore boy in the end. He can only somewhat helplessly abide, retrieving two cups of water from the water dispenser to serve to Qin Fei’s face while looking at Jing Yu: “Little Goldfish, drink some water ha**~”

(**ha 哈: like ah)

“Thank you!” Jing Yu is flustered. Clearly, he didn’t expect Ye Hong to also get him a drink too.

“No problem~” Ye Hong smiles, picking up the cake from the coffee table, “If you guys are not eating the cake, then I’m keeping it in the fridge. This will be our breakfast tomorrow.”

“Sure.” Qin Fei lazily replies. Jing Yu naturally doesn’t object.

With Ye Hong around, the tension instantly drains out of Jing Yu’s frame.

Be it his looks or his voice, everything about Ye Hong makes Jing Yu feels comforted.

Although he plays recklessly in the game as pg’s mid-laner, in reality, this person actually gives Jing Yu the impression of someone who’s very easy to get along with.

After stuffing the cake in the refrigerator compartment, Ye Hong plops down opposite the two people and directs a question at Jing Yu: “Little Goldfish, how long do you need to get home from here ah?”

“Around an hour.”

“You live quite close ah.” Ye Hong is surprised, “Does your parents approve of you going pro?”

“I don’t have any parents.” Jing Yu answers evenly with a quick smile, “That’s why, it’s fine. I get to decide for myself.”

“I’m sorry.”

Even if Jing Yu doesn’t look like he minds, Ye Hong still politely expresses his sympathy.

Jing Yu hastily replies: “It’s okay la.”

Qin Fei glances at Jing Yu, then quietly diverts his line of sight. As if he hadn’t snuck a glance at the other, he remarks: “The review this time might take a while. Let’s hope the Coach doesn’t drag it out to after dinner.”

“Huan?” Jing Yu yelps in surprise. He didn’t think the review would take that long.

Being an extremely punctual game anchor, he likes to ask — Can he leave halfway through the review session? Can he???

Just like that, Jing Yu spends the next half an hour worrying, making a trip to the washroom mid-way.

When the time’s up, Fang Luofan hollers for everyone to assemble in the Conference Room, turning on the projector to start his assessment.

But before he can say a word, Qin Fei has already beat him to the chase: “Jing Yu has some things to attend to this evening. Let him go back first ba. You can tell me his part. I’ll relay it to him tomorrow.”

Jing Yu peers at Qin Fei, dumbfounded. Even more so than gratitude, he’s shocked – How did he know what I’m thinking?

Upon snapping back, he turns his gaze towards Fang Luofan, the hope in his eyes tangible.

Fang Luofan meets his gaze with good humour: “I’m fine with it. My understanding of Frozen Heart’s abilities isn’t that strong anyways. This will give me some time to consolidate. In that case, Jing Yu, you go home first ba. Be careful on your way back. Tomorrow, come a bit earlier, okay? Is 9 o’clock alright?”

“It is.” Jing Yu dips his head, pulling himself to his feet, “In that case, I’m leaving?”

Fang Luofan: “En, go ba.”

Luo Yiming: “Go, Pikachu!”

Ye Hong: “Take care of yourself on your way back. We’ll see you ‘morrow.”

Han Leng: “Nine o’clock! Don’t be late orh!”

Qin Fei: “See you tomorrow.”

Jing Yu lowers his head and looks at Qin Fei. He smiles slightly: “En, see you tomorrow.”

With this, he takes his leave from the Conference room.

Not long after his departure, Luo Yiming uses both hands to prop up his jaw, inflating his cheeks and grumbling: “He only said ‘see you’ to Fei Ge.”

Qin Fei glances at him.

Luo Yiming immediately sits up straighter than a pencil: “Coach, Coach! Let’s get started already!”

Fang Luofan “En“s in assention: “You’re right. It’s about time too. You guys made too many mistakes during this game. Even if you give me a whole night, I won’t be able to finish going through them.” Pausing, “Especially you, Luo Yiming.”

Luo Yiming is KO-ed in a second, falling flat on the desk.

“Let’s go through the summary first. Then, we’ll focus on the problems one by one.” Fang Luofan briefs, the line of his sight flitting over his laptop to land on Luo Yiming: “Yiming, your situational awareness is still horrendous. So long as nobody’s updating you, you don’t even know where or when the enemy will gank you.”

He says this with an expressionless face. Without giving Luo Yiming a chance to reply, the mouse on the screen points at True Arrow: “Look here. Frozen Heart’s timing when he appeared is just right. Yet, you totally didn’t keep up.”

“And also, this. The enemy has Release in their hands, so Frozen Heart lulled before using Ult. Yet, you charged up, just like that.”

The video that is showing is precisely the two times Frozen Heart wanted to seize the enemy’s Bottom Lane but was instead counter-attacked with ease.

Coincidentally, these also happen to be the two times Luo Yiming tossed the pot on Jing Yu, saying his directions have problems.

He was absorbed during the game, but now that the Coach has explained it, everything becomes clear.

Luo Yiming is instantly guilt-ridden to the point where he doesn’t know what to do.

The side viewer Ye Hong supports his head with a hand, coolly throwing him another knife: “That’s why I said~ Your own veggies, why do you keep throwing the pot on Goldfish?”

“Luo Yiming is born with low situational awareness, so we’ll just put that aside. But Han Leng, what about you?” Fang Luofan reproaches again, looking at Han Leng.

Han Leng coughs awkwardly: “I thought I would be able to protect Frozen Heart with my Shield…”

“Indeed, Frozen Heart’s HP is far lesser than I thought. He’s very difficult to rescue with a shield. The outcome turned out like this because we used an unfamiliar demon. However–” Fang Luofan’s expression becomes severe, “Since we’ve decided to accept Jing Yu as part of pg, we must familiarize ourselves with his cache. The way I see it, Jing Yu’s Frozen Heart is pretty capable. It totally has the potential of becoming our trump card in PGL.” Pausing, “Do you all understand?”

pg‘s members individually made sounds of affirmation.

Jing Yu’s Frozen Heart is very strong — The enemy might not think that way, but having played as Jing Yu’s teammates, they don’t doubt that statement in the slightest.

After reviewing the game, they’re all clear. If they were able to assist Frozen Heart with his sneak attacks today, the practice match would have had an entirely different outcome.

“In this aspect, Ye Zi did it pretty well.” Fang Luofan calls things as he sees them, throwing a praise where he sees fit, “To date, the one who coordinates best with Frozen Heart is Ye Zi. However, your playing style’s too proactive. Jing Yu has some difficulty syncing up. time, you can drop a warning beforehand to let him prepare in advance.”

“It’s all okay, I believe in Goldfish.” Ye Hong grins.

“But he doesn’t believe in you.” Fang Luofan draws blood with one stab, “Also, what’s the deal with your latter half?”

“……” Just like that, Ye Hong’s smile stones on his face.

“Hitting the wall, missing — Are you an amateur?” Fang Luofan shoots him a glare, “You’re no different from Luo Yiming in the latter half!”

Ye Hong draws his shoulders up to his ears, unable to refute.

, Fang Luofan turns the spearhead on Han Leng and Qin Fei:

“Han Leng, your mistakes were few, or it’s better to say, the longer the game continued, the more stable your performance became. You did an excellent job of following Jing Yu’s lead. There’s only your overestimation of your Shield and Frozen Heart’s health left. time, take note of this.”

“Understood, Coach!” Han Leng nods his head wildly.

“Qin Fei… Let’s just put aside those times you gave a ridiculous order. As the solo-laner, you played pretty well. Tanking, opening team battles, whatever you need to do, you did it. Still, if it’s you, this can be done even better.”

“En.” Qin Fei doesn’t dispute it, “It’s been so long since I played solo-laner. I underestimated the opponent’s situational awareness. Let’s get the manager to arrange a few more practice match ba.”

“We’ll do that.” Fang Luofan nods his agreement, “In any case, after we sign on Jing Yu, we’ll need to make some adjustments to our practice matches. One: In the matches after today, Jing Yu and Qin Fei will take turns directing, commencing the handover of the command. Two: your latter half is still too poor. time, no matter whether it is Ranking or Standard, drag the game out to half an hour at least to practice the latter stage. Three: With regards to Jing Yu’s cardpool, you must all familiarize yourselves with them. To date, we know there’s Frozen Heart…”

“There’s also Moonshadow Spider and Mandala Petals.” Qin Fei adds.

“En, then, we’ll first get used to these three.” Fang Luofan declares, flipping on to the next page, “Alright. We’ll evaluate the game now, starting with Luo Yiming.”

Whilst pg is busying themselves on this side, on the other, Ane is also diligently going through their assessment.

After the evaluation, Ane‘s Coach closes his eyes, saying this one line: “Before the preliminaries, make sure to familiarize yourselves with Frozen Heart — time we’re up against them, it won’t be this easy to win anymore.”

When Jing Yu gets home, it is just 4.30pm. He retrieves a bottle of cola from the fridge, pulling off the cap to gulp down a large mouthful. Then, he sits on the top of his bed, dazing out.

After a few minutes, he pulls himself up to place the half-empty cola on the desk, quietly tidying up his luggage.

To sign up with pg, he should be very happy.

Indeed, he is delighted — To be able to stand shoulder to shoulder with Qin Fei in a battle.

But why is it that his heart keep bearing an odd, unshakable fogginess?

Jing Yu doesn’t have many belongings. As such, he quickly finishes his packing.

After munching on some random snacks, he eyes the clock to open his broadcast at 6.

【On the dot as usual!】

【Does Goldfish-Sama have OCD?】

【Good evening ah Goldfish!】

“Good evening.” Jing Yu greets. His tone lacks all of his easy-goingness in the past. Without even the slightest desire to tease and ask what they want to see him play, he cuts to the chase, “I’m entering the game.”

The moment those words fall, he immediately clicks into Ranking mode. When it’s his turn to pick his demon, he doesn’t even think about it. He instalocks Moonshadow Spider.

【Huan???】

【Not playing Frozen Heart today??】

【Goldfish-Sama, whash wong? Not in a good mood today?】

【Who made you angry la?】

Jing Yu doesn’t even glance at the barrage, wordlessly entering the game interface, wordlessly controlling his Moonshadow Spider, using 23 mins to win the game.

21 Kills: 6 Deaths: 8 Assists

【So violent…】

【Too aggressive…】

【Goldfish, did your Aunt Flo come to visit?】

【Drink more warm water ah Goldfish.】

After checking the post-battle score, Jing Yu turns his head to check the comments barrage and nearly spews out a mouthful of blood: “You guys… I am a man!”
