Chapter 118: An Underachieving School Hunk and Bully (25)
Translator: asassin
Gu Cheng turns around and leaves, not disturbing them.

Huh, to be young again.

When one hour is over, Gu Cheng picks up his phone and sees a message.

Food is on the table in the living room. I’m out for some chores. I’ll prepare a big dinner tonight. Remember to invite that girl to stay for dinner.

Gu Cheng glances at Ah Zhao, who’s moving a mint with her hands and turns downstairs.

He brings upstairs the snacks that Gu Hong has prepared for them.

“My dad’s an excellent cook!”

Ah Zhao stops for a second, not understanding why Gu Cheng suddenly brings that up.

He continues: “I’ve eaten at both a five-star hotel and a Michelin starred restaurant, but neither could compare to my dad's cooking.”

Ah Zhao envies him: “You are so lucky.”

How happy it is to be able to have delicious food everyday.

Seeing her eyes lighten up, the corner of Gu Cheng's mouth goes up: “He doesn't have time this afternoon but he’ll prepare a big dinner tonight.”

A big dinner!

Ah Zhao tries hard not to show her eagerness.

Gu Cheng almost can’t hold back his laugher. She can't know that there are little stars in her eyes.

How cute!

He extends his invitation timely: “Do you want to try my dad’s cooking?”

Yes!

Ah Zhao screams yes inside but remains reserved on the surface: “Is that all right?”

Couldn’t help himself, Gu Cheng finally turns away from her and laughs out loud: “It’s okay. My dad likes you a lot.”

Ah Zhao agrees to stay as expected.

The two of them studies until four o’clock.

Gu Hong is back carrying packages of groceries.

“Uncle Gu, do you need any help?” Ah Zhao asks.

Gu Hong looks at her and says with all smiles: “It’s okay. Go and have fun, Zhao Zhao.”

He then asks: “Do you prefer Chinese cuisine or Western food, Zhao Zhao?”

Ah Zhao doesn’t have a preference in terms of that, but in comparison...

“Chinese food.”

Gu Hong nods and turns to his fool of a son: “Gu Cheng, come with me and wash the vegetables.”

Gu Cheng touches his nose. Look at dad. Gu Cheng knows all along that he's at the bottom of the food chain in his family. His mom, the queen, always comes first. His dad is her loyal knight. As for Gu Cheng himself, he’s probably given to them complimentary when they paid their telephone bills.

And now, little bunny is more important for his dad than he is.

However, he doesn’t hate that. Instead, he follows his dad into the kitchen and is still there when his dad’s cooking.

Gu Hong is surprised: “I remember normally you don’t like this.”

Gu Cheng is silent for a second before he says: “Tang Zhao likes good food.”

He and his dad are more like brothers than son and father so he doesn’t hide his feelings for Ah Zhao in front of his dad.

Gu Hong starts to laugh and pats him lightly on the head: “Kid, how old are you and you already know how to adapt to girls’ taste?”

Gu Cheng tilts his head and avoid that pat, smiling after his father: “Well, she’s a real cutie. I have to become the guy for her.”

Thus, no matter how many guys appear in her life, she will find that none of them is as good as the one she has by her side.

Gu Hong looks at his son, who’s nearly as tall as he is. He shakes his head and can’t help laughing. The time when he was courting his own wife suddenly comes back to him.

“As your dad, I don’t object to it, nor will I stop you from doing what you want to do. Just ask yourself. If you are sure that she's the one, then go get her and don’t have any regret.”

Gu Cheng look down at the soup in the pot. The soup in the red pot boils and steam rises up.

But he feels a sense of peacefulness.

“I feel that I’ll never have the same feelings for another person for the rest of my life.” He puts his hand on his chest and says softly.
