Bai Mu Ye was stunned when he got the audition.

Having signed Sky Star not long ago, he never expected success to come easily. He had planned to find a suitable role and take a step forward a time.

But an audition for The Qin Empire?

For the male lead?

With a little thought, he realized that it must have something to do with Ah Zhao.

“Yes, it’s me,” When Ah Zhao answered his call, she admitted frankly.

Bai Mu Ye wasn't happy about it. “Miss Lu, I hope you understand that I’m different from your exes.”

He simply wanted an equal relationship and didn't care how much fame or power Lu Yuanzhao had.

“I know. Mu Ye, I hope you understand that I never see you as one of them,” She said seriously. “I would do nothing more than spending a little money and getting them into a film. But you are different. You are my boyfriend. I hope to give you the best within my power.”

With a frown, Bai Mu Ye wanted to speak but there came a knock on the door.

He went over and opened the door. In front of him was none other than Ah Zhao.

“Why are you here?” He was surprised.

Ah Zhao hung up and smiled: “How can I not find the apartment that Sky Star has allocated to its artists?”

She sat down and opened her mouth: “I think it is better that we talk face to face.”

As soon as she brought it up, Bai Mu Ye turned gloomy but still brought her a cup of juice.

“I don’t want to get a role through your influence.” He knew what he said might upset her but he said it anyway.

Ah Zhao’s eyes widened. “Who said I got you the role?”

Bai Mu Ye paused. “What?”

She said smilingly: “I simply got you an audition.”

Bai Mu Ye stared at her blankly.

She laughed. “I know you wanted the male lead but didn't make it to the audition because of your training schedule.”

Her eyes were on him. “I believe in you so I just got you an audition. I've told Director Zheng that if you aren't qualified, you won't get the role.”

Bai Mu Ye’s face froze. “Who isn't qualified?”

Good-tempered, Ah Zhao nodded. “I believe you are qualified.”

Quietly, his lips drew in a line. After a while, he asked abruptly: “What did you pay for that audition?”

She answered casually: “A little investment.”

He had heard of Director Zheng and didn't believe that “a little investment” would change his idea.

He stared at her. “How much is a little?”

She sighed and raised a finger.

Bai Mu Ye took a breath. “You are out of your mind!”

She lay backwards in the cough, relaxed, her eyes narrowed. “So come on, don't let my investment end up a dowry for someone else.”

Bai Mu Ye never thought he was inferior in any way to others, however, this time, there was a rare uncertainty in him.

“What if I fail?”

Ah Zhao sat up and got close to him.

Then, she held his face and kissed him: “I believe in you.”

Their noses touched, their eyes met. He could see the light in her eyes, as bright as the stars.

“For you are my male lead.”
