I could feel the bitter silence of the place, but it only lasted a moment until the Wooloo's trainer started running towards the battle arena and stood beside it before taking out a vial from his pocket.

"Wooloo, hang in there, you'll be okay soon!" He began to get hysterical as he sprayed the contents of the vial onto the Wooloo. When he finished, he returned Wooloo to its Poké Ball before rushing towards the exit. As he finally disappeared through a door, the man in the chair could be heard using the horn again and said:

"Congratulations, the winner is Foxuark!"

"Will you continue or withdraw?" He said without any concern, as if this were an everyday occurrence in this place. The observers who were impressed before just continued watching as if nothing had happened, except this time they didn't seem as uninterested as before.

"We'll continue." I barely uttered those words, and the man said, "Next challenger, please!" And I had to face other trainers consecutively. Some had more than one Pokémon, but they were easy to defeat, and Buneary only seemed a little tired and bored.

All my sister did was use and then until the opponent's Pokémon was defeated. It wasn't much different from when we faced Rattatas every day, except that now my sister and I can use stronger and better moves.

The battles were very easy, and it didn't feel different from grinding XP in the old Pokémon games for GBA. Where you had to press the space bar to speed up the game and then the arrows to move the character in the tall grass, or in any terrain where Pokémon appeared, and finally press the same keys over and over again when a Pokémon appeared to grind XP monotonously until the PP ran out or the HP dropped considerably, and then go to the Pokémon Center to recover them and repeat the routine.

I could only feel disappointment. I thought even the other novice trainers were stronger, although I believe my effort is very high due to what I went through with Liza's Pokémon, even the dog that accompanied her and caught me in seconds, which was already very impressive even though it was KO'd by just one of mom's attacks. That means I have to become stronger if I want to face people who are stronger and thus avoid getting involved with the typical villainous or mafia teams with very questionable goals.

As I was trapped in my thoughts, I saw the door on the opposite side of the battle arena open again and a boy with gray hair and eyes came in. He entered through the door and when he entered the battle arena, many of the spectators who were in this place began to whisper, and some even pointed their Poképhones at the boy.

Is he someone famous? I really need to gather information, I don't know anything about this world, let alone this city. I don't know if it's in some kind of war, peace agreement, or if it's under threat from the typical terrorist villains from the Pokémon series.

When the boy stood on the other side of the battle arena, he said to me, "You must already know who I am, but let me introduce myself. I'm Reinor Lisolar. I thought coming here would be quite boring, but who would have thought that I would see someone so ruthless that they would use a very trained Pokémon to completely crush the novices' Pokémon. I hope you don't disappoint me and that we have a fun Pokémon battle. So can you tell me your name?" He said in a haughty voice and seemed completely sure that he was going to win.

For a moment I felt the urge to say 'I'm Batman' or 'I'm your father', but he seems too well-known and I don't want to get into trouble for a simple joke. I don't even have an identity, and I don't want to cause too much trouble for Liza, and if I'm going to do it, at least I should have something to gain from it.

"I'm Alex, nice to meet you," I said the first name that came to mind, but it's just a one-time thing, so there won't be any problem.

"You don't have to invent a name to avoid telling me what your name is, sweetheart. Still, I wish you good luck because you'll need it if you want to beat me." I felt quite upset by what he said to the point of wanting to jump on him and use all the biting moves I learned to tear his neck apart. But I calmed down when I saw how my sister seemed quite angry at what he said, and that made me very happy because it shows that she appreciates me.

The man sitting in the chair used his horn again and said, "The battle will start after the countdown, go to your positions." I looked at the presenter, and now that I think about it, he seems quite tired and depressed. I think the atmosphere of boredom in this place is because of him. He doesn't even seem to have any hint of energy and it feels like he's being forced to come to this place against his will.

I ignored that thought because I'm not interested in meddling in other people's lives, and I don't like gossiping either. So I focused on Reinor, who used a Poké Ball and the Pokémon that appeared was an Eevee.

5!
4!
3!
2!
1!

"Begin!"

When the presenter gave the signal to start, Reinor's Eevee jumped several meters and then swung its tail, which had started to glow before launching star-shaped projectiles towards my sister.

"Buneary, return the move." I had to order her as quickly as possible because of how sudden the attack was.

Thanks to her great reflexes and instinct, my sister jumped back and used before swinging one of her ears to replicate the same move as Eevee. When she launched the same star-shaped projectiles, they ended up clashing with Eevee's move, and then Eevee used to approach my sister.

My sister didn't manage to react in time, or so she thought, but when she received Eevee's headbutt when it used , she stood completely firm before hitting Eevee with her ear and ended up launching it a considerable distance. But Eevee did a half somersault before landing on all fours, and as my sister and I watched it, I suddenly felt a bad feeling and could see how Eevee's body began to emit a faint glow and Reinor put his arm in front of his eyes.

It didn't take me long to realize what he was planning to do, and I instantly shouted to my sister, "Close your eyes!" and she obeyed me. After a short time, I could see a huge glow coming from Eevee, but it didn't affect me because I had already closed my eyes and covered them with my arm. Although I don't think it affects me too much because of the great distance between us. For a moment I remembered that I was wearing a mask and I didn't remember that, because it doesn't feel like I had it, but I don't want to find out if the flash affects me at this moment.

When I opened my eyes again and saw how Eevee jumped again and it seemed like it was going to use another move, it made me a little angry. It doesn't seem to be listening to any orders from its trainer and it seemed like a battle between two completely independent wild Pokémon, but for some reason I felt happy and excited. It's not as boring or repetitive anymore, I prefer something of this same difficulty than facing the other novices who seemed like their Pokémon had just hatched from an egg and reminded me of the first battle that Red and Blue had in the anime.

Eevee is moving without orders from its trainer, so I should allow my sister to do the same and give him a beating that will prevent him from facing us again.

Even though I still had my eyes closed, I told my sister, "Buneary, use and then attack it however you want!" and I began to open my eyes and saw how my sister multiplied by two and both ran towards where Eevee was. But she didn't use any other move because it would give away which one is the real one.

I could hear his trainer's shout, "use . Get away with and attack from a distance using ."

Eevee obeyed its trainer and used . But to its misfortune, it ended up crashing into the clone and only ended up passing through it. Before Eevee could react, my sister approached it and jumped and used and ended up launching Eevee out of the battle arena.

She landed quite elegantly, but when we thought we had won, Eevee just got up and jumped back into the battle arena, only it looked quite injured with bruises all over its body and kept trembling from the pain. Despite that, it seemed like it was still completely determined to keep fighting and my sister responded to that by using .

And when she was close enough to Eevee, she used and Eevee staggered before counterattacking using its tail. When my sister's fist and Eevee's tail collided, both were propelled several meters away and their bodies tumbled on the ground several times before coming to a stop.

The place fell completely silent for several seconds and we were all watching to see if any of them would get up. To my good fortune, my sister ended up getting up, only she was covered in bruises.
