Although he really wanted to drive him away, Li Xi hesitated to dismiss Clemens before Duan Zhen’s team concluded their battle. Pressuring him might reveal his true nature in front of others, just like this one was doing.

Clemens, seemingly indifferent, simply conversed with Li Xi, as if that’s all he came to do.

This nonchalant demeanor heightened Li Xi’s alertness; he suspected him of plotting something behind the scenes.

As time passed, even though Li Xi was delayed by him, the battle on Duan Zhen’s side was nearing its end. With no corpses to manipulate and Li Xi’s talisman blocking the absorption of souls, the necromancer stood no chance against Duan Zhen.

After several rounds of struggle, the mage, now covered in dust, lay defeated on the ground.

Seeing the impending end of their battle, Li Xi gestured to Clemens with his eyes.

“Opportunities like this are hard to come by, let’s extend the playtime,” Clemens, seemingly oblivious to Li Xi’s intention, suggested with a smile.

Sensing trouble, Li Xi’s magical energy surged. As expected, a clash ensued as they wrestled control over each other’s magic. Inadvertently, Li Xi lost control, and Clemens dragged him into the body of the necromancer.

The undead mage groaned as its body exploded with a bang.

Reacting swiftly, Li Xi erected barriers in front of himself and Duan Zhen, narrowly avoiding the gruesome spray of blood and flesh.

“What a pity,” sighed Clemens. “I didn’t get to see Phil stained with blood this time.”

Unfazed, he allowed a few droplets of blood to land on his mouth, casually licking them off.

“You really don’t discriminate,” Li Xi frowned, distancing himself from him.

“No matter how filthy humans are, their blood is always sweet,” Clemens chuckled. “Perhaps it’s a gift from the God of Light.”

“The God of Light wouldn’t want to hear your praises,” Li Xi clicked his tongue. Catching a glimpse of Duan Zhen’s team approaching after a brief investigation, he glared at Clemens discreetly, warning him, “Leave quickly, or don’t blame me for being impolite.”

Realizing that Clemens had set a trap earlier, causing the necromancer to explode, Li Xi acted swiftly to avoid getting blood on himself. He valued cleanliness, and being tainted by the undead mage’s blood would undoubtedly make him nauseous.

Moreover, with Duan Zhen so close, he would have been even more affected!

With this thought, his face darkened for a moment. Ignoring Clemens, he hurried towards Duan Zhen.

“Brother Duan, are you okay?” His voice shifted into an anxious, sweet tone. “The necromancer suddenly blew himself up. Did it hurt you?”

Grabbing Duan Zhen’s hand, he quickly assessed him, making sure he hadn’t been splattered with any blood. Only then did the tension in his expression ease. “It’s good that you’re okay.”

“What was that barrier in front of Bro Duan just now?” Xia Qirong, covered in blood, loudly complained. “Why didn’t we have one? Li Xiaoxi, you secretly favored Bro Duan again!”

Wasn’t that obvious? Sun Le had no desire to ask about it.

“It’s my ability,” Li Xi said softly. “But I’m still too weak. I can only protect two people at a time. I’m sorry.”

The beautifully delicate young man looked bewildered, even Xia Qirong couldn’t handle it. He quickly waved his hands, “No, no, you’re already amazing to create such a barrier!”

Li Xi pursed his lips. “Because I’ve been watching Brother Duan all along, so subconsciously, I used it on him.”

Duan Zhen’s expression slightly changed, and he reached out to pat his head. Li Xi had anticipated this, having removed his hat in the corridor earlier to allow his hair and Duan Zhen’s hand to intimately connect.

He could feel her hair being gently tousled.

Li Xi’s face blushed slightly.

“Thank you,” Duan Zhen said.

“No, you’re welcome,” Li Xi stammered. “Brother Duan has taken care of me a lot, so I should repay you.”

The still clueless Xia Qirong felt the atmosphere was lively, but in Sun Le’s eyes, Li Xi had practically written his thoughts on his face. Unfortunately, Duan Zhen on the other side couldn’t read a word.

Silently, he wiped the blood off his face with his sleeve.

Since the necromancer had exploded, the uncontrolled monsters outside should have returned to dust. The group planned to return the way they came.

Li Xi followed behind Duan Zhen, seizing an opportune moment when nobody was paying attention to casually rub off one side of the magic circle with his foot.

Once everyone had exited the corridor, he used magic to slam the iron door shut, relying on others not seeing, destroying the magic circle.

In the Demon Lord’s game, such prohibited items should be kept to a minimum.

Fortunately, Duan Zhen’s group had no suspicions about the sudden closure of the door. Everyone safely walked out of the corridor, reached the first floor, cautiously looked around, and discovered that all the monsters had disappeared, and the skeletons outside the main gate were nowhere to be seen.

“Now, all we have to do is leave the hospital to complete the mission,” Li Xi said, showing impatience.

Mainly because the bloody smell from the two people beside him was too strong, making him regret not blocking it for them.

… He didn’t have that thought at the time.

Quietly using magic to block his sense of smell, Li Xi felt more at ease.

Duan Zhen glanced around. “Where’s Bai Hua’s team?”

“Their mission is different from ours,” Li Xi waved his hand. “Now that the monsters are gone, once we complete the mission, they’ll be teleported out as failed participants.”

He casually used “us” repeatedly, making it sound natural.

Duan Zhen glanced at him, seeing the boy holding his hand with a bright smile on his fair face, he didn’t retort.

“Isn’t there a spy in the mission?” Xia Qirong looked at his smart wristband.

“The spy is Bai Wu,” Li Xi said seriously. “Once in the dining hall, I saw him secretly smiling at me. None of the others in Bai Hu’s team would do anything when he asked them to do something else.”

“And now that the necromancer is dead, looking for the spy is useless. In this place, the spy is also under his control. He dies, the spy dies naturally,” Li Xi casually cursed Clemens.

He seemed to make sense. The group continued walking out, and Xia Qirong, with a smile, approached, saying, “This time, we were led by Li Xiaoxi.”

Although he couldn’t smell it now, Li Xi swiftly dodged to the other side of Duan Zhen, looking at him cautiously. “Don’t come near with all that blood!”

Then, realizing what he had just said, he softened his tone by a hundred times. “I didn’t really do much; Brother Duan must have thought of everything. If it weren’t for Brother Duan and you all protecting me, I would have died in the pile of monsters long ago.”

Just in case Xia Qirong’s praise made Duan Zhen think he could navigate the world on his own. Li Xi wondered what he would do if he didn’t bring him along next time?

A tenth of animosity towards Xia Qirong sneaked into Li Xi’s pitiful little eyes.

Duan Zhen, oblivious, patted Li Xi’s head and praised him, “You did very well this time.”

The boy’s hair was fine and soft, feeling like silk. Duan Zhen couldn’t resist giving him another pat, feeling Li Xi gently nuzzling his hand, incredibly obedient.

His heart softened a bit.

Being praised, Li Xi’s eyes lit up, and he hypocritically said, pretending to be modest “There’s still room for improvement.”

During the conversation, they reached the entrance, where bones were scattered all around, and Bai Er’s corpse lay on the side of the road.

Li Xi’s attention shifted, looking at Bai Er with no apparent emotion. “What a pity, in this world, dying means really dying.”

“In any world, death is death, isn’t it?” Xia Qirong commented.

“Here, death means losing your soul as well.” Li Xi paused and added.

Come to think of it, Clemens had disappeared at some point. It was probably not his real body, just a clone sent to block them in the small world. Li Xi could do the same, but he came down to date Duan Zhen, using a clone felt disrespectful, and it seemed a bit impure.

For a fleeting moment, Li Xi’s thoughts took a naughty turn, blushing intensely, he buried his head in Duan Zhen’s arm.

Duan Zhen thought he was afraid of the skeletons all around and used his other hand to gently stroke the back of his head.

Honestly I thought Clemens would make way more trouble considering how the previous chapter ended! Oh well, I’m sure there’ll be other moments with him in the future ^-^
