In the corridor, there were many monsters, but with the protection of teammates, Bai Hua didn’t suffer any harm. This was expected, as it was an intermediate-level instance, and the monsters, despite their numbers, weren’t excessively powerful. The teammates he carefully selected were more than capable of holding their ground.

Unfortunately, the likes of Bai Er, the scout, were quite rare, and finding another one might take some time.

Bai Hua reached the fourth floor without encountering any issues. His physique had been strengthened, allowing him to easily climb to the fourth floor. His goal was to find the laboratory mentioned by Xia Qirong, which wasn’t difficult as it occupied a significant portion of the fourth floor.

However, the monsters on the fourth floor were more numerous and more aggressive than those on the third floor, indicating that he was getting closer to the crucial location. Bai Hua nervously picked at his nails, unable to resist loudly urging the others to pick up the pace.

The antidotes that could save lives should be in the laboratory. Once he found the antidotes, half of his mission would be accomplished.

Yes, his mission was entirely different from Duan Zhen’s team. His task was to uncover the hospital’s secrets and the real reason behind its decay.

The hospital’s secret was undoubtedly the potions that could cure any illness. As for the reason behind the hospital’s decay, it was likely connected to these mutated monsters.

As for how he knew about Duan Zhen’s mission, it was because their team unexpectedly had a person with a different mission. A little speculation led to the conclusion that this was a confrontational mission… although he hadn’t figured out why these two tasks were considered confrontational.

Regardless, he would soon be able to leave this cursed place. It was just a pity that the conditions were so favorable this time, yet he failed to deceive Duan Zhen and the beautiful person in his team. Their vigilance was much stronger than he had imagined.

Lost in his thoughts, Bai Hua didn’t notice that the members of his team were starting to show signs of fatigue and were being scattered by monsters.

By the time he reached the fourth floor and looked back, only Bai Wu, who had an ordinary appearance, remained by his side.

A wave of inexplicable panic surged within him, but fortunately, when he entered the laboratory and asked Bai Wu to stand guard outside, he could barely hear the sounds of monsters.

The laboratory was chaotic, covered in dark bloodstains, and the shelves were covered in dust. Bai Hua, however, didn’t feel the slightest disgust and began searching the shelves one by one.

After searching through most of them, he found nothing. His expression became increasingly anxious, and he regretted not searching during the daytime.

Suddenly, Bai Wu’s scream came from outside, followed by ominous chewing and roars. Bai Hua’s body stiffened; now that he was alone, if the monsters found him, he wouldn’t be able to escape.

In a panic, Bai Hua noticed an opening under the lab table and swiftly crouched down, using a concealment device he bought earlier to hide his presence. This precious item had a duration of only five minutes. He hoped the monsters outside would finish consuming Bai Wu and leave the area quickly.

He gritted his teeth, silently counting in his mind, while outside, something crashed through the lab door, moving around and producing clattering sounds.

Bai Hua’s heart pounded faster and faster. Suppressing his fear, he held his breath, and for a moment, all he could hear was the sound of his heartbeat and the footsteps of the creature.

The footsteps approached… closer and closer…

Gradually, the clattering outside stopped right in front of the lab table.

Bai Hua swallowed hard and, attempting to see what was happening outside, peered through a crack. Unexpectedly, he was met with a pair of eyes staring back at him!

In a horror movie, this would be considered cliché, but in reality, Bai Hua was scared out of his wits. Despite trying, he couldn’t produce a scream.

“What are you crouching there for?” the person outside spoke with a calm and gentle voice.

Although the person was at a distance, Bai Hua could see clearly now. It turned out to be Bai Wu.

“You scared me to death,” he complained instinctively, attempting to climb out. However, as soon as he stuck out his head, his movements froze.

Bai Wu was in a death state according to his contract, and individuals under his control never spoke on their own.

In the next second, he felt a hand grabbing his neck, pulling him out from under the lab table.

“Who are you?” Bai Hua, struggling against the forceful grip, asked unwillingly.

No one could escape his contract, especially not Bai Wu, who was supposed to be just a…a…

He suddenly realized that there was no Bai Wu1I didn’t mention it beforehand as to not spoil, but Bai Wu was referring to the “fifth” Bai or Bai Five which then makes sense as they’re originally only 4 on Bai Hua’s team. There were only four people in his team, and Bai Wu was the spy in the mission.

“Now you’re catching on.” Bai Wu sighed.

Now, he couldn’t call him Bai Wu anymore. That ordinary face melted underneath Bai Hua’s eyes, transforming into another one. The man had charming peach blossom eyes, a high nose, shoulder-length golden hair, and an exotic appearance. His thin lips slightly curved, revealing the canine tooth in his mouth.

Bai Hua didn’t know who he was, and his heart was filled with despair about his impending death.

He could see a multitude of monsters behind the man, varied in shapes, all prostrating on the ground, showing both reverence and fear towards this person.

“These stupid and disgusting creatures dared to spy on the lovely Phil.” The man looked at Bai Hua as if observing an insect that should be crushed underfoot.

“Don’t… don’t kill me.” Choking for breath, Bai Hua’s vision darkened, and he desperately clawed at the hand around his neck, unwilling to accept his fate.

This pitiful sight didn’t interest Clemens at all. With a dismissive gesture, he threw Bai Hua into the group of monsters. The consumption of an adult human proceeded quickly, and the scent of blood filled the air. Clemens, wiping his fingers with a white handkerchief, let out a small sigh.

On the other side, Li Xi, reluctantly following behind Duan Zhen, traversed the dim corridor and, as the time arrived, gently pushed the iron door open a crack.

Immediately, dust billowed out, causing Li Xi to cough uncontrollably.

Duan Zhen looked at him with some helplessness.

He really couldn’t handle anything without looking at it.

Covering his nose and mouth, Li Xi coughed for a while without receiving any affectionate pats. Eventually, he reluctantly put an end to his performance and, with his eyes wide open, looked inside.

Behind the iron door was a spacious room, with a person sitting in the middle, facing away from them, covered from head to toe in a large black robe.

“Be careful,” although Li Xi didn’t get the affectionate patting he wanted, he didn’t hold a grudge as he pulled Duan Zhen’s sleeve. “There’s a magic array on the ground. Don’t step on it.”

“A magic array?” Duan Zhen lowered his voice and asked.

“It absorbs souls,” Li Xi cooperated with him in a hushed voice. “As long as someone dies within the hospital’s range, their soul will be absorbed by the magic array, converted into power, and absorbed by him… probably using this method to heal injuries sustained earlier.”

“You got one thing wrong.” The person in the center of the magic array suddenly spoke, his voice hoarse like an old windmill: “Using souls to replenish oneself enhances longevity.”

He slowly stood up, and the black robe swayed with his movements. “As long as I absorb ten thousand souls, I can extend my life by a hundred years.”

“Oh,” Li Xi replied coldly.

The best way to prolong life is to enhance one’s strength. This person was probably a necromancer who had been trapped in a bottleneck for too long and was resorting to forbidden arts to survive.

“You won’t understand,” the necromancer turned around, revealing a face resembling a desiccated corpse, his eyes revealing greed. “Such immense magical power. As long as I absorb your soul, I can completely make up for the deficiencies.”

Li Xi felt that this guy might have been here for too long, causing his brain not to function properly. This necromancer was probably deceived into coming here by Clemens. After all, in the real world, killing a hundred people would end up with you being hunted by the Church2I have absolutely no idea what Church they’re talking about, I’m pretty sure I didn’t read anything about a church before on the novel so I don’t know if it’s just what Li Xi thinks is a “higher figure” like the police or something since he’s a noble lol?, let alone ten thousand. It’s more comfortable to play in the game of a Demon Lord.

Duan Zhen was still watching from the side. Li Xi shrank his shoulders, hiding half of his body behind Duan Zhen, and his voice had a hint of crying, “Brother Duan, I’m scared.”

“It’s okay.” Duan Zhen patted his shoulder. “You stay here and guard. If any other monsters come, just let me know.”

The necromancer hesitated. He could sense the abundant magic power in Li Xi’s body, which had even injured him during the daytime. However, now seeing Li Xi’s appearance, he seemed extremely weak.

His brain, which hadn’t been working for too long, dismissed these anomalies. After all, weak targets were more suitable for attack.

He raised the bone staff in his hand.

“Be careful not to damage the magic array. The rebound force will impact everyone,” Li Xi reminded.

Fortunately, although the magic array covered a large area, the space between the lines was relatively empty, and as long as they were careful, it wouldn’t hinder the fight.

Duan Zhen and the others approached, and Li Xi was about to cheat from behind when a gentle and soft voice came from behind, “Intervening in my game without permission, isn’t that mean?”

Li Xi glanced backward and saw the figure of a man appearing in the darkness.

The man had golden hair, red eyes, pale skin, and seductive red lips.

“No wonder I could smell a foul odor from afar. It turns out you’ve arrived,” Li Xi sneered.

“I could smell Little Phil’s fragrance from afar,” Clemens said, smiling, showing no signs of anger.

Li Xi’s eyes flashed with disdain.

Clemens was a vampire, addicted to blood like others of his kind. However, he had a more sinister and cruel taste. He enjoyed giving people hope only to witness the despair on their faces. He liked dismemberment, slaughter, and the sound of blood splattering.

Despite his angelic appearance, he was a complete demon.

“Phil is visiting my world for the first time,” Clemens smiled. “Unfortunately, I haven’t treated you well.”

“You’ve been watching from the sidelines for a long time,” Li Xi said coldly. “Bai Wu? Infiltrating a human team as a spy. You’re really bored.”

“It’s okay.” Clemens chuckled. “It’s better than Phil being so bored as to pursue a romantic relationship with a human.”

Dang, Bai Hua is a scummy leader to the bone! Also I’m really liking these Demon Lords, maybe my taste is warped but I do like Clemens lol
