Since everyone else was going to find offerings, after asking his question, Li Xi planned to be lazy, pulling Duan Zhen to go back and rest.

“If I remember correctly, you just woke up not long ago,” Duan Zhen wasn’t going to let him be lazy. “If you’re tired, go back and lie down for a while. I’ll go out to find offerings.”

“Why bother finding offerings,” Li Xi waved his hand. “You guys are searching in the sea for offerings for the Sea God, how could you possibly find anything?”

The Sea God presides over the ocean, and everything inside belongs to him. Searching for offerings in the sea is equivalent to someone taking things from your home to ask you for a favor. If you don’t slap them right away, that’s already good enough.

Duan Zhen was puzzled, “I remember you saying this is a complete world. Maybe we can go to the human side to find offerings.”

“That’s too troublesome,” Li Xi waved his hand, placing it next to his face, forming a flower, “The king said my beauty is irresistible even to deities. Maybe, even if we find a bunch of offerings, in the end, he’ll want me.”

Though he said this, if the Sea God dared to want him, Li Xi would knock his head off.

“Don’t talk nonsense,” Duan Zhen frowned, thinking carefully. According to the people’s obsession with appearances here, it might actually be true. He added, “On the day of the sacrifice, even if he really wants you, I won’t hand you over.”

“I knew Duan Duan is the best to me,” Li Xi happily hugged his arm. “Don’t worry; he won’t really want me. But regarding the offerings, I already have some ideas.”

“Hmm?” Duan Zhen looked at him.

“Although it’s called an offering, for deities like this, turning humans into merfolk is just a simple matter. There aren’t many things on this side that can interest him. The task won’t be that difficult for us,” Li Xi analyzed for him. “So, as long as we make the Sea God happy, singing a song for him, do you think he’ll be pleased?”

Duan Zhen didn’t know if the Sea God would be pleased, but hearing Li Xi say this, he himself was quite displeased. “No need,” he replied, his tone slightly harsh.

Li Xi squinted, realizing things were not simple. “Duan Duan, are you unhappy?” he asked.

After saying this, he felt the arm he was holding noticeably stiffen.

“You don’t show it clearly, but I often observe you, so I can tell,” he said with a smiling squint. “Singing a song is nothing, it’s not like I’m selling my body.”

“You don’t need to do that,” Duan Zhen said, reaching out to touch Li Xi’s curly hair. “You’ve already helped us a lot. Finding offerings should be done by us.”

Li Xi blinked his eyes, “But helping you is helping myself. If you guys do it, I have to stay here for a long time. Being in the water is too boring, and here, I can only eat energy bars or raw fish slices. I feel like I’m turning into a raw fish myself.”

He lowered his head to look at his fish tail, “Although the fish tail is very beautiful, but if Duan Duan doesn’t want to touch it, it’s useless.”

Duan Zhen didn’t know what to say, so he chose to remain silent.

Touching the fish tail was not going to happen; what’s the difference between that and touching the other person’s legs!

“So let’s go rest,” Li Xi said, lifting his veil to reveal almost invisible red marks. “Look, my injuries haven’t healed yet.”

Duan Zhen said, “You go…”

“I wouldn’t dare do it myself,” Li Xi lowered his eyebrows. “People here lust after my body, and I don’t have much ability. If I stay alone in the room, what if someone breaks in with malicious intent? Didn’t you guys get besieged in the house before? It shows the house isn’t safe.”

When first hearing his words, what he said seemed to make some sense, but upon closer inspection, it was clear he was just talking nonsense.

Nevertheless, Duan Zhen was convinced. After all, it was better being safe than sorry. Even if we exclude the possibility of someone breaking in and having ill intentions toward Li Xi, leaving him alone here might lead to other accidents.

“Alright,” Duan Zhen thought for a moment. “I’ll stay here with you.”

Li Xi’s eyes lit up, “Great!”

He happily flicked his fish tail.

Li Xi loved the water bed in the shell, so as soon as he returned, he plopped onto the bed, rolled around, and then looked at Duan Zhen.

Duan Zhen sat on the edge of the bed, seemingly not planning to lie down. He indeed had no intention of taking another nap after the morning.

“I’m going to take a nap,” Li Xi’s eyes flashed with cunning as he reached out to pat his fish tail. “I’ve been swimming to so many places recently. If I hadn’t turned into a merman, my legs would have surely cramped. Now, I feel tired even with this fish tail; it’s almost too heavy to move.”

He was desperately dropping hints.

Duan Zhen, on the other hand, blocked his signals.

Seeing him ignore him, Li Xi leaned over, proactively placing the fish tail on Duan Zhen’s legs and fake crying, “Wuwuwu, I’m so tired, and nobody pities me. Can you massage my fish tail for me?”

After agreeing to his overly intimate nickname, Li Xi seemed to have gone too far.

With the tail now on his legs, Duan Zhen, watching Li Xi’s pitiful expression, couldn’t bring himself to push him away. He compromised, “Lie down and tell me where it hurts.”

Although it was a fish tail, being this close, there was no scent of fish. It felt smooth, cold, and almost like a well-polished jade stone. Under the glow of the light pearl, it reflected a soft and warm light.

Looking at a fish tail, Duan Zhen naturally didn’t have any romantic thoughts. However, after Li Xi took off his clothes, revealing his strong waist, this so-called fish tail massage became a bit awkward.

Duan Zhen knew a bit about massage, but giving a massage to a fish was a first, so he was basically fumbling. Nevertheless, Li Xi was still humming comfortably, and the semi-transparent tail fin even curled up, rhythmically sweeping across Duan Zhen’s arm.

The awkwardness might be because Li Xi’s chosen nickname was too improper.

After massaging for a while, Duan Zhen stopped to look at Li Xi.

Li Xi, who was previously enjoying himself, suddenly stopped and squinted his eyes, muttering, “What’s wrong?”

He seemed to completely feel that there was nothing wrong with him.

“My hand is sore,” Duan Zhen held out for a while, finding an excuse to properly put the fish tail down from his leg.

“If your hand is sore, why didn’t you say so earlier?” Li Xi rolled over with a grumble, rolling over to his side and grabbing one of his hands. “Let me massage it for you.”

“No need,” Duan Zhen tapped his forehead. “Aren’t you going to take a nap? Sleep already.”

“It’s cold,” Li Xi acted pitiful, “You can feel it with your hand.”

Indeed, the hand was very cold.

Duan Zhen couldn’t help but frown. He turned to see if there were any blankets or something warm inside the shell. Unfortunately, besides decorations and the bed, there was nothing inside.

“Mermaids just find a place to float and sleep casually; of course, there won’t be blankets,” Li Xi yawned, pulling Duan Zhen’s hand. “Duan Duan’s body is warm; I’ll just sleep hugging you.”

Duan Zhen’s body paused, feeling the coldness in his hand. He sighed lightly, “Fine.”

He wrapped Li Xi in his arms, listening to the gradually elongated breaths, and surprisingly, he also began to feel drowsy.

Poor (not really) Duan Zhen has 0 protection against Li Xi’s charm lmao
