The shattered ruins seemed somewhat familiar, but before Duan Zhen could examine them closely, he felt himself being teleported away.

In his last glance, he looked at Li Xi, who wasn’t looking at them but instead gazing at the ruins, with a hint of nostalgia on his face.

With everyone gone, Li Xi took a deep breath. This world was probably an illusion created by Hewlett for him, so now the world was silent, without any sound.

Instead of leaving immediately, he started wandering around the ruins.

“You remember it very clearly,” he said.

“I once visited out of curiosity,” a lazy voice came from beside him, and Hewlett lay on a large rock, squinting in the sun. “I heard they’ve built a new city here.”

“Yes,” Li Xi curved his lips slightly. “It’s bigger and more prosperous than before, not bad.”

“…Sometimes I feel like you’re really not like a Demon King,” Hewlett shook his head. “Those guys from the Temple of Light, their brains are probably muddled by their holy water, to think they’d mistake someone like you, a good little boy, for a Demon King.”

Li Xi wrinkled his nose. “Why do I feel like you’re mocking me?”

“I’m praising you,” Hewlett sat up, black hair falling from his cheeks. “Are you planning to deal with the main system next? It has messed up so many of my little worlds. Hmm, they really thought nobody could touch it.”

“Turns out we just can’t find it,” Li Xi sighed. “The stuff from the tech side is too strange… But sometimes I find it quite interesting.”

“Not interested,” Hewlett closed his eyes. “I’m an uneducated rascal, those things aren’t my concern.”

“…You were taken over by the main system because you slept too long,” Li Xi said. “I’m leaving, you continue sleeping.”

He didn’t wait for Hewlett’s response, just left on his own.

Of course, he couldn’t give Hewlett a good face; listening to his words, one could tell he had been eavesdropping all along, otherwise how would he know about the main system?

Luckily, he hadn’t done anything outrageous; otherwise, it would have been a joke for Hewlett to see.

Li Xi returned to his territory angrily, everything in the house was as usual, just with a thin layer of dust. He waved his sleeve, a breeze swept through the room, blowing all the dust out of the door.

He took off his smart bracelet and threw it on the table, lying down on the bed in a sprawled position, feeling somewhat idle for a moment.

Well, he usually didn’t have much to do anyway. After constructing the game, he almost gave up the management authority due to the intrusion of the main system, focusing solely on researching spells, trying to find something from the magical side to suppress the system.

Occasionally, he would glance at the images in the game, which was how he noticed Duan Zhen.

“I should go find Dan Zuo,” he muttered to himself. “Yes, he’s trying to decipher the system. If he’s discovered, he’ll definitely be killed, that would be terrible.”

As if convincing himself, Li Xi stood up from the bed, opened the closet to change into a new set of clothes, looking at the row of fresh colors, lost in thought.

He forgot that he had changed all his clothes to colors young people liked in order to look younger.

Muttering to himself, he reluctantly changed into a white-based red-striped cat ear hoodie and jeans, then tousled his hair a bit. With the fluffy curls, he instantly regressed to eighteen.

But his current appearance was actually twenty-two.

Li Xi ran his hand through his hair, lifting the bangs to reveal a smooth and full forehead, then pursed his lips. That face finally showed enough aggressiveness.

He stared at himself in this outfit, but in the end, let the bangs fall back down.

—He had to lower the guards of others.

After pacing around the room for a while, Li Xi found a row of love guides and a diary on the bookshelf, with a lot of things written about Duan Zhen.

This is a bit too much… Li Xi now felt like a pervert.

He put the notebook down, after a while, stuffed it into the innermost part of the bookshelf, blocked by various magic books, then left with peace of mind.

On the other hand, the group of people who had been teleported away returned to their resting place, feeling a bit confused.

“Is the mission completed?” Xia Qirong looked puzzled. “Why do I still feel so dazed? What’s the truth? Didn’t we just have to survive for ten days?”

Duan Zhen scanned the crowd and indeed didn’t see Li Xi.

“Let’s talk about it later,” he said as he headed towards his room.

“Wait, where’s Li Xi?” Xia Qirong scratched his head, looking around at Sun Le and Dan Zuo. It seemed like he was the only one who didn’t know anything, which made him even more confused.

“Did he not get teleported again? He did this before, even though we were together, he ended up in a different place,” Xia Qirong rambled on while being dragged away by Sun Le.

“Go back to your rooms and rest for a while. We’ll meet at six in the evening for a debrief,” Duan Zhen glanced at them.

He felt like Brother Duan’s mood didn’t seem too good. Xia Qirong closed his mouth silently.

Dan Zuo caught up to Duan Zhen, wanting to say something, but Duan Zhen shook his head instinctively.

He fell silent, then after a while, suddenly asked, “Brother Duan, do you like Li Xi?”

Duan Zhen seemed startled by his question and instinctively said, “He’s still young.”

As soon as he said that, he noticed Dan Zuo’s strange expression.

He also realized that this reason didn’t seem quite right, swallowed nervously twice, but ultimately didn’t say anything.

The two fell into an awkward silence and went back to their rooms separately. Duan Zhen went into the bathroom, took a quick ten-minute shower, washed his face and shaved. Just as he finished cleaning up, he heard a knock on the door.

Thinking it was someone with something urgent, he opened the door, only to meet Li Xi’s gaze.

Li Xi pursed his lips, looking indifferent. Duan Zhen was about to say something when his mouth stopped in mid-air, his face blank for a moment.

“Are you trying to seduce me?” Li Xi’s tone was sharp. “I don’t like you anymore, this trick won’t work!”

Duan Zhen glanced at himself, dressed in a bathrobe, and could only see his collarbones. But Li Xi’s expression made it seem like he was standing there naked.

“I was just taking a shower,” he explained.

“Even if you’re clean, you can’t get on my bed,” Li Xi said sternly.

Duan Zhen couldn’t help but chuckle and reached out to ruffle Li Xi’s hair. “You’re still young.”

Li Xi slapped his hand away. “Excuse me, but I’m over two hundred years old. In terms of age, I could be your great grandfather.”

With that, he swaggered into Duan Zhen’s room and plopped down on the sofa. “I didn’t come here specifically to find you, I just don’t know where Dan Zuo’s room is.”

Duan Zhen sat down across from him. “Are you here because of the main system?”

“Of course,” Li Xi lifted his chin. “Do you think we’re willing to let you guys into the game? You’re all just ordinary people, playing without any meaning, and all coming in at once like this. If I hadn’t urgently expanded the space, you might have been torn apart by the temporal flux.”

After he finished speaking, he glanced at Duan Zhen’s clothes, then quickly looked away as if scorched. “Can you please dress properly? It’s unseemly to be so disheveled!”

Duan Zhen suppressed the urge to laugh, nodded, and went to change into a normal shirt and pants in the bedroom. When he came out, he could clearly feel a hint of regret in Li Xi’s gaze.

“I’ll continue to protect Dan Zuo,” Li Xi said. “So I’ll follow you guys to the instance, but I’ll do it discreetly. You don’t need to tell the others about my presence.”

“I won’t intervene to save you guys either,” he added. “Except for Dan Zuo.”

By mentioning Dan Zuo repeatedly, Duan Zhen felt a twinge of unease rising in his heart. He quickly realized what this feeling represented and lowered his gaze.

“After driving out the main system, what do you want to do?” Duan Zhen asked.

“Kick you all out,” Li Xi said. “This game is boring.”

He truly felt that it was boring, and he’d rather stay at home studying spells.

Seeing Duan Zhen’s silence, he thought he was contemplating this matter, so he spoke again, “There’s nothing to worry about. We come from different worlds, and this meeting was just an accident. Once we get rid of the main system, your world will return to normal.”

Duan Zhen looked at him and after a while whispered, “Okay.”

Then he suddenly asked, “Your memories haven’t fully recovered yet, have they?”

“…No,” Li Xi nodded. He leaned back slightly, his hand resting on his knee. “It’s okay, though. I can undo the seal at any time.”

Duan Zhen almost immediately understood what he meant.

He could undo it at any time, but he still hadn’t fully regained his memories, which could only mean that he didn’t want to remember those things.

“I’m sorry,” he said.

Li Xi raised an eyebrow in surprise. “Why are you apologizing?”

“I just feel like I should,” Duan Zhen said.

Li Xi squinted at him, carefully examining him. After a moment, he chuckled and stood up, patting Duan Zhen’s shoulder. “You’re an interesting person. No wonder I liked you.”

He got up and slapped Duan Zhen’s shoulder. “You don’t need to apologize to me. Normally, I’m the one who should apologize, but a demon king never apologizes for his actions, so you won’t receive this phrase from me.”

Our Li Xi before his memories got sealed would destroy this Li Xi for how he’s acting with Duan Zhen lol but hey at least we’re seeing him get jealous >//
