“Semblance”
I find myself staring at the ceiling for hours. Most of the neighboring rooms have finally quieted down for the night. I can hear the faint breathing of Devlyn next to me. There are no windows in this room. No moonlight. Darkness engulfs the room completely. I wouldn’t even know for sure Devlyn was next to me if I didn’t hear her. Even after an awkward bath and being in a bed, basically a child’s bed, sleep escapes me. Just out of reach. But I am not surprised. My mind is racing as always. I take a deep breath in and then out. My mental walls crumbling brick by brick…The door wide and swinging…

I scoff and throw every brick back into place and the walls start to climb and I slam the mental door, it raddles my skull. Prick. Pricks the all of them. I am an adult. I can handle anything that comes my way. The duties at the castle. Slaying evil creatures. Governing my powers and keeping them in check. This beast inside. The cold. A mortal vampire man. Everything. I will take it all on and will thrive with a smile on my face. Or at least I will try.
I turn on the bed to face the wall away from Devlyn. I silently scream until all the air escapes my lungs. I shake my head and take a deep breath in, Remain. Then a deep exhale out, Calm…Darkness fills my eyes.
