Chapter one hundred and one: What broke Judd?

Eileen took a quiet walk in the king's garden. There was no one in sight. She could relax and take in a breath of fresh air. A tiny voice in her head went off every step she took but she ignored it. She didn't need a voice in her head to remind her she was where she wasn't supposed to be. She was trespassing.

Eileen clutched the little scroll in her hand tighter like it was a source of comfort. If she closed her eyes and took in a long breath, she would feel herself relax even hear her own heartbeat.

She was a bothered Queen who needed a break from the noisy world.

Eileen looked around and saw the woodwork of perfect designs in form of chairs and tables yet the only place that looked enticing was by a big tree she didn't recognize.

She just wanted to sit on the well trimmed grass and lean against the tree with a good book but she didn't have any book. But it didn't stop her from sitting on the floor.

With her eyes closed, she could hear the sound of the breeze as it caresses her ear. Just as an added bonus, Eileen imagined the clashing of water in a sea.

Breathe in. Breathe out.

She controlled the amount of air she took in and slowed her heart rate until everything around her was in perfect harmony. This was the fastest time; she had achieved the tranquility she always craved. Eileen longed to stay there for a while.

Then she sensed the shadow then felt a hand reach for her. Her eyes flew open instantly, scattering the tranquility in an instant as adrenaline coursed through her veins, jolting her back to the real world.

At first the image was blurry as her eyes adjusted to the light. The shadow towed over her. It blocked the sunlight from her face. And Eileen took an extra second to make out the features.

"Sir Fredrick!" Eileen yelped. Her hand went to steady her chest as she closed her eyes momentarily and let out a breath to calm herself.

"Your majesty, I didn't mean to startle you" Fredrick offered his hand to her but Eileen hesitated. She didn't want to be pull up yet.

Fredrick had a look on his face. A demeanor that showed a little wicked smile that looked like a smirk. It almost made him, creepy.

Eileen hadn't heard him walk into the garden.

She took another breathe and took the hand he offered and allowed herself to be pulled up.

"What are you doing here, Sir Fredrick?" Eileen asked him and took back her hand. She tucked both hands safely inside her gloves.

Fredrick didn't fail to notice her gesture yet his smile never wavered too.

"I saw you walk into the garden and I followed you, Queen Eileen"

"You are not supposed to be here" Eileen's face displayed no emotions just blank except her eyes that contained a glint of distress.

Fredrick shrugged. "Neither are you, your Majesty. The garden is off limits to everyone except the king's immediate family"

Eileen wanted to walk away when she saw the scroll she came in with on the ground beside her. She moved to picked it up but Fredrick beat her to the punch.

He tried to unroll it but Eileen was quick to snatch it out of his bare hands. Fredrick only saw the cancelled name of his cousin, Luther.

"You are right. I am not supposed to be here. I should go" Eileen gave him a weak smile before she walked past him towards the exit of the garden.

"You will regret it, your majesty"

Fredrick voice made Eileen stopped midway. She turned abruptly and stared at the knight.

"Are you threatening me, Sir Fredrick?" Eileen's voice was cold and almost icy. It was a voice she had come to rely on severally on her part to being Queen.

Fredrick wasn't the least affected. He moved closer to the Queen. He still had that creepy smile that didn't quite reach his eyes on his smug face.

"Threaten the Queen of Koi? I haven't quite lost my senses yet, your majesty. I was merely pointing out that choosing my cousin to be your consort wouldn't quite work in your favor" Fredrick looked like he was doing the queen a favor by telling her to stay away from Judd.

"Who said I needed a husband?" Eileen made the mistake of asking him.

The realization dawned on the Knight's face. The fake creepy smile was replaced by a real creepy smile that weirdly touched his eyes.

"You don't want a husband?"

Eileen didn't know she was holding her breath until she exhaled after he uttered the next statement.

"You want an heir" Fredrick tilted his head to the side and looked at the queen from the corner of his eyes "You want a child!"

"Sir Fredrick, may I suggest you don't monger rumors that don't exist. It's pathetic" Eileen denied it but her eyes betrayed her. Fredrick saw through the weak objections to the truth behind.

"No. I am right. You want a child and you have chosen cousin Judd for it. Big mistake, Queen Eileen....it is a big mistake" Frederick's face was devoid of a smile now. It was just intensified and scorching as he directed his gaze to the Queen.

"You should ask me why, Queen Eileen" Fredrick suggested to Eileen. Eileen wanted to ask him but asking would mean admitting he was telling the truth.

Fredrick saw she wasn't forth coming any time soon; he waved his hand into the air before rubbing his chin.

"Okay! I will tell you nevertheless, my queen. Luther is duty bound to be by the king's side...to die for the king and protect him from harm.. He is the king's shadow and you know what, Queen Eileen? Shadows don't leave. He would never choose you over his duty"
