Chapter fifty one: from grace to grass to rumble.

Alexander brushed Blackie with a brush. His horse of choice would have been the Arabian horse but as a commoner he wasn't supposed to afford such luxurious creature and he wanted to keep the horse far away from Janessa since she almost died because she rode him.

So, he went with Blackie. He was an older horse, he had named himself. Blackie was the first horse he got when he became king a few years ago.

He was a Hanoverian horse that was black with no other spot in sight. It made her name obvious. She was good natured, beautiful and a competitive animal. Alexander liked him well enough even though she lacked the cruelty the Arabian horse had.

Blackie knew she was a beauty and she carried herself as such. Alexander kept brushing Blackie until he heard a sound behind him and turned. It was Crown princess Rosemund, his sister and like him, she was there to check on Beauty, her horse.

"Are you sure you want to do this, Rose?" Alexander asked his sister.

"Relax, brother. Fun won't kill you" Rosemund chuckled and open the wooden door and let beauty out.

"Hey, beauty. It's been a while huh?" Rosemund brushed her.

She was a white Hanoverian horse.

"When you look at Blackie and Beauty doesn't it give you hope?" Rosemund asked her brother.

Alexander gave it a thought for a moment.

"No. They are just horses, Rose"

"No. They are miracles walking around. Do you know how rare it is to see twin horses like Blackie and Beauty? Most of twin horses, don't survive birth yet they did? They are amazing. And they are just like us"

Alexander stopped brushing his horse and look at his sister with an amused face, did she just liken the royal household to a family of horses?

"Just like Blackie and Beauty we both lost Mama at a young age. And our Papa died the same day as theirs"

"And just like them we survived against all odds" Alexander decided to play along. But when he thought about it, everything Rose said was through. Blackie and he were kindred spirits.

"We survived Papa" Rosemund murmured sadly. She felt her eyes tear up already.

"Hey. Are you alright?" Alexander asked her.

"Yes. I have been alright for quite some years now" She smiled at him.

Alexander turned just in time to see Jamie enter into the secret stable. She was wearing a red cloak just like the rest of the royal family to hide their peasant outfit until they were out of Aradale.

Alexander could feel his wolf claw at the surface wanting to be let out. Tomorrow was the day Max can run free. Alexander hoped to join the moon pack before he changed into a wolf. It was something he was looking forward to. To have a pack he could run with on a full moon.

"Princess Rosemund, I had no idea you were coming with us on an adventure" Jamie told the princess.

"It's not an adventure; it's more like torture" Alexander replied grouchily.

"Queen Janessa, forgive me grumpy brother. This sounds like fun!" Rosemund momentarily forgot that she hated her sister in law.

"I agree with you, her Royal Highness"

Rosemund bowed to the Queen. Jamie saw the two horses and they were beautiful. She wondered whether the horse she would be given will be a beauty too.

She could feel the tension between Alexander and her. The way he avoided looking at her just long enough to not arouse suspicious from the princess.

"Where is my horse?" Jamie asked no one in particular.

Alexander opened the wooden door and he came out with Millie.

"Hey, old friend" Jamie talked gently at her as she took the brush Rosemund offered to her and started brushing Millie.

Everyone turned when they heard someone grunt severally behind them in displeasure. Rosemund coughed to stop herself from laughing. Alexander simply had an expressionless face. It wasn't kind to laugh at someone in their worst time.

But Jamie didn't get the memo. She laughed out loud while Sir Judd had a scowl on his face. Even when he grunted again, Jamie didn't stop.

"You look ridiculous, Sir Judd!" She proclaimed as another bout of laughter went through her. Rosemund was finding it even more difficult to hold back her laughter too.

Sir Judd was dressed in a pair of old brown boot and pant that was so big he had to use a rope to hold it by the waist. His tunic was too tight for his muscular body and the hat he wore, didn't help matters. He really looked ridiculous.

Sir Judd waited patiently for the Queen to stop laughing but it was going to be a long wait since somehow, the princess couldn't control herself anymore and she joined in.

Rachael walked inside carrying a big basket with the help Ginger. They were tagging along on the adventure since Sir Judd swore them to secrecy.

Rachael was in fear of her head or she would have joined the fun.

"Rachael! Do you have a pair of scissors and some sewing wool?" Jamie asked her.

"Yes, her Majesty"

"Hand them over to me and Ginger, would you follow Sir Judd to c-change into some... something else" Jamie was still trying to make herself stop laughing "Bring the clothes he is wearing to me, immediately"

"Her Majesty?" Judd wanted to know what was going on. Was the Queen planning on fixing his clothes herself? It was unheard of. And odd and the way, the king turned to look at his wife says he wasn't comfortable with the idea either.

The Queen was oblivious of the stares that were exchanged between everyone.

"Don't worry, Sir Judd. I am skilled in the art of garment problem. See, I fix my clothes all the time in Namura"

Sir Judd looked at the Queen and he was horrified. It was one thing to wear ridiculous outfit and another thing to watch the king stunned as his Queen tell everyone about private things like garment.

"Janessa!" Alexander roared.
