Chapter fifty two: from grace to grass to rumble 2.

Jamie turned to face her husband. He looked like he saw a ghost yet she was clueless of her mistake. Proper girls especially Queens weren't supposed to talk about private matter like garment in a stable filled with people.

"What did I do?" Jamie asked him. She was just trying to help.

"If anyone utters what happened in this stable to another soul, the person would find him or herself in need of a head. I hope I was clear" Alexander spoke loudly enough for everyone to hear.

"Yes, his Highness" Everyone was more than willing to obey.

"Ginger!"

"Yes, her Royal Highness"

"Give the item, the tailor gave to you to Sir Judd" Rosemund ordered him.

"Yes, Milady"

Rosemund had predicted a possible problem and she solved it before hand.

"You are kind, Princess Rosemund" Sir Judd bowed to the crown princess in gratitude.

Jamie was puzzled. She had just offered to do exactly the same thing.

"Why do Princess Rosemund get to be kind when I first I offered to mend Sir..."

Alexander didn't think. He simply covered her mouth with his hand.

"Get out everyone! Now!"

Everyone left with a straight face except the princess. She made a hand sign to her brother.

I TOLD YOU SO.

"Janessa!"

"What did I do?"

"Where you dropped on the head as a child?" Alexander still had his hand over her mouth.

Jamie wanted to be free but struggling wasn't a option. King Alexander was stronger than her. She thought of what to do and then she licked his hand.

King Alexander took away his hand from her mouth and he had a disgusted face as he searched for a rag to wipe off his wife's spit.

"But what did I do wrong, his Highness? I was just trying to help!" Jamie went back to brushing her horse.

Alexander moved closer to her. It had just occurred to him that she might not have known what was wrong with offering to mend another man's clothes.

"Monisha, it's considered improper for a lady to mend something as private as a gentleman's garment. That should be one of the first thing to be taught to a young princess at her finishing school, weren't taught that my love?" Alexander asked her.

"I am sure they did but I paid no attention. I probably was thinking of creative ways to pick a lock" Jamie smiled.

Alexander shook his head and went back to brushing his horse.

"Alexander?"

"Hmm"

"What will happen if I never let you put a baby in me? Aradale will expect an heir or the very least heiress to the biggest monarch in Derkal and I just want to go back home to my people. What are you going to do in five years, when I still refuse to be with you?" Jamie hoped he would see reason in her argument.

"I can always remarry when you die, Monisha"

"Excuse me! W-when I die?"

Before Alexander could reply, Rosemund and the rest of the king's adventurous crew walked inside. Sir Judd was now fitted in a tunic and pant that made him look like a demigod.

They started their adventure near noon and they travelled to the next village called Trinity. The royalties in disguise stopped by the market to look around and buy some commodities as was insisted by their Queen.

Jamie was excited as she went from one local shop to another getting items she had no need for. She bought a butterfly hairpin, a horse rope, a dress and some wooden cufflinks.

Alexander kept his distance but was close enough to her incase she needed him.

"How do you keep an eye over the West?" Jamie asked him.

"Each village has councilors and they report to the lords of Aradale and the lords report to me. But once a year, I have to visit each village and see for myself"

"That fan is beautiful!" Jamie declared and left him to have a look.

Jamie was half to the fan shop when she heard some horses galloping towards the market. She didn't think much of it until she saw a little girl running to the other side of the busy market. Jamie would have kept walking except she saw the girl's wool doll fall on the road and the girl stopped running to stare at it.

Everyone was in panic. Shop owners were pushing out customers and closing the shops. Most of the men on the horses were on foot now, destroying shops that was on the scroll they were holding.

"In the name of King Alexander of Aradale and King over the western hemisphere, shop owners that refused to pay the new tax will be punished!" The man in a armour like he was going off to war yelled for anyone to hear.

"We can't afford the king's new tax!" One shop owners screamed.

"How am I supposed to feed my children?" Another asked.

"Have mercy, Councilor!" Most of them pleaded.

"Our great king didn't become the greatest in Derkal by having mercy! Cease them!" The councilor yelled.

Alexander stared at him with a puzzled expression. What the hell was going on? He knew his identity had to remain hidden. He looked around for his family. Rosemund and the servants stood behind sir Judd but Jamie was no where to be found.

Jamie watched as the little girl went back for the doll. Just as she saw the councilor holding a whip as he rode his horse towards the girl. He was going to kill her and Jamie couldn't let that happen. She ran after the girl, she could hear the girl scream.

Jamie was there in time to pick the girl up and run out of the road but it was already too as the horse the councilor was riding was spoked and it almost threw him on the ground but the Councilor was a skilled rider and he was able to get it to be still.

Jamie saw him raise the whip in his hand but she was still holding the little girl she had just saved and unable to defend herself.
