Chapter fifty eight: old friends 2

Jamie walked with Max for minutes then he started running and Jamie followed right behind like she belonged in the wild with him.

Max was filled with joy as he raced with his mate. He couldn't believe that after all this while that he was finally face to face with Jamie. He needed to find somewhere safe for them to nest till morning.

"Max!" Alexander screamed in his mind "Slow down, she is human not a wolf"

"She is Luna. She has to learn"

Max stopped. He just froze on the spot. It was the first time he was able to hear Alexander as a Wolf.

"Wait! Did you...did you hear what I just said Max?" Alexander was surprised. He was aware of himself as a wolf. He was a wolf!

"I can hear you. I can hear you, Alexander!"

Alexander was in sync with his wolf for the first time since he took the cursed crown. He ignored the warning he had given Max before and took off. He felt free in the wild. He had no responsibility whatsoever, except the feel of the wind behind him.

Jamie tried to keep up but she couldn't. She was laughing and panting at the same time. Like Max, she was felt free. There was no husband holding her hostage. There was no sister in law that silently judged her. There was no father that hadn't found her yet and no brother that aided in her kidnapped. There was also no sister that abandoned her.

Jamie's eyes adjusted to the dark easily. She started climbing the tree to catch a glimpse of Max but he was long gone.

"So long, old friend" she muttered and turned around to go back to the castle but she had no idea how far away she was or which part to take. She wasn't paying attention.

Maybe she could camp out in the wood till first light and then find her way home. Jamie knew it was going to be an awkward talk if she was seen walking home in her night dress. But she was out of option. She was almost freezing but she found a spot by the tree to sit.

Max ran with Alexander. It was almost like they were the same being until they weren't. Max couldn't feel Alexander's presence anymore. He had faded out like before.

"Alexander!" He called out but he wasn't there. He was alone again.

With the excitement of running with his human gone Max walked back to find his mate.

He saw Jamie from a distance and suddenly, Alexander was present again.

"What happened?" King Alexander asked.

"We strayed far away from our Queen Luna and we lost our connection. I think she is the reason we were able to connect for the first time, Alexander"

"But how?"

"I don't know. We have to find out, Alexander"

"Let's walk her home, Max. She may be clueless but she is wearing a night dress and she is about to freeze to death"

Jamie opened her eyes when she felt a furry skin run on her leg. It was the wolf. It was weird that she was friends with a wolf.

"You came back. I lost my way"

The wolf walked away slowly and right on clue, Jamie walked behind it. They walked for quite some time until she saw part of the castle. The wolf stopped and so did Jamie.

"Thanks for bringing me home, Max"

The wolf turned and walked back into the forest leaving Jamie standing there.

"Goodbye!"

Jamie sneaked back to her room and for the first time since she got to Aradale she slept like a baby.

When she woke up the next morning, Rachael was already tidying up her chambers and scrubbing the floor as quietly as possible. She must have left mud all over the floor.

"Her Majesty" Rachael stood up immediately.

"Rachael, take away the scented candles also. I don't need them. I want my bathe to be ready in fifteen minutes and send for food also"

"Yes, her Majesty" Rachael was halfway through the door when she stopped "her Majesty?"

"Yes, Rachael"

"His Highness came by earlier on but you were still asleep. He wished to be graced with your presence as soon as possible. Should I lay out an adequate dress for you, Milady?"

"That won't be necessary. I am going right back to sleep after my bathe and breakfast" Jamie muttered.

Rachael wanted to say more but she bowed instead and left. She knew why the Queen was in a bad mood. The king never came to her chambers last night. He was probably with one of his mistresses. Inwardly, Rachael chose the Queen's side.

Jamie knew she had responsibility as Queen of the West. Responsibilities, Alexander had allowed her to overlook. It was time she showed him, she wasn't just a play toy he could come to whenever he felt like it. She was Queen of this hemisphere and she wasn't subjected to the King's rule.

She opened the wardrobe and chose a bright yellow dress that showed no cleavage just like Jamie wanted. Rachael helped her dress and place hair pins to hold her hair in place.

"Rachael?"

"Yes, Milady"

"Who is the Queen's advisor?" Jamie asked her.

Jamie had familiarized herself with the rules and obligation of a Queen but she still needs a Queen's advisor and ladies in waiting to carry out her duties.

She was determined to make a great Queen.

"The last Queen advisor is dead. Milady would have to chose her own" Rachael answered

"To be a Queen's advisor, the applicant must be wise, of noble blood and older, right Rachael?"

"Yes, Milady"

Jamie knew the perfect person.

"I need someone to send a message to Lady Lucinda May; she is now the Queen's advisor by the order of the Queen"

Rachael looked surprised. Jamie had never showed interest about her status. Rachael bowed and left.

Alexander walked until he reached the Queen's Chamber. He simply entered without knocking.

At first Jamie thought it was Rachael then she turned to find Alexander. She stared at him with cold eyes.

"Get lost, his Highness. This Queen doesn't want to see you"
