POV Dirk Goldfields

Dirk Goldfields was a Noble from the Emerald Country.

The Emerald Country was ruled by the Five Noble Houses.

In the past, they were Nobles that were part of the Everlasting Diamond Kingdom.

Before the revolution, the Nobles were corrupt and would do heinous crimes to their own people for their own sick enjoyment. King Jason would ignore the suffering of the people because of bribes the nobles will give him.

The Five Nobles Houses shared the same ideology of treating subjects with dignity and respect.

It was no surprise that their common uprising occurred everywhere else except for the Five Nobles House territory.

Then the uprising turned into a revolution and the Everlasting Diamond Kingdom was dismantled by the Great Fairies.

The Revolutionary created the Ruby Republic.

While the Five Nobles Houses who weren’t part of the war decided they didn’t want a monarch to rule over them and made the Emerald Country.

Dirk speculated that other nobles refrained from following suit because mutual trust was lacking among them.

----

One day before the present day.

Dirk had arrived in the Northern Dukedom.

He heard rumors that Duke Galen had basically kidnapped Jasmine.

That brute Galen. Dirk never liked that jealous and violent man. He would rather Jasmine marry anyone else other than him.

It just so happens he had business in the area. It was not like he was trying to reconnect to his estranged lover Jasmine.

Jasmine, the love of Dirk life. He would think about her constantly. However it was not to be. They were in two different countries. His parents would never even think about allowing him to marry her.

It was like the story of Romeo and Juliet. A forbidden romance.

Dirk entered a sophisticated restaurant and spotted his beloved Jasmine and Duke Galen having a candlelit dinner.

Dirk moved confidently to the table. “What a coincidence, I didn’t expect to run into you my dear lady.”

Duke Galen looked at him frostily.

Jasmine gave a stiff smile, “Hello.”

Dirk instantly knew something was wrong. Jasmine would normally greet him with a warm smile and call him sweetie.

Dirk scanned Jasmine looking for Enslaving Cuffs on her body. He found none.

Duke Galen then spoke. “It is rude to interrupt our dinner. Why don’t you leave us in peace.”

Dirk noticed the food on the table. On Jasmine plate was Spicy chicken and potatoes. Dirk knew that was not something Jasmine liked to eat. Jasmine enjoyed sweets and had low tolerance for spicy food. She would like the natural flavoring of food and not even dare to add any spices.

Dirk then asked, “Jasmine, do you happen to know my name?”

Jasmine responded, “Dimitri?”

Duke Galen seems to smile widely.

Dirk gave a smile and bowed his head. “I hope you enjoy your dinner.”

Dirk left, seething inside his chest.

----

Dirk would need to talk to the other members of the Golden Egg. However, he decided to make a detour and meet someone he had business with.

Currently Dirk was in the warehouse in the Northern Dukedom and meeting Congressman Benjamin.

Dirk ignored the giant flying Eyeball in the warehouse, the huge cyclops in the corner and the numerous Starfishes that was lined up like an army.

Dirk gave a bow, “Greeting Congressman Benjamin.”

Benjamin was fixing his piano and greeted Dirk with a wave. “Hello Goldfields. Are your parents doing well?”

“Father is on another expedition in the Horned Dog Territories. Mother is in good health.” Dirk answered. “I see you brought your warehouse to store your numerous familiars.”

“Your off the mark,” Benjamin pointed to a metal door, “I asked you to buy this warehouse to store those heavy things.”

Dirk counted fourteen metal doors stored in the warehouse.

Dirk inspected the metal door. It didn’t look special. “What's so special about these metal doors?”

Benjamin smiled, “They are called Demon Gates. If you want, you can take them. They are impervious to magic and can't be absorbed by the dungeons. I tried and failed to destroy them.”

The name Demon Gate didn’t sound familiar to Dirk. Still they must be important. Dirk shook his head, “I can’t take these from you, they sound valuable.”

“If only all the Nobles acted as kind as the Emerald Country Nobles,” Benjamin said in regret. “Do you think the Emerald Country will help the Ruby Republic in the coming war with the Sapphire Principality?”

Dirk was silent. “My parents and other Nobles are against it. We are worried about surviving the Demon Invasion that we can’t spare the men in another war.”

“I thought so,” Benjamin said and smiled. “It looks like I will be very busy in the future.”

Dirk looked around the warehouse, “What are you working on?”

“I am doing what I must,” Benjamin said mysteriously. “I do hope you keep something in mind. If the Ruby Republic falls, the Emerald Country is next.”

Dirk smiled, “It shouldn’t be a problem, we still have our forces before the war. We even have two heroes that are quite a boon for our forces.”

Benjamin chuckled, “I doubt the strongest hero in the Northeastern Nation is part of your plan. How is Item Drop doing?”

“That menace is not a hero and is not welcome in the Emerald Country any longer,” Dirk said with a growl recalling the situation and how much they had to pay the Dogtribes not to start war with them.

“What did Item Drop do in Cedarbrook city? The reports aren't clear but a Hellhound was reported to have nearly decimated the city. Somehow Ariel the Godmother of Item Drop had to step in to resolve the issue,” Benjamin asked.

Hellhounds were the evolved form of Brutal Dogs.

They were in the same class of power as Divine Beasts, Fairy Queens, Elder Elves and Dragons.

Through mating with humans, their offspring became individuals known as Dog Tribesmen or Dog Tribeswomen, humans with distinct dog-like traits.

Within the Dog Tribes, multiple Hellhounds took on roles of rulership and guardianship, overseeing and protecting the tribes.

Dirk retold what was written on the report. “Item Drop real name is Tommy. Tommy was approached by a Hellhound who had taken on the guise of a woman, and her human appearance was strikingly beautiful. Agreeing to her marriage proposal, they returned to his hotel and engaged in intimate activities. However, Tommy had no intention of getting married, so after enjoying himself, he left the hotel without waking up his temporary companion. The Hellhound later tracked him down and confronted him. Whatever Tommy said in response nearly led to the city's destruction, with an army of Hellhounds threatening to wage war against the Emerald Country.”

Benjamin didn’t say anything and just kept staring blankly at Dirk.

Dirk nodded in agreement, “I am not making this up.”

Benjamin finally asked, “Did he know the woman was a Hellhound?”

Dirk nodded his head, “Yes, we interrogated him after the affair. He did know the woman was a Hellhound.”

Benjamin sighed deeply, “Would Item Drop be willing to work with the Ruby Republic against the Sapphire Principality.”

Dirk leveled a soul-crushing gaze at Benjamin, conveying a sense of despair that seemed to scare Benjamin. “Sir, I will be honest. That person is not worth the trouble.”

Benjamin believes him.
