Juin disagreed with President Presley, because he felt that if he had family, he would do everything he could to protect them, including getting stronger and stronger. However, knowing that different people had different views, he did not see any reason to argue with President Presley about this issue.

"Then… I just need you to promise me that you will do your best to protect them," Juin said after a moment of thought.

President Presley thought about it for a moment before nodding. "You have my words," he said with a solemn expression. He then looked at Juin and narrowed his eyes before asking, "Anything else?"

Juin met his stare straight on as he replied, "That's all. Is there anything special that I have to do?"

"At the moment," President Presley placed a hand into his pocket and took out another card as he said, "no."

He handed the card to Juin. It was another one of the calling cards.

"As I said, you'll get two of these. One to call upon me, and one for life saving."

Juin looked at the calling card in his hand briefly before putting it into his back pocket. "What do I do now?"

"You have to leave this place," President Presley said, "and come to the headquarters for training. You have a few months' time to learn how to use a weapon, as well as the spells required to keep you alive in certain situations."

"Few months' time?" Juin asked. "Because the Battle is coming…"

President Presley nodded.

"Can't I just go for a few hours a day? Like a school?" Juin asked. He did not like the idea of leaving just like that.

"No, and this is for your own good," President Presley said in a strict tone. "To get you in shape in time, you will have to undergo strict training. You're already behind everyone else, so this is not a negotiable term. Unless you're not interested in the Battle."

"Must I join the Battle?"

"You don't have to…" President Presley said, "It's a voluntary thing, but if you don't join, you can't come for the special training. Do you think the other groups will leave you alone just because you're not joining? I'll tell you the answer. It's negative."

The man stared down at Juin as he said honestly, "A storm has been brewing ever since the disappearance of the book and the sword from the museum. Regardless of whether you are involved in it or if you have taken the items, the other groups will still come at you. I'm sure you'd have known by now the stakes that are involved in this year's Battle of the Underground Beings.

"This is not an Earth human competition. If they can't have you on their teams, they will get rid of you, and they won't just get rid of you by making sure you stay out for a couple of days… They will make sure that you stay out of this world, forever."

"And I'm not scaring you, I'm just telling you the fact," President Presley said with a smile as he pulled the bottom of his suit to straighten it. "Don't think of the supernatural with your human rules. If you have to, think of it as the animal kingdom. Kill or be killed."

He then walked toward the entrance of the living room and stopped right before it. "Ah," President Presley turned around and said, "Luca will tell you once everything is settled. Of course, a contract will be drawn up and you will have to sign it later. In the meantime, I suggest you make preparations and say the necessary goodbyes. I mean, this might be the last time you see them."

Despite it not being spoken out loud, the words "death is a possibility" lingered in the air.

"I can't just leave like that," Juin protested with a frown. I need an excuse."

"In a few days' time, I'll drop by again, and I'll make the preparations to adopt you."

"Adopt?" Juin thought about it before asking, "Is it necessary?"

"It's the easiest way, and it won't raise unnecessary questions later on…" President Presley said, "Of course, you can still come back for a visit whenever you want…"

Juin sighed, but in the end, he nodded. This was the best way to stop the people he cared about from worrying about him. Whatever training President Presley was talking about, Juin was sure that injuries would be involved. It would be a hassle trying to explain things to Mrs. Martin, Wesley, and Max every time he came home with a new injury.

"I… I know what to do," Juin said as he clenched his fists and looked up at the man.

President Presley smiled, and he waved a hand nonchalantly, upon which a portal appeared behind him. "I'll see you at the training zone, Juin," he said before turning around and stepping into the portal.

Juin watched as the portal closed immediately after President Presley walked through, and the room that was lit by the portal became dimmed again, left with only the soft glow of a table lamp by the couch.

"We are in this now, Your Majesty…" Juin mumbled as he stared at where President Presley just disappeared from.

Lucifer floated down until he was standing next to Juin. With a serious expression, he asseverated, "Yes, we are…"

They glanced at each other, knowing that there was no backing out now.

"I still don't trust him…" Lucifer added as he looked at where President Presley was seen last. "And I don't think I will ever trust him…"

"You know what," Juin said, looking at the same spot, "I don't trust him either… And I don't know why. I'm not sure if he's really a vampire, but I don't have a good feeling about him."

He took a deep breath and exhaled before continuing, "But we don't have to trust him. For our safety, we need him now, and we can use him to get stronger."

"But we can use the Nakamura as well… even if they did try to kill you," Lucifer pointed it out.

"The mysterious Mr. Nakamura that can easily take over his son's body is easy to tell…" Juin said in a low voice, "And his actions, even if we can't foresee it now, will be predictable after we spent some time with him. For people like him, even if we are not in the same group, it is still possible to get things out of him, if we want to...

"I don't know about the Dark Night Clan yet since they haven't appeared in front of us… But President Presley… Truth be told, so far, he's not the only person I can't trust, but he's one of those whom I can't tell what he really wants from me… And I don't really like that."

If President Presley was a vampire, and if he really was one from Lucifer's world, then why was he the president of a group that was full of humans? If he was really in it for the good of the supernatural beings in this world, then… why did he keep his supernatural self from most of the members of the Order? Shouldn't he be more open about his identity? After all, it was a supernatural group he was heading, so there should be no worries about him being a vampire.

Furthermore… Why did he fight with Warlock? What was the fight about?

Juin could tell that Warlock was hiding some things from him, but his intuition told him that Warlock wasn't trying to hurt him. If Warlock had bad intentions, he would have taken actions three years ago, when Juin was completely defenseless and dumb as a rock.

But President Presley was different. And that smile of his often made Juin uncomfortable, like he was about to be fully devoured by the darkness.

---

Upon hearing Juin's explanation, Lucifer turned to look at Juin. After a while, he asked with a brow raised, "Are you trying to keep your enemy close?"

He was talking about the strategy of "keep your friends close and your enemies closer", which they read about in a book titled "Art of War" in the last few days.

Juin grinned slightly. "Yeah… If Presley is a friend who really wants the best for us, then that's great, we can get a lot of benefits from him then. But if he's not and is actually scheming something that might hurt us, it's better if we pretend not to know anything and wait for him to reveal his cards. And meanwhile, we can make new… alliance, both in and out of the groups."

Truth be told, Juin had been having some weird feelings about the man right from the start. And the fact that President Presley really wanted Juin to join the Order, despite the ridiculous demands that Juin made earlier, made Juin even more suspicious of his intentions.

It could not just be something as direct as wanting someone to join the Battle. After all, Juin was sure that there were plenty of people in the Order that was more qualified than him. Why the need of wasting resources to train a complete supernatural noob?

Juin sighed. "If only we know more people…"

He stretched his body and said to Lucifer, "Oh well… I think we will get to know more supernatural humans soon… Maybe we can learn more things then… But now, I'm pretty tired, so I'm going to go to bed…"

He deactivated the ward. As he walked up the stairs to the room, he mumbled while holding the talisman that he used earlier, which was useless now, "I need to get better talisman. I can't be carrying chunks of woods with me everywhere…"

Meanwhile, Lucifer was standing at the bottom of the stairs, looking at Juin's back with a complicated expression as he thought, "He's… different. Is this a change or the real him?"
