"Well, I don't know what you're talking about, but I am sure that I'm still a human," Juin said with a serious expression. Technically, his body belonged to a human. It was just that his soul was not.

Still smiling, Welshon said, "I think you know what I mean…"

His smile was unnerving, and it reminded Juin of President Presley. It was the smile of people who wanted something from him.

"What do you want from me?" Juin sighed, knowing that there was no way he could escape this.

"I wanted to invite you to join us," said Welshon with a regrettable expression, "but it seems like I was too late. I just received the intelligence that you have decided to join the Order. It's really a disheartening news to receive, you know."

"You should have acted earlier, but oh well… You know how this works, so I can't just simply leave the Order now…" Juin said nonchalantly, waving his dagger around as he made a point.

Welshon shook his head. "Well, you shouldn't, but of course you can. My boss ordered me to kill you, but I have the power to make my own decision, so I'll make one now. Join us, and we will give you protection from the Order. They might be bigger in numbers, but we are stronger. How about that?"

Like most members of the Dark Night Clan, Welshon was not a fan of the humans, but he was someone who respected strength and powers.

However, those in his group weren't as open as him, and they immediately looked at Welshon when they heard his words. In the worlds where they came from, the humans were the weakest among all races, and in some worlds, humans were basically livestock.

The fact that they had to stay hidden in the dark in this world that was full of humans was already humiliating enough, and now, they had to be in a group with a human? That was unacceptable!

"What if I don't want to?" Juin asked with a frown.

Looking at Juin, Welshon could only sigh heavily in his heart, clearly regretting not being able to get him to join the Dark Night Clan earlier.

Honestly, ever since he heard of Juin, he had been sending his men to get close to Juin and find a way to talk or persuade him into joining the Dark Night Clan, but unfortunately, all his men always ended up dead.

And up until now, they still had not found the perpetrator who killed them. Welshon had a feeling that someone from the Order or the Nakamura family had been sending the killers in an attempt to stop the Dark Night Clan from approaching Juin.

With the Battle looming and the stakes involved, it was not weird for even so-called righteous groups to play dirty in order to get an advantage over the others. One of their usual tricks was to prevent others from getting their hands on talented potential candidates who had not pledged to any group.

Even though Welshon did not do anything to accuse them in open, he retaliated by killing some of the Nakamura people and the weaker members of the Order as a warning, thinking that it would stop them from their attempts in stopping the Dark Night Clan's recruitment process.

But when his people, whom he sent to monitor Juin's movements after the latter was sent to the hospital, were killed brutally on the first day, leaving only clothes behind, he decided to come over by himself, and if it really were the act of the other groups, he would get rid of them himself.

Standing from miles away, he watched the hospital for days. During those times, he could see the Nakamura people, as well as those from the Order, watching the hospital closely from various points.

And he also saw how those people were knocked out, one by one, when they moved close to the hospital when there were barely any humans around. Yet despite his good eyesight, he could not catch the perpetrator clearly, only that it did not look like a human since it was walking on all four.

And day after day, lesser and lesser people were sent from the Nakamura family and the Order.

One night, determined to find out the truth of the matter, Welshon sent a few of the lower-ranked members from the Dark Night Clan and gave them the instructions to kill Juin before he was convinced by the other groups.

He did not have any expectations that they would succeed, and to him, they were only cannon fodder whose lives were for him to use in finding out the truth.

And like usual, he watched everything from afar, cloaking his presence and scent.

When the night fell and most people were asleep, his men started to move closer to the hospital.

And then, the thing that had been knocking out the members of the other groups came out. It moved so fast that Welshon almost couldn't see it. It was some sort of black four-legged animal. It completely blended in with the darkness, appearing and disappearing, and if it not for the blood of the Dark Night Clan members on it, Welshon might not even see it.

He wanted to jump in and attack, but when he felt the aura of a mighty presence approaching, he immediately escaped from the scene.

And after he reported everything to the king of the Dark Night Clan, the king decided everything was getting too out of hand and ordered him to just get rid of Juin to avoid future complications.

Especially since they received the news that Juin appeared to have defeated Taka Nakamura, the heir and future leader of the Nakamura Family. Having known that Juin had agreed to join the Order, it seemed that the Nakamura Family deliberately sent out the news of Juin's strength, hoping to borrow the powers of the other groups to get rid of him.

Of course, Welshon and the king could clearly see through the Nakamura Family's plot.

However, after a discussion, they realized that the reason why the patriarch of the Nakamura Family would release such a piece of embarrassing news was that the old man felt threatened by the existence of Juin.

And as such, they should feel threatened as well.
