Princess Cecile looked at her younger cousin, who was charging toward her unstoppably. Using her trident, she tried to stand up, but no matter how she yelled at herself inwardly to stand up, she could not find the strength to do so. She was only on one knee now, but she felt that she barely had the energy left to remain even on one.

With "Tidal Blast", her soul power had been completely depleted. This was the first time she used it in a battle, having only recently learned it from a secret diary that her father hid in her room many, many years ago.

It was a treasure-seeking game that she had totally forgotten about.

A servant girl found it while cleaning up Princess Cecile's old playroom, which had been kept locked after since her parents' death because she was unable to go in without getting upset, especially when she saw the toys and items that her parents made for her and Tomas. All the memories were too painful for her to bear.

And the only reason why she wanted it clean this time was that she recently made a huge decision; one of life and death.

Since the diary had been warded and its content could only be seen by the intended party, the servant girl could only see it as a normal diary. But when she gave it to Princess Cecile, the latter could clearly sense her father's signature.

Once she found a quiet, remote place within the palace, she opened the diary, only to find out that it was a journey diary of King Adam from when he was still a prince. Inside the diary, it mentioned some of the spells that King Adam created during his voyages, and one of them was his signature move, the Tidal Blast, which he had never taught to anyone else.

It was something that he wanted to keep it for his heir… And with the diary, she knew that even though she would never be the queen, in her father's heart, she was always the heir to his kingdom.

Unfortunately for Princess Cecile, being young, even if she could learn the spell, her soul power reserve was still small. Just calling a small Tidal Blast was enough to deplete all of her soul power reserve, as well as her stamina. Her fingers were trembling as she struggled to even hold onto the trident.

"NO!!!" a young voice could be heard coming from far away. "Princess Cecile!!!"

"I'm sorry… I couldn't protect any of you…" she thought to herself as tears welled up in her eyes.

She could feel her bangs being lifted up by the "wind", and at that moment, all the spectators saw the raindrop marking that was on her forehead flickered in red.

KERPLANG!

The water around her was moving, but nothing was happening. No pain. No snicker. No scent of blood.

"Are you alright?" a familiar soft voice asked after a few seconds of silence.

Opening her eyes, she saw the man, the one who blocked her attack earlier. With his back facing her, he glanced back and asked again, "Cecile, please tell me, can you stand?"

"Renaud…" she mumbled in a sigh. Looking at the branch-like markings on the back of his neck, which were bright red at the moment, she asked in a soft voice, "Why are you interfering in our battle?"

"Renaud! You're my brother! Why do you keep insisting on protecting her?!" First Princess Iris snapped angrily as she tried to push her sword forward. The markings that were at the side of her neck lit up in crimson red as she tried to conjure another spell.

However, Crown Prince Renaud was holding off his sister's attack using his spear, and the fact that he only needed to hold his spear in one hand clearly shown the spectators that he was, despite his gentle nature, stronger than he looked.

"Enough!" he roared before pushing his sister back a few meters, creating a shield in between them to stop her from coming closer.

"Renaud!" First Princess Iris yelled in frustration. "Why do you insist on helping that weakling?! She's the one who attacked me first!"

She pointed at her cheek, which had a slightly red mark on it, and said, "She slapped me! The servants all saw it!"

"I'm sure you deserved it…" Renaud said as he glared at his younger sister. He knew Cecile and her sister well enough to know who was more likely to be the provocateur. With a much gentle gaze, he then turned to look at his cousin. "Cecile…"

"You are always such a busybody…" Cecile mumbled before finally falling on both knees.

However, Renaud caught her before she completely hit the ground.

"You are always so reckless. Iris has defeated you so many times, why do you insist on bothering her?" Renaud asked with a sigh. He carried Cecile up and looked around. That was when he saw a half-n.a.k.e.d young servant boy standing outside the dome, who was being held by guards.

The boy was crying his eyes out as he struggled against the guards. One of the guards had even placed his hand over the boy's mouth to stop him from making any further noises.

"Remove the protection ward!" he ordered as he glared at the guards, and in a split second, the protective dome disappeared. "Let the boy go!"

The guards nodded and immediately released the young servant boy, who then limped over with tears all over his dirty face. He was young, probably about six to seven years old, and had three huge lightning bolt-like markings on his body; one on each arm, from shoulder to the elbow, and one on the middle of his c.h.e.s.t, starting from his collarbones to his navel.

And all his markings were glowing in violet as he ran toward the royals.

Along the way, he fell a couple of times, but he always stood up again while keeping his eyes on the woman on Renaud's arms. "Princess Cecile…" he cried as he reached out with both hands.

But before he could reach her, he was lifted into midair by someone, and he found it hard to breath… Almost like someone had tightened their fingers around his neck.

"Urgh… Help…" the boy g.r.o.a.n.e.d as he scratched around his neck. His eyes then landed on the one responsible for this, and despite his young age, a killing instinct was exuded by him.

Seeing the sight before him, Renaud immediately turned around and saw that it was his sister's job. "Iris!"

"This boy pissed me off earlier. As a lowborn, he caused the country's two princesses to fight with each other. Just that crime alone is punishable by death!" Iris sneered. If she could not hurt Cecile, then she wanted to hurt the person Cecile wanted to protect the most.

Her sword glowed in blue, while the markings on the side of her neck glowed in red, as she raised it.

"No, Iris!!!" Renaud yelled out. His sister moved too fast!
