About an hour later, the little boy, whose name they found out was Arthur, was still fast asleep after the doctor gave him some general anesthetic while she operated on his broken leg.

"The boy has multiple old and new injuries on his body, but other than the broken bone, he's fine… With enough rest, his leg would be as good as new," Doctor Adelie said when she came out of the operating theatre with her mask on.

Taking off her mask, she sighed and said, "Looking at Arthur, I could not help but think about his older brother… That kid used to come in with a lot of injuries too…"

"He has an older brother? Should we notify him?" Juin asked, standing up from his seat.

The doctor looked at him with a wry expression as she said, "Not unless you can talk to the dead…"

Hearing that, Juin narrowed his eyes, and after a few seconds of silence, he asked, "How about his other family members?"

"I think his parents passed away not long after he was born, and he was taken care of by his brother…" Doctor Adelie said. "Sadly, Mathis was killed during the rebellion two years ago…"

When he heard that name, Tucker, who was seated on the bench outside the room, looked up from his groin and frowned. "Mathis… That kid was under Cecile… Isn't Cecile's best friend's Mathis?"

"You mean was…" Doctor Adelie said with a sigh. "Two years ago, Mathis led a group of peasants and lowborn in a rebellion against King Frederic who had just us—"

There was a split second of silence before she continued with a pair of sad eyes, "—taken the throne. That was silly of them… How could a bunch of weaklings like them win against King Frederic?"

"Adelie, what happened? By right, Cecile should be ahead of Frederic when it comes to the succession of the throne. Why is she removed?" Tucker asked with a serious expression.

Adelie stared at him for a few seconds before he asked, "Have you forgotten who her birth mother was?"

Princess Cecile was the daughter of King Adam and his first wife, Queen Valerie, who died at childbirth.

"Valerie…" Tucker was about to say something when he recalled the Queen's surname. "Honduras…"

"Honduras?" Juin looked at him with a curious expression. "Is that supposed to mean something?"

"Honduras is Atlas' surname…" Tucker explained. "When Atlas closed all but one of the portals that were connecting Earth to Atlantis, he caused a lot of resentment and anger. People hated him for closing their path for expansion, but since he was on the other side, they naturally could not do anything to him… But they could hurt his family, immediate and extended, here…"

"Oh… Damn…"

"Yeah… Damn…" Tucker shook his head. "When one act without thinking, that's what's going to happen to his or her friends and family."

While saying so, Tucker stared at Juin with narrowed eyes. "Do you understand that?"

Juin blinked, wondering why he was targeting him, but he still nodded. "Yes, Mr. Tucker…"

"The Honduras Clan was a huge royal family few hundreds years ago. They were, in fact, the strongest family in this world… But what Atlas did was considered the ultimate betrayal, and his entire family was condemned by everyone in Atlantis. The major powers took this as an opportunity to overthrow the Honduras and end their reign. Saved for those who managed to escape from the palace in time, everyone else was killed. Including the then 8-year-old king of the now-gone Acronis.

"The lands of Acronis were seized and split evenly to be distributed among the other 4 royal families of Atlantis. And the people who did not leave Acronis on time were all made into slaves…

"Remember what I told you about the rankings of these Atlanteans were based on the color of the glow of their markings?"

Both Juin and Cyrus nodded quickly.

"The citizens of Acronis, unlike the rest of the Atlanteans, preferred to live closer to the sun. And their lands were mostly situated around the Purple Flower Mountain, a mountain that was filled with purple flowers with a sweet honey-like taste. Because they ate it so often, over the years, the glow of their markings changed from other colors to violet."

Juin and Cyrus exchanged glances. Then, Juin said, "Arthur's glow is… violet."

Tucker nodded. "He's a descendent of Acronis."

"But Princess Cecile…"

"She inherited her father's power… Her mother's, on the other hand, was purple. Not only that, her mother wasn't just a normal citizen of Acronis but a direct descendant of Atlas," Tucker explained as memories struck his mind. He then told Juin the history of Princess Cecile's parents as well as their stories.

And over the years, the king tried to change people's opinions of the descendants of those from Acronis in his own way, either through law or through rewards, and he succeeded. Of course, he could not change too much of the status quo without causing a rebellion, but he did what he could. Giving these people job opportunities. They might not be able to be knights or leaders, but they could earn and keep the money to themselves.

King Adam hoped that with enough time, he would be able to completely remove people's prejudice

For the longest time, those with purple markings, as long as they were within the borders of Terre D'eau, they were considered as free citizens and were given the same rights and privileges as those with indigo-colored glow.

"In just 15 years…" Tucker clenched his fists before slowly unclenching them. "In just 15 years, his work was completely destroyed."

"Frederic is also a charming man, and as the spare to the heir, he received the same training and education as King Adam. Naturally, he could equally as charming and persuasive as his older brother if he wanted to. Besides," Doctor Adelie leaned against the wall and said, "it's always easier to corrupt someone than to turn them into a good person."

Tucker nodded to express his agreement to her words. "But you haven't answered my question."

"When Cecile was about to take the throne, at that time, some of the nobles, who—" she scoffed and rolled her eyes, "—somehow gained a lot of wealth since then, stood up to denounce her, through the fact that she's related to Atlas Honduras, and it got worse as the coronation date got closer… to the points that the citizens were rioting and fighting among each other because of some evil people's instigation.

"Those who believed in King Adam refused to fall back into the old days where they would treat someone badly just because of the color of their glow… And those who were more traditional wanted the old laws to be brought back and for the status quo to be strictly enforced.

"Because of the internal fights, the country's economy was badly affected, and at that time, the other three major royal families threatened to destroy the country like how they destroyed Acronis if someone with the Honduras' bloodline was to succeed the throne.

"In the end, Cecile made a declaration that she would never take the throne." Doctor Adelie seemed angry when she thought about the riots two to three years ago. Princess Cecile had lost her dearest baby brother, her father, and her beloved stepmother all in the span of 5 years…

And those people took this chance to attack this poor, grieving princess, causing her to make the wrong decision just so that she could stop dealing with them. "She should have never given up fighting for the throne… If she had fought for it, if she would have been a great queen one day; one that would surpass all her father's accomplishments."

She then glanced at the door to the operating theatre where Arthur was still sleeping. "And she would have been able to protect all of them."
