As Juin followed behind Renaud while they made their way through the halls of the dimly lit prison, he could not help but wonder what Renaud was feeling at the moment. When he saw glimpses of Renaud at the brothel as he dragged Cecile out, the man had a completely furious expression.

"Was that really because he was worried Cecile would damage the royal family's reputation?" Juin thought as he continued to walk quietly.

Suddenly, he looked up and noticed something was wrong.

Inside the prison, the air was… normal. As in above-land normal.

"You finally noticed?" Renaud asked when Juin suddenly stopped walking. "We Atlanteans get our strength from the water, and prisoners, regardless of whether they are innocent or not, will be devoided of water for a long period of time. This would weaken them, making it harder for them to escape, especially since they would be unable to conjure water without exerting more soul power."

Juin nodded as Renaud explained. He then continued to walk behind Renaud as he asked, "Is that why you are here? To check on Princess Cecile's wellbeing?"

"I'm not worried that Cecile would be overly weakened by this place," Renaud said in a warm voice. "Her bloodline will ensure that."

There seemed to be a hint of relief in his tone.

Juin raised an eyebrow curiously, and after some thinking, he asked, "Is it because she's Atlas' descendent?"

He then stopped in his track again when Renaud shot him a death glare.

"Do not talk about that name here!" Renaud warned in a low voice that was as equally cold as his expression right now.

At that moment, Juin felt a chill running down his spine. He had never seen Renaud speak in such a tone before. Granted, he barely talked to the guy, but even so, from what he had heard, Renaud was usually a gentle person.

He quickly nodded. "In this prison, he could kill me and the guards, and no one else would know," Juin thought to himself as he quickly walked behind Renaud.

When they got to the prison cell where Princess Cecile was kept, Renaud quickly dismissed the two guards who were watching over her. Once they left, Renaud put his hand out and a blue diagram quickly appeared on his palm.

Juin felt a ripple of wind hitting him before everything quieted down saved for the sound of them moving within the cell.

The cell was almost empty, yet it did not look as uncomfortable as what Juin thought. The bed had a mattress on. While it was not as comfortable as the ones he had seen so far, at least it was clean and seemed to be new.

The brown walls and ceiling were completely devoid of any kind of drawings or carvings, which Juin had noticed on almost every wall and ceiling in this world. Inside the prison cell, other than the bed, the other furniture was the small table and two chairs at a corner of the room.

"What are you doing here?" Princess Cecile asked as she looked at Renaud with a cold glance. "To gloat?"

"Why would you say that?" Renaud sighed. He then looked at the untouched food on the table and asked, "You didn't eat any of your meals today?"

"Eat?" Cecile scoffed. "No, thank you. I'm on a fast. I believe the commoners call it intermittent fasting."

"Cecile…" Renaud reached forward to touch her arm, but he held himself back when he saw the look of disgust in her eyes.

"Renaud!" Cecile snapped. "What do you want me to do? Your father locked me here without so much of an investigation, and you know how cruel he could be!"

"He didn't kill your family…" Renaud said with little conviction. The deaths of three royals, one after the other, were indeed worthy of suspicion, and the fact that his father managed to rally the people to overthrow Cecile so quickly…

"I…" Renaud's fists bunched up next to his waist as he looked away from his cousin's scorching eyes.

"You know clearly what kind of man your father is, Renaud," Cecile said coldly. "Those meals that my brother had been taking before his meals… The cooks, the servants…"

Tears filled her eyes as she poked him in the c.h.e.s.t with a finger angrily, "They were all hired by your father! He got rid of all our trusted servants and replaced them with his! He took advantage of our vulnerable moments and used it against us. And now, he's coming after me; someone who no longer has the power to fight back!"

"No… Father won't… He won't hurt you…"

Slap!

Juin's eyes widened slightly as he watched the drama unfold before him.

Crown Prince Renaud's right cheek had a red handprint on it, and his face had turned slightly to the side.

"Did you know that he was going after Tomas?" Cecile's face had a look of disbelief as she stared at her older cousin; the only one left in her family that she could somewhat trust. Tears were falling down her cheeks as she looked at him.

"N-No…" Renaud was stunted. "How could you think that? And we don't know if my father--"

Cecile then interrupted him by asking angrily. "Did you tell yourself that he wouldn't do that? That he wouldn't hurt his young nephew for the throne?! Wake up, Renaud! Your father had been coveting the throne for years! Why do you think that our grandfather and my father had never granted him the position of General D'eau?!"

General D'eau was one of the most important positions in the kingdom of Terre D'eau. Whoever had the title would be able to command the strongest army in the kingdom; an army that consisted of the most loyal and non-questioning soldiers.

Normally, this position would be given to the spare heir, but for some reason, Cecile and Renaud's paternal grandfather had never even thought of appointing King Frederic as General D'eau. Neither did her father.

Instead, King Adam skipped past his younger brother and put his expectations on Renaud. This made it clear that he had high hopes in Renaud, and had it not been the birth of Tomas, Renaud would have been appointed General D'eau the moment he reached a.d.u.l.thood.

Cecile slowly turned around. Glaring at the food that she suspected to have been poisoned by a slow-acting poison, she then said in a low voice, "Not everyone is as blind as you…"

Renaud's eyes were red and conflicted. He had a lot of suspicions, but no matter what, that man was his father. No matter what King Frederic did, his love for his children was real. And without real, solid proof, Renaud could not find it in him to accuse his father of committing regicide.

"I will personally attend to your meals," Renaud mumbled with much difficulty after a long silence. He then turned around and looked at Juin. "You have 10 minutes."

Juin blinked, and he quickly nodded.

The Crown Prince then leaned forward and whispered, "If you touch her… I'll make sure that you will never use that thing between your t.h.i.g.hs ever again."

Alarmed, Juin raised his eyebrows in shock, but he quickly nodded again.

With a heavy heart and a conflicted mind, Renaud then glanced at Cecile for one last time before leaving the prison cell.
