I was curious, Is it possible to make money from trade with Schway? I heard Schway doesn’t have much resources to trade with. I wondered if this novel was really accurate.

“You don’t know anything about Cyrus? I heard that Aaron and Ethan Duplo are the only ones close to the Princess right now,” I said.

Penelope thought for a moment. “Cyrus wasn’t someone who spent a lot of time at the palace or with the Princess. Perhaps that’s why he wasn’t as well-known. He would come and go, and it seemed like the author didn’t focus on him much. It’s probably easier to keep track of Aaron and Ethan. They were the main characters after all.” Penelope furrowed her brow.

“It’s strange to think about them like this, since they’re real people now. As a sister, I really hope Ethan becomes the same as he was in the novel. The Ethan in the book was very wise and could see two or three steps ahead. He wasn’t as devoted as Aaron, but you need someone like Ethan to plan for the future. Like Zhuge Liang from Romance of the Three Kingdoms.”

I couldn’t believe she was referencing Zhuge Liang from Romance of the Three Kingdoms. I knew who he was from my previous life, but it was strange to think about it now.

“Cyrus’ presence in the story was pretty weak for a main character. It didn’t seem like he had much interest in Eleanor, which is why he didn’t have many fans. He wasn’t mentioned much either. He was a noble bastard and became successful as a merchant? I can’t think of anything else.”

“Do you remember anything else?”

I recall some details about my death, but it wasn’t clear until Leon explained it to me. Honestly, I still have difficulty remembering all the details. I trust that Leon is telling the truth, but my memories are hazy. All I can remember is being stabbed in an alley.

Penelope’s expression seemed to indicate that she was experiencing similar memory issues.

“I don’t know. I didn’t think about it much. How well do you remember the story? Do you remember everything that happened in the book?”

“The first part alone was 200 episodes, so I might not remember everything. I remember the main plot, but not all the details.” Penelope put her hand on her forehead and frowned. Then she shook her head.

“I don’t know. I might not remember everything. I can’t say for sure.”

“That’s okay. I was just curious. It’s good to know that I’m not the only one with gaps in my memory.” Penelope looked relieved.

“I see. Do you think we’ll remember more as time goes on?”

“I don’t know about that. There are things I remember but things I don’t.”

Penelope nodded.

“Anyway, the most important thing  is that we don’t die. We must find a safe place to hide. We can’t die, even if this is a novel and I am a minor character. I have a husband and a child to think about.”

Penelope mumbled a few more reasons why she can’t die, but I couldn’t hear them clearly.

I was thinking. Good, let’s assume that this is a novel. But the story has changed. Since I didn’t die, right? That means that the future can change.

I think I should inform Leon of this important fact; that we need to solve the murder case and understand why the Princess considers him as an enemy. Although, that part might be unsolvable. Who would believe that he isn’t a villain, even if he said it personally?

The thought of him being a villain is terrifying.

I organized a plan in my head as I kept nodding to Penelope, who continued to suggest potential hideouts.

***

There were few people on the street. Those present were all armed guards or knights. The small number of nobles were also walking around, accompanied by guards. As if that would protect them.

Of course, he also had guards. Two of them. There were many who had two guards around them, but from his perspective, it was a waste of money. What was the reason for having two guards? It wasn’t like thieves were going to randomly show up in Theresa division. Even if they did, two guards were just in the way.

Well, that was his thought, but the nobles didn’t think that way. To them, more soldiers meant more authority. He knew very well that this was useless.

No, it wasn’t useless. It was useful in different ways. He smiled for a moment. Nobles’ personal soldiers would be useful in the future in many ways. Even though they wouldn’t be useful for personal protection, they would be important during a riot.

It was essential that the nobles and their personal soldiers become rowdy. That’s how things would escalate.
