Just as Lady Melissa was about to explain herself and the matters she had to deal with that she had to go to call the Trafford estate, she could hear shuffling in the telephone as if someone was trying to get it.

"Hello?"

Duke Mason asked, his secretary Jason had picked up his telephone earlier, as he was doing some paperwork.

Duke Mason had told multiple times to his secretary Jason not to bombard people with his questions but he kept unintentionally doing so, and Duke Mason would sometimes answer the phone so his friends or business partners wouldn't have to deal with Jason.

"Hello?"

Lady Melissa replied back, wondering who it was now that had the telephone as the voice was different from the man earlier and was much deeper as well.

"Oh, so you've decided to contact me? I had wondered when you were going to contact me to discuss the incidents."

Duke Mason said, keeping his tone down as he didn't want the whole estate to hear what he was saying.

Luckily for him he didn't have to whisper that much as Jason had already left the room, probably to attend to his duties as secretary.

"My sincerest apologies for that matter, are you perhaps free today? I would like to meet up with you somewhere if possible to explain the incident that happened yesterday."

Lady Melissa asked, hoping that Duke Mason was free today as she wanted to get this done as soon as possible.

"Well hmm my schedule is a bit packed today but I'll make some special adjustments for the beautiful lady."

Duke Mason said, as Lady Melissa could imagine him giving her a flirtatious wink from the other side of the telephone.

"Alright so….10 AM your place? Or do you want to go somewhere else to meet up? I'm alright if you want to go somewhere else."

Lady Melissa asked, she was alright with whenever or wherever he was going to be free as long as it of course wasn't too late.

"Wow, a revenderous indeed huh? I believe I shall be free at 10 AM for you Lady Melissa, and just poof up to my place or I could send you a carriage to come to my place."

"As much as I appreciate the offer Duke Mason, I believe it would tarnish our reputations, well more like mine. You don't have much of one in the first place."

Lady Melissa sarcastically said, letting out a small smile, this had been the first time she was genuinely smiling after Baron Kevin's death.

"Alright, but how will you poof yourself here? I can send someone to your estate to fetch you for me if you want to."

Duke Mason said, insisting to somehow help Lady Melissa as he was afraid she might get lost going to his place.

"Hmm I mean I don't want to annoy you-, or inconvenience you in any way, but if you don't mind then sure."

Lady Melissa said, not wanting to inconvenience Duke Mason or burden him in any way as she knew he had more important matters to deal with.

"Alright then, I'll send someone to pick you up, can't wait to see you later, darling."

Duke Mason said, before hanging up on the phone call leaving Lady Melissa a blushing mess, trying to calm her beating heart down.

'Get your head out of the gutter Melissa, you have far more important things to deal with than love.'

Lady Melissa thought, reminding herself of the reason why she had even called Duke Mason in the first place.

'Duke Mason's probably going to send someone to fetch me and I guess they're going to appear out of the blue? Or do I have to call their name?'

Lady Melissa thought, confused, it wasn't like they would just walk in through the front door and kidnap her right?

Well hopefully not, she didn't want to deal with any shenanigans so early in the morning. Well technically it wasn't that early, but Lady Melissa got no sleep.

She had an hour or two more to spend before she would have to go to the Trafford estate, curious on how the house looked.

As not a lot of people had often been invited to the Trafford estate's gatherings and events, it was a limited group of people.

Although Duke Mason was very influential and had a lot of connections he was very wary when choosing people whom he could trust.

Hence Lady Melissa was a little surprised when Duke Mason was alright with her going to his place.

After all, not a lot of nobles even knew where it was located, and the ones who had been to his house before never talked about it.

They knew how to keep their mouths shut.

Lady Melissa thought of some activities she could do while waiting to go to Duke Mason's estate like maybe she could practice her swordsmanship skills.

Or she could do some paperwork that was long overdue after she kept procrastinating and daydreaming.

Lady Melissa, not knowing what to do, took a coin that was on her desk, flipping it as she waited for the coin to reveal its answer; she chose heads to practice her swordsmanship skills, and tails to do her paperwork.

She had to do the paperwork as her parents were gone and she couldn't just leave everything to the butler, she needed to take care of some of the paperwork on her own as well, and she could never be too safe; so she decided to do some of the confidential paperwork by herself and the ones that weren't so important she would ask the butler to do it if he was free.

She had put the coin on her hand, covering it up with her fingers, as she slowly opened it, and lo and behold it was tails.

Which was very unfortunate for Lady Melissa but she couldn't keep procrastinating on the paperwork no matter how busy and tired she was.

It was her duty, as the daughter of the Shayla estate, she had to be able to do both paperwork and feminine activities since she didn't have any male siblings, or any siblings at all for that matter.
