Lady Melissa wished she had a sibling, or at least someone who would give her comfort and reassurance but did she even deserve it?

After everything that she had done, did she even deserve to have such a privileged life? She knew very well the answer was no.

The fact that she knew that it was no had simply made everything harder for her, the fact that she had the power to at least try and do something while her friend died right in front of her.

Lady Melissa let out a sigh, not wanting to think over the subject anymore as she did not want to think about Baron Mason's death.

Lady Melissa started to do her paperwork, flipping through the pages of the paper every few minutes to see how many pages remaining she had to do.

After what had seemed like centuries to Lady Melissa she had finally finished all of her work, thankfully.

When in reality only thirty minutes had passed, she could do many great things in a small period of time if she just really concentrated.

Though most of the time when she was doing the paperwork she was preoccupied, many thoughts filling her head.

Yet for some reason today she wasn't preoccupied, she had managed to fish all of the paperwork she had been procrastinating on.

Maybe the coffee that she had drank earlier in the morning was starting to have an effect on her as it was proven that coffee made people more alert.

Maybe she'll add coffee to her list of what she needs to eat or drink everyday to survive the rest of the day.

She had also read that coffee reduces risks of cancers and strokes, though she wasn't sure about that one as it sounded a little sketchy.

As Lady Melissa was leaning back into her chair, yawning a bit as she stretched her hands she noticed a presence.

Immediately she fixed her position, looked outside the window and lo and behold there was a masked man in a dark outfit, covering both his face and body completely, even his hands had gloves.

Maybe not his face completely though as she could see his eyes, and hair, though other than that everything else was covered.

"Who are you?"

Lady Melissa asked, secretly grabbing a dagger from one of her desks as she hid it behind her back, waiting for the man to reply.

The man instead said nothing, simply staying still as he stared daggers into her eyes, his eyes seemingly unblinking.

Lady Melissa walked closed and closer to the window, repeating her question one more time as she opened the window.

Immediately Lady Melissa took out the dagger that she had hid, immediately throwing it to the man.

The man had flinched a bit, not expecting Lady Melissa to throw a dagger at him. Though he quickly regained his composure, dodging the dagger.

"I was hoping that would at least scratch you, how about let's try another one?"

Lady Melissa asked, her tone sounding playful as she revealed another dagger that she had hidden.

"I'm here by Duke Mason's orders to escort you to the Trafford estate my lady, apologies for not responding to you earlier."

The man said, quickly bowing his head down while still being on the tree, which was quite a sight to see.

"See now that wasn't so hard to do now was it? Would've saved us a dagger and the time we spent."

Lady Melissa sarcastically said, while scolding him sarcastically, though the man looked like he thought Lady Melissa was actually scolding him.

"My sincerest apologies Lady Melissa, I shall make sure not to do something like that ever again."

The man said, apologizing once more as he bowed again, on the tree, which its branches were still miraculously staying still.

"I'll accept your apology once you stop giving me death glares, I can feel them coming from you even when you're bowing down you know."

Lady Melissa said, feeling the intense aura of the man which she didn't even know why he was giving her death glares.

"My apologies once more Lady Melissa, the reason I am intensely staring at you is because this is the first time Duke Mason has asked me to escort someone to the estate, much less a woman."

"Oh is that so? I'm surprised."

Lady Melissa said she was surprised yet at the same time she wasn't.

"Yes, Lady Melissa. Would you like to depart right now? Or would you rather that we wait till 9 AM or 9 30 AM before we leave?"

The man said, stopping at his question before continuing.

"It's actually quite a short distance from here to Duke Mason's estate if we use the shortcut, it'll probably only take 20-30 minutes."

The man said, telling Lady Melissa that it wouldn't take too long for them to reach the Trafford estate.

"Well how about we wait till 9 before departing? I'd like to converse with you for a bit."

Lady Melissa said, revealing a devious smirk as she intensely stared at the man, awaiting his response.

"Yes ma'am!"

The man said, bowing his head down before he could hear the tree's branch cracking, he quickly jumped inside Lady Melissa's room.

"You know, that tree was hundreds of years old, passed by each generation of the Shayla family before it became ours."

Lady Melissa said, stopping herself before she quickly continued her sentence.

"That is, before you somehow had almost made the tree fall down."

Lady Melissa said, her anger very evident as the veins in her forehead were showing.

"My apologies Lady Melissa, however the tree didn't fall, only one of its branches snapped and broke. I believe that it wouldn't be enough to fall such a big tree."

The man said, apologizing for the third or fourth time to Lady Melissa while Lady Melissa simply let out a sigh, too tired to reply to him.

In the span of around 10-15 minutes, the man had apologized to Lady Melissa a total of 3-4 times, though Lady Melissa was a bit skeptical of his apologies since she couldn't really tell how he was feeling through his words or body language.
