Lady Melissa didn't like the feeling of being uncomfortable whenever she had to even think of the idea of talking to someone privately, who wasn't someone she trusted.

Lady Melissa had a very short list of who she trusted in her life, and of course, her parents were at the top of the list.

As they should be, Justin was also a part of the list as he was her bodyguard, she wouldn't even ask her friend to give Justin to her if she didn't trust him.

Though it wasn't trust she saw in Justin in the first place, she just learnt to eventually trust Justin.

Well, it was hard not to trust him since he practically was with her the whole day or almost the whole day.

Lady Melissa ended up trusting him because of how much time they spent with each other, even if most of it was in silence.

It was the fastest that Lady Melissa had ever trusted someone before, though to be completely fair, Justin was given a very considerable amount of time to spend with her every day.

And by a considerable amount of time, Lady Melissa meant as in almost the full twenty-four hours of each day.

Maybe Lady Melissa was overreacting, but whenever she opened her eyes, she knew that Justin was guarding her, even if he wasn't in front of her, she could sense his aura.

Like when Lady Melissa noticed that Justin's aura had suddenly appeared as she was having trouble sleeping.

It felt nice though, for Lady Melisssa, to have someone protecting her, even if it was through guarding her all day, and that they were being paid to do so.

Lady Melissa had just felt so uneasy after the whole Crown Prince incident, feeling as if she couldn't trust anyone.

And, as much as Lady Melissa trusted her own instincts, she just couldn't make herself feel comforted enough.

Lady Melissa didn't believe in her own capabilities, and she had often underestimated herself.

Lady Melissa had more than enough skills needed for the task or job at hand, she had just often lacked the courage to do so.

And although it took some time adjusting to feeling someone's eyes on her practically the whole day, she adjusted to it pretty quickly.

Because, unlike where in balls where she had to look pretty and act perfect or else rumours would spread and she would get judged, she didn't have to keep up many appearances here, at the comfort of her own home.

Lady Melissa was thankful for that, she could feel at ease with Justin, even if he was silently watching her and that they didn't have many conversations with each other.

Lady Melissa didn't have to act differently than usual, she could be the usual self, knowing that Justin wouldn't tell anyone about anything.

And knowing that comforted Lady Melissa, and somehow it made her feel happy.

That she could be her true self, without worrying about any rumours being spread around.

After all, Justin had done a Knight's vow to her, and unless he had a death wish, he most likely wouldn't be breaking it.

But, the vow would kill him before he even managed to tell others about Lady Melisssa's deepest and darkest secrets.

Justin would be stopped midway before he had the chance to indulge others in his master's secrets.

Lady Melissa wondered if another reason why she had felt more at ease ever since Justin had come was that she never had a sibling.

Justin felt like a sibling to Lady Melissa, though she had never really given him any kind of special treatment before.

More specifically, Justin was like an older brother, silently guarding Lady Melissa to make sure she was fine and doing well.

Justin was actually pretty happy, that Lady Melissa was fine and that she wasn't discomforted with him guarding her almost the whole day.

Justin, although with his beefy arms, and his pale complexion, was a thoughtful person, as much as he didn't show it.

However, after a few days had passed since Justin's arrival, he could see Lady Melissa getting more and more at ease with him, and he was more than delighted.

Some might even say that he was ecstatic, though they would never know.

Justin was happy that Lady Melissa was warming up to him and that the both of them had moved on from the whole awkward situation.

He understood that it was weird for Lady Melissa to have someone guarding her every day, for almost the whole day as she didn't have any guards before.

Truth be told, Justin had expected it to take longer for Lady Melissa to adjust to the whole situation, and if he was being honest, he had seen Lady Melissa as a little sister of his.

Justin had a little sister, one who had pretty similar eyes to Lady Melissa, that whenever he looked at her, it was as if he saw his dead sister, Ava.

Ava was Justin's little sister, who was tragically murdered, by some street thugs.

Justin was caught stealing from the street thugs in question, and Ava had managed to distract them, signalling Justin to run.

Justin could never forget the guilt he had felt that day, and how much he had regretted never coming back for Ava.

He had been ten when it happened, and Ava was eight.

Justin imagined that Ava would look similar to Lady Melissa if she was still alive, and had grown out her hair, as Ava usually liked to keep it short.

The next day, when Justin had finally gathered enough courage to go back to the same alleyway where the street thugs and Ava had been, Ava wasn't there, at least not anymore.

Justin saw dry blood, and there was a lot of it, he had assumed Ava was dead, after all, who else's blood would it be?

Justin regretted a lot of decisions in his life, and he had often made bad decisions, but this was the one decision that he regretted the most, not coming back for his little sister.

It would even give him nightmares to this very day, and it was one of the reasons why Justin didn't really like sleeping.

He would get nightmares of Ava's dead body (which he had imagined it) screaming at the top of her lungs, calling him a 'traitor' a 'liar' and various other nicknames.

If Justin could turn back in time and save his sister, he would.

Ava was the only living relative he had that was alive, and the both of them would always stick for each other.

Or at least Ava would.

Although Justin was older, Ava was always more mature and responsible than him.

Justin was the one who had the brawns, while Ava was the one who had the brains.

Justin wondered if Ava was still alive perhaps, by some miracle, since he had never actually seen her body, but he would often shrug the idea off, not wanting to let himself cling onto that hope.

The hope he had that Ava was still alive and that he didn't kill her.

But, Justin knew, that day he left Ava, he had killed her, physically and mentally.

Justin had gone through a variety of things in his life, backstabbing (both metaphorically and physically), gruesome fights, and even getting kidnapped.

There was no end to things he had gotten himself involved in.

But the one thing he regretted not getting himself involved in was saving his sister.

It was the least he could've done for her after everything she had done to him, and for that he would always regret the decision he made on that day.
