The degree of Ji Li’s appearance complex apparently exceeded Lu Xun’s imagination.

He was now extremely afraid that favorability was rising too quickly, if things continued this way, then some things might happen that he couldn’t control anymore. 5

He definitely wasn’t willing to be a Furnace Tripod, because he valued his life dearly. 1

Now, the sky was utterly dark. The night sky without any fog was especially beautiful with the bright stars decorating the high-hanging moon above them.

However, even with the transcending beauty above them, they knew that the dense forest in this world was filled with all sorts of dangers. It was better to be careful spending the night here.

“Should we take turns on the night watch?” Lu Xun suggested.

“Okay.” Ji Li responded with a nod.

“You go rest first.” Lu Xun said as he hugged the Luxurious Long Sword that he’d looted off the corpses.

The sword looked all showy, it sure branded itself as ‘luxurious’, however, its quality was the highest amongst all the Ordinary Metals grouped together with the corpses. The man probably paid a great price before he died.

Ji Li looked towards her surroundings again before asking, “There won’t be more ghosts tonight, right?”

“That would be the most ideal situation.” Lu Xun said as he showed a brimming smile, this was because he thought about earning more experience and couldn’t help but show his inward expression.

Ji Li: “…”

Before finally laying down to rest, she couldn’t help but ask him another question, “You’re not going to ask why I’m being chased down?”

Lu Xun glanced at her and teased, “Because you’re constantly snatching people around to be Furnace Tripods?”

Ji Li had been annoyed at him and turned away, no longer looking at Lu Xun, it was because she was afraid that after she saw his face again, her temper would cool down unyieldingly…

After a short moment, it seemed that she was genuinely tired because she soon fell asleep.

However, it was quite obvious that she didn’t fall into a deep sleep and only wanted to rest for a short while.

No matter how innocent and unaffected Ji Li was to the events that had transpired, after experiencing such a long chase, it was certain that she acquired the habit of staying vigilant.

If not, she would’ve already been dead.

Lu Xun, on the other hand, wasn’t actually tired at the moment as he stayed up to study his own character panel again, he then thought about what he should do next.

It wasn’t until the later half of the night that he exchanged shifts with Ji Li.

Nothing really important happened the entire night, both of them didn’t encounter any more demons or monsters, Ji Li felt extremely relieved. Lu Xun, however, still wanted to kill a few Dark Simpletons, but there were clearly none in the vicinity, which was somewhat regrettable, this showed how rare the creature he encountered was.

Moving experience packs were only encountered fortuitously as expected!

After sunrise, the two of them hurried onwards to their destination again.

After experiencing these events, Ji Li no longer ran carrying Lu Xun, this made Lu Xun feel the disparity of losing a mount.

How could it be more comfortable walking on one’s own compared to riding a mount?

The divine immortals in the myths could all fly in the sky and traverse through the grounds, but they still all got mounts to ride, didn’t they?

However, a grown man ‘requesting a hug’ from a young lady was rather shameful and creepy to say so. ‘Whatever, I’ll just rely on my long legs.’

On the way, Lu Xun discovered that Ji Li had a particularly terrible sense of direction and liked to frequently ‘toss a coin’ when she was indecisive—this action was done by tossing the Wedding Dress sword.

Even more so, she seemed to like doing the opposite of where the Wedding Dress sword pointed. If the sword point pointed west, she would definitely head east, and if the sword point pointed south, she would definitely head north.

He wasn’t sure whether she was a natural aojiao1 or maybe perhaps she just couldn’t deal with the sword.

After several more hours had passed, the two of them spent a great deal of effort before they finally saw a small city within the distance.

As Ji Li looked at the small city ahead of her, her eyes curved into a crescent moon again. Back when they were on the way to wherever god knows they were heading, it seemed that she loved saying these words over and over again. “My sense of direction has always been good as a child.” Later on when it was apparent that they were still lost, she would feel guilty for saying such words. However, at this very moment, she couldn’t help but say:

“Like I said! My sense of direction has always been good. Haven’t we already arrived at Green Wood County?”

Lu Xun didn’t speak and just let his actions be his words, he pointed towards the direction of the city’s entrance.

Ji Li looked at where Lu Xun’s finger was pointing. Two words were written on the city entrance—Wei County.

She immediately felt awkward upon seeing this and wasn’t able to speak anymore.

In contrast to this, Lu Xun’s eyes lit up after seeing the two words in front of him, ‘Wei County’.

This was a “Newbie Village”, that he was quite familiar with!

As mentioned previously, Lu Xun heavily relied on the game ‘Heavenly Earth’ to make a living.

He had created many alts, and after completing some difficult newbie missions that would benefit the account early on, he would sell it in order to earn money.

People called him ‘Heavenly Earth’s Number One Human Trafficker’. 4

Heavenly Earth’s lands were enormous. Because of this, the game’s background was very complicated, as a result, there were also many newbie villages—Wei county being one of them—luckily, it just happened to be where one of Lu Xun’s alts’ that had gone through in the past.

On the way, Lu Xun already wormed out some facts by asking and found out that it was currently the Heavenly Earth Calendar Year 3997.

He remembered very clearly that when ‘Heavenly Earth’ was in Open Beta at the time, the game’s background on the Heavenly Earth Calendar Year was 4000. 3

Then… wasn’t this three years earlier?!

If Open Beta players were to appear again, then it would happen three years from now, right?

However, since he didn’t participate during the Alpha Testing, he didn’t know its specific time, but it was definitely earlier than the Open Beta.

Even though he had vaguely seen the time of the Alpha Testing on the forums, sadly, it seems that he had thoroughly long forgotten about it.

It seems that many rebirthed liberal-educated male protagonists would remember things clearly regardless of its importance. Wouldn’t that just be a showcase of a completely emotionless machine? 2

Despite Lu Xun having no such skills, and had only managed to remember a portion, he was still familiar with Wei County.

As expected, once he entered Wei County, the surrounding scene before him was indeed familiar with only a few bits of unfamiliarity.

After finding the most clean-looking inn, Lu Xun and Ji Li walked in together. Specifically speaking, Lu Xun was now leading the front while Ji Li was like a small tail following behind him.

Originally, at the start, she really wanted to snatch Lu Xun and use him as a Furnace Tripod, however, now that he was counted as half of a life-saver of hers, she was having second thoughts.

This was because she clearly knew that Furnace Tripods all had a bad end. She really couldn’t bear to harm Lu Xun this way, however, she was also somewhat reluctant to just give up.

She still wanted to learn the cultivation technique that was passed on to her. If she didn’t learn it, then she might not be able to take revenge during this lifetime.

And… She was absolutely certain that a Furnace Tripod more superior to him couldn’t be found under the sun.

So…

‘Well… The worst that could happen is that we’ll lie down and study together, maybe perhaps even see if there’s a way that doesn’t harm a person’s roots…’ Ji Li thought anyhow.

With these thoughts in tow, She had been shamelessly following Lu Xun with the Wedding Dress sword hanging on her waist. Her two meaty hands were embracing the metal rod, heavy hammer, and the other things she got as a freebie. She was fully prepared to sell them anytime and had never let them go even just once along the way. 3

A miser she was! 1

After entering Come Fortune inn, the attendant greeted them in a hurry, “Are the two guests here stopping by or staying?”

Lu Xun’s appearance was indeed too distracting, it was to the point that the attendant even doubted whether he was truly a celestial that had descended to the mortal realm.

“Staying, we’ll take the high-quality rooms,” said Lu Xun, the man who had become rich and imposing after looting corpses.

“Alright!” The attendant was suddenly even more enthusiastic than his previous greeting and couldn’t help but ask, “Do the two guests want one room or two rooms?”

Lu Xun smiled musingly at Ji Li, he was deliberately provoking her, so he didn’t speak in response.

She held back a long while before finally choosing a decisive decision, “One room!”

‘Hiss…’ Lu Xun gasped in shock, he was clearly expressing that he was afraid and quickly waved his hand, “Two rooms.”

‘Unbearable, unbearable.’

‘This young lady actually still hadn’t given up! You still want me to be a Furnace Tripod? In your dreams!’

‘You stinkin’ little sister who refuses to give up sinister intentions!’ 1

Just when the two were about to go upstairs, another guest came to Come Fortune inn.

Lu Xun casually took a glance, however, after seeing who had come, his brows wrinkled almost indiscernibly.

‘This is a little interesting…’ He thought.
