Much had changed since he was teleported to the Hard Tutorial. The scenery of the planet had never altered. Always dark and gloomy it had taken him time to find people. They were all weak at first, but now they were tough. The group ranged from Polish to Russian people. They nodded at him as he headed through the camps. Cook fires were the only light. Thunder echoed overhead as he parted the tent flap.

“Stanislaw,” someone said from inside. They were huddled around a table. All in plate armor or chainmail robes. Stanislaw was the second in command.

“I found it,” he said. “The shadow boss is here.” Pointing near the edge of the map he had just come back from. They had been 500 strong once, but now they were a mere 100. The shadow boss had been killing them one by one, day by day. Very few had seen it and escaped. “There is a cave. Dead trees surround it. We cut them down, burn them, and kill it once and for all.”

A few people tried to hide their fear. He ignored it. After passing his Trial he understood what true darkness was. This land could be much worse. Another person coughed as they did not speak. Angry at their reluctance Stanislaw locked eyes with the Guild Master. “Now is the time. Day breaks soon and though it is not much light, it will be some. I will not listen to another scream as someone is taken.”

“We have 10 days left,” the Guild Master said.

“And if you are taken in those 10 days? Or me?” Stanislaw spat. His long dark hair had turned gray as he leveled up. Many knew of the Witcher. Though their guild master was strong, people still looked for him when the fighting got rough. The guild master frowned but slowly nodded.

“Today,” he promised. Stanislaw nodded, a smile creeping on his lips. He ached for this fight. It had been building for months. He would stop by the merchant to get some potions and gather the other raid members.

Wu was bored sitting around his tent. There were still around 500 people left in his group, and they were at the top of the food chain. Werewolves, goblins, and many other small monsters had once ruled the area. Now it was Wu and his people. Idly he read through his status screen.

Of course it hadn’t always been easy. The werewolf tribes had fought tooth and nail. The humans were on the losing side. After stumbling on his trial, Wu learned much more about his powers. Able to steal strength with blood, and use blood how he wished they were able to turn the tides.

Standing up he studied his body in the full-height mirror. He was a far cry from the flabby man he had been when entering the tutorial. Taller now, he was over 6 feet. His skin was paler, but his muscles and face became more refined.

The air around him stirring he turned to see 2 beauties step into the large tent. They were young, and as he stared at them they dropped the simple nightgowns they wore. Wu smiled as he beckoned them over to him. Life was good.

Liam jumped in the air punching the stone golem for all he was worth. Mana shot out of his arm further damaging the rock monster. It only took a few more hits for it to topple over. Everyone around it began attacking the monster as it thrashed. It didn’t take long for them to get the kill notification.

Wiping the sweat from his brow Liam brought up his status screen.

Their group had done well with their Samurai instructor. They were 600 all together and had broken off into groups around the desert. Most all of them were part of the same guild now, and despite some hiccups at the beginning they worked well together.

“Nice job,” Bill said. He was Liam’s twin brother. They had been able to save him all those weeks ago. It had taken time for his brother to awaken, he was now able to join them on hunts.

“There’s another,” Someone yelled. Liam looked up. Over some sand dunes there was the distinguishing rock head of the golem. Liam ran over, as the main tank he was always the first to strike.

Kenichi split his mind into 2. His clone stepped out of him. Made up of mana it had taken a lot of practice to learn to control 1 clone. Now he could almost do another. His mind processing the information from both views he sent his clone off through the trees. Others behind him waited patiently. Trying his best to split his mind he looked at his status screen as his clone ran.

A lot better than it use to be, he was excited to level up soon. The clone ducked underneath a large root. He noticed a small fire ahead. Quietly the clone crept forward, but it missed the large lizard men. They blended into the forest too easily. A spear went through the clones neck causing his HP to drop by 10.

“Fuck!” He hissed. “Lizard people, straight ahead,” Kenichi said to the rest of his group. They walked forward as Kenichi expelled mana out in his Shroud. The protective screen around him had a yellow glow to it. He needed to go kill the guy that killed him.

Gen used Mana Grip on her hands. Sticking to the cave wall easily she climbed up and over the large spider. Others attacked its feet while drawing its attention. When she was overtop she willed her long thin blade to hand and pulled the mana back in. Dropping from the ceiling she yelled as the blade whistled through the air.

Stabbing deep into the monster’s brain it squealed. Trying to shake her off she used her grip to hold on tight. Pushing the blade deeper the beast did one final screech then dropped. She sighed as it fell. The legs curled up like they always did, and people began hacking it again. They used every part of their kills.

Gen pulled up her screen as she stored her blade.

She had been overweight at the start of the tutorial. Now she was lithe and thin. In her Custom white leather armor her red hair was tied back as she slid down the white mask.

“Well done,” the Guild Master said. He eyed her longingly as he extended his hand to help her down. Gen rolled her eyes and did a flip off the spider.

“As always,” she said walking away. They had killed most all of the smaller spiders, and now almost all of the medium ones. All that was left was the giant one that roamed around. Willing a a water bottle to her hand she headed out of the cave.

Ibrahim exited his mind space. Something was off in the air. Bringing up his status screen he tried to understand what the problem was.

Nothing coming to mind he closed it. Mana coursed all around him as he meditated. His eyes closed, he finally sensed it. The mana stirred in the air. It was drawn to a source directly behind Ibrahim. He did not stir, simply waited. The figure came closer and closer. The mana signature of the man was obvious. Ibrahim was sad he would have to kill this man as well.

With no warning the man struck from behind. Ibrahim smoothly dodged under the blade as he used mana to lift the once friend up. “Hakim,” Ibrahim spat at him as he flailed his sword around. Ibrahim gripped it with his mana and ripped the blade from his hands. “Not surprising. You were always dumb.”

“You lead us to death,” Hakim said with a scream. Others around the fire began to stir. Ibrahim knew many agreed with Hakim, but he did not care. Turning the blade around with mana Ibrahim pointed it at his opponent. He used Telekinesis every chance he could.

“Either your Syscos or life, which is more important?” Ibrahim asked.

Hakim yelled. “Strike him while he is focused on me,” he begged the people gathering around. Ibrahim did not bother to look at the others. Using Telekinesis he cut the man’s arm off. No one stepped up to heal him.

“Your Syscos or your life?” Ibrahim asked. Hakim wailed as blood poured out of his arm. It didn’t take long for the screen to pop up. The once mighty warrior only had a few hundred, but many of his people were bad with money. “Your name will be struck from the guild, and you are banished.” With barely a thought Ibrahim flung the man’s body out of their camp as far as he could. Sitting back down at his spot he looked around at those who had followed.

“Listen well, our home will not be the same. We fight this boss, or we all die when we get home. I have seen it. But I have also seen us surviving the fight,” Ibrahim said. Going back to his Mind Space to think he ignored other distractions.

—

Lillian punched the yeti hard in the side. The 12 foot tall beast hardly noticed as others attacked it. Stepping back she focused mana into her hands as she charged up her attack. With a grunt she punched the yeti in the knee. With the added strength the monster’s leg buckled. The light saber sliced through it’s head when it could be reached.

“Smooth as ever Lily baby,” the Australian man said. “I didn’t think Canada would be so cold, but who knew you had yetis too.”

Lillian rolled her eyes. That was always the guild masters joke, that they were still in Canada. Oh there’s a bunch of clones attacking, damn Canadians. Oh its -30 out, damn Canada. This stuff tastes like syrup, who knew it really came out of the ground in Canada?

The last one was weird to Lillian too, there was a lake nearby that actually tasted like syrup. Sometimes he made her think that the planet tiering up had made all the changes to the land, and they really were still in Canada.

He made quick work of dismembering the yeti as she looked through her screen.

“Oy, clones incoming,” someone yelled from the mouth of the cave. Lillian rolled her eyes. After they arrived a few were able to buy the Omni skills. Now that they could talk their fighting had stopped, but they were still a pain in the ass.

“Which one is it? Moe, Curly, or Harry?” The Guild Master asked.

“I can’t tell them apart,” the man said sheepishly. Lillian rolled her eyes, he said that every time the clones came by, and someone always fell for it.
