Tiff woke up to another notification.

DAY OF ILLUSION

Quest Objective:

Defeat Monsters for Contribution Points

With a groan she cuddled up to Atalanta more. They were warm in their shared sleeping bags, and she didn’t want to have to fight again. Her hands idly played with Atty’s perky nipples as she wondered where Asher was.

They were on day 7 of their trial. Prillish had not been waiting for her when she left the hall, so she grumpily flew around until she found Keera. With her bird’s eye view they were able to find everyone else easily. There had been some skirmishes with demons and clones of course, but everyone was able to escape without too much damage done.

The only people missing from their group now was Batman, Ming, and Asher. Kissing Atty’s neck the girl finally stirred awake, but Tiff wasn’t in the mood for once. Sliding out of the silky sleeping bag she became bathed in light as she dressed. Stepping out of her tent she noticed Abby and Ria already at the fire.

Pulling out her chair she sat across from them. “What do you think it will be today?” Tiff asked.

“I’m guessing those spiders again,” Abby said. “The ones from our last trial.”

“Those were psychic, we already did mind ones,” Ria said.

“We did?” Abby asked.

“2 days ago, those big daddy long leg things,” Ria said.

“Oh right,” Abby said. Every day there had been a new monster to fight. After the 1st 24 hours they received a notification of the Day of Life. Then small phoenix monsters attacked them. The following day was holy, and cherubs attacked. Purple wolves attacked on the Soul day. Psychic daddy long legs on the Mind day. Although they weren’t really daddy long legs, they were more like balloon animals, no real flesh, they had been hard to fight. The day before had been the Day of Dreams and shadow dementor like things attacked them.

Each of them held an element, and had been easy at first. The group usually fought over 100, but the element changed daily with their levels. The first day they had been level 15, and now they should be level 20. With 22 days left to go the monsters would be in the 40s by the time the Trial finished. A level higher than all of them, including Asher.

Groans started happening around the camp as more people woke up. Tiff missed her daily shot of coffee. She would either have to stock up on coffee when they got back to Earth, or never let Asher leave her side again. Bored, she pulled up the Contribution Board.

Their competition was beating them, she didn’t like that. The group received 1 contribution point for each monster they killed. Apparently the other teams were doing better than them. Mostly they had been staying near the camp since the monsters came to them. With the clones and demons on an attack first ask questions later policy, it was hard to look for the others. Batman had his shadows, Ming had her Lightstep, and Asher could find Tiff anywhere. They would be able to find the group when they were ready.

She brought up her status screen, with all the fighting there was at least some good news.

With her most recent level up she had received a new skill, Elasticity. She could charge parts of her body with mana, making them easier to stretch. Atty and Tiff may have tried it the night before with some very intense toy use. She couldn’t wait to have Asher huge in every hole when he came back.

“Any news on Asher?” Vincent asked.

Tiff flushed red in anger. She was about to say something, but his parents were there. Before she could stop herself she used her Telepathy to send a picture to his mind of her cutting off his head. Vincent flinched and she regretted it.

“Sorry,” she said sheepishly. “No, haven’t heard from him, Batman, or Ming.”

People sat around the fire quietly. Already hot meals were pulled out of their rings, and minor conversations broke out. Tiff was mostly quiet as she fretted over her husband. A part of her worried she would feel this way every time he left. Had she become too dependent on him?

It had been okay during the last Trial because she knew he was coming back, but right now she had no idea what he was going through. She had been able to distract herself with Atty a little, but without her morning sex Tiff knew she had the gloomies. Calming herself, Tiff made sure she wasn’t using any mana. Sometimes her Telepathy or Emotion Control leaked out making everyone else feel the way she felt.

“Where do you think they are?” Atty asked.

“My guess is the other Halls,” Bishop said.

“Ours were so easy though,” Vincent said.

“Who knows? All we can do is trust they will come back,” Ria said. “Just gives us more time to catch up in levels.” They had all leveled nicely over the last few days. Bishop was now 35, Ria 36, Abby 36, Atalanta 36, Vincent 33, Nadir 34, and Keera 31.

“Come on, it’s about time,” Abby said getting up. Most everyone agreed and lights shined as chairs and dirty dishes were stored. They took their positions around the camp. Split into 2 groups they were stationed equally apart with Bishop in the middle. Since he had the best heals he was able to keep most everyone topped up. With his new Life affinity his heals had only gotten stronger.

It didn’t take long for Keera to yell, “They’re here!”

“What are they?” Nadir asked.

“Chameleons,” she said. On top of a hill they were surrounded by the thick foliage of the jungle. Tiff heard them before she saw them. They were 8 feet long, and had gray skin. Climbing through the trees and under the brush there was a huge amount of them as they poked their heads out. Then as one they disappeared.

“Shit,” Tiff said. “Nadir, can you break their illusion?”

“Trying,” he said. Mana poured out of him extending past the group. It only made it a few feet past the line of fighters but it was enough. Casting Flight Tiff turned her head this way and that. Nadir’s illusion mana collided with the chameleons showing them just barely. One attacked Vincent as it appeared.

Ria used her taunt getting 5 focused on her, but Vincent didn’t have a good taunt, many went around him. Tiff cast Telekinesis and threw those out that had made it to the camp. Casting Pyrokinesis on them they screamed and came out of their camouflage.

“I fucking miss Asher,” she said as another group got past Ria. Mana poured out of her throwing chameleons and making them burst into flames.

It took an hour and a half to beat all of them. She was glad it was over. Tents were overturned, and after a long sweep they made sure they got all of them. The lizard parts disappeared into rings as others cleaned up damage.

When everything was back in place she was going to send Atty a signal to meet her somewhere for some fun, but was stopped as a stray thought hit her. A familiar feeling came to her, looking around she couldn’t place where she felt it before. Then something above caught her eyes. As she understood who it was a smile split her lips. Casting Flight she raised up in the air to meet the demon.

“Hello girlfriend,” Tiff said with a smile. Prillish did not seem so happy to see Tiff. “Whats wrong?” She asked confused.

“This is not a pleasure call,” Prillish said. Atty flew up next to Tiff.

‘This her?’ Atty asked her mind. Tiff nodded, the other woman also had the same idea as Tiff. Maybe all 3 could have some fun.

“What kind of call is it? A booty?” Tiff asked. Hope in her voice.

“I do not know what that is,” Prillish said. “No, the Demon Lord has requested to meet you and your hero.”

“Demon Lord?” Atty asked, Tiff didn’t like that name either.

“Our Champion,” she clarified.

“Oh, big satan looking guy,” Tiff said. “Sure, we would love to meet, but our Champion isn’t here.”

“Why not?” Prillish asked.

“He’s off fighting,” she decided to say. “But all of us can meet. Will the Clones be there?” Prillish nodded. “When and where?”

An hour later they were trekking through the jungle. There were still some chameleons, but Keera and Nadir were able to sense them easily enough. They eventually came to an open clearing with one of the stone huts at the center. The other 2 groups were already there.

Big red and head-clone were near the stone hut. Behind the demon was his posse of other demons. Their skin tone was either red, pitch black, gray or sickly pale white. Many had pointy ears, horns on their heads, sharp pointy teeth, and most everything that freaked the squishy human she was. They ranged in size from 7 feet tall to 5 feet. All wore armor, robes, and weapons.

The clones were a little less imposing. They were all about 6 feet tall. In black robes the majority of them were hidden behind hoods. Pale white skin, shaved heads, big foreheads, no eyebrows, and pitch black eyes she shivered looking at them.

She counted them, the clones had 9 total, the demons had 10, and with her people missing Tiff only had 8. Since Asher was gone she felt like the defacto leader. Stepping forward she stopped a few paces away. Using Mana Sight she made sure no one tried to use a skill on her.

“Where is the Lawful Good?” The clone asked. Tiff thought his name was Alfa.

“Killing monsters,” she said.

The other Champions shared a look. “He has not left his Hall then,” Ezarian said.

“You saw him!?” She asked louder than she meant to. The demon rubbed his left arm and nodded. She wanted to ask more questions, but left it. If he hadn’t left yet then there was a good reason for it. Maybe she could trade something to get the exact location later. “I am his wife, talking to me is as good as talking to him. What do you want?”

The Champions shared another look. “A simple exchange of information,” Alfa said. “My team has 8 keys.”

“As does mine,” Ezarian said.

“Ours as well, but we have 3 people missing. We assume they are stuck in Halls. Do you have any of yours missing?” She asked. They shook their heads. “I assume you are attacked by monsters daily as well?” They nodded. “Then what information are you looking to exchange?”

“We want to get maps going,” Alfa said. “Exchange information on what Halls have been beaten.”

“Yes,” Tiff said. “My husband says there is always a trick to these Trials. I doubt any of us have figured it out. I will agree to help if we can agree to a non-aggression pact.” The trio then began ironing out the finer details.

Batman stared at the 1 construct. He had been down there for months, and he still couldn’t figure it out. Breathing in and out heavily he stepped forward once more. The dark mana poured out of him, but the construct did not react whatsoever. Moving forward his sword struck and bounced off it’s skin. Again and again he tried to chip away at it, but the construct did not react. It only ever really moved to attack, or if Batman tried to walk past.

When his tries were over he stepped back. Using Mana Sight he watched as the construct channeled it’s own mana. Darker and more malicious than Darkness mana it sent a shiver through his spine. He couldn’t defend as the wave of mana struck him. Sick to his stomach he began retching as his skin began to crawl.

His health dropped from 105 to 22 in an instant. Stepping back he began to meditate. His HP slowly ticking up he would attack again once he was at full health. Using Mana Sight with his eyes closed he felt the different mana around him. Similar but different than Dark Mana he knew this Death Mana was no joke.
