They had been receiving points for the Gone they had killed. There was a lot of overlap, but usually they shared the 1 or so points they got for each. Asher got more because he fought most every Abomination and Behemoth. He was quite happy with the final scores. He was excited to see what they could get with them. He brought up the status screen. Still waiting for the System to finish calculations.

“You did great!” General Vich yelled. He and the others were running over. Asher was full HP and MP by the time they made it. Deacia ran ahead into Tiff’s arms. They both laughed as they fell to the ground.

“Thanks,” Asher said. “We are just waiting for the System to judge our performance.”

“What happens after that?” Vich asked. Asher looked at Tiff and Deacia, but didn’t answer. Too tired to do much else he started a fire and sat down. Munching on some food they were soon all doing the same. Asher hoped they would go soon. Just in case they did he dropped everyone’s supplies he had been holding.

The supplies were mostly food and water barrels. The Truskins dug in. He didn’t want to get zapped away, and leave them with nothing. The fire at the egg field was dying down, and he could hear random shrieks from the city, but he felt they were safe enough.

“Should we head back to Truskin?” Vich asked.

“Maybe-” He was stopped after a screen popped up.

“Fuck!” Asher said as the area around them exploded. Thrown away by the force Asher flew through the air losing consciousness for a split second.

He woke up instantly as his right arm grabbed onto the earth to slow him down. With a grunt he looked back to where they had been sitting. There was a large crater in the ground. Asher poured mana into himself and was there in an instant. Tiff was near the center. Her legs were blown off. Asher moved to her and pulled out his Max Heal potion he got from his fight with Nicolai. The potion had always been there for a rainy day. He poured the potion down her throat. Her legs didn’t reappear, but she slowly woke up.

“Ash?” She asked weakly.

“We were attacked. Destruction Boss from Trial 2,” he said. Scanning the area he noticed others running up to them. General Vich appeared to be the only one alive from the troops they had brought. The other bodies laid lifelessly around the crater.

“Dea?!” Tiff asked, looking around. Asher noticed her body next to Tiff hidden under the dirt. He pulled her up. Her lifeless body was missing the lower half. Tiff sobbed as she tried to get up. Bishop came down and began healing his wife. There was nothing to be done for Deacia.

Asher finally noticed it then. Letting them go as his dad worked he stood up. The Destruction Boss was a floating angel. Black feathered wings, it had the face of a high human. Perfect features. Short black hair, fully black eyes, sharp pointy teeth, the skin was a sickly pale white. It wore a tattered pair of pants at its legs. No shoes. It was the closest Asher had seen to a final anime boss. Like a mix between Sephiroth and Ichigo’s Bankai in Bleach. He used ID.

*****Destro ?????*****

Level 55

A 5 Risk. Asher had never fought something so strong. He remembered Tosh said they estimated it was equivalent to level 80. Luckily Asher had fought higher levels than that in the Roktai Trial.

“Asher, I don’t care what you have to do, but you kill that fucking thing!” Tiff commanded him from the ground as her legs slowly grew back from his dad’s Life mana. Tears rolling down her eyes he couldn’t say no. He would get revenge for Deacia.

“Everyone run,” he ordered. He brought out his sword and was back in Berserker Armor.

“Your arm!” Batman yelled from outside the crater. Asher looked down to see his left arm was gone again. It ended at the shoulder this time. Cursing, he wouldn’t be able to use the Painless enchant with an arm no longer there.

“Doesn’t matter,” he said. “I fight better 1-handed.” For 10 years he fought with just his right arm. Since coming back he had focused on only using his left. Trying to build it up to how accustomed he was to his right. Now it was time to bring his A-game.

“Run,” Asher said and jumped at the Destruction Boss. It grabbed his sword barehanded. Asher gritted his teeth and flung it with all of his strength. It soared through the air and hit the wall of the city hard. Smashing through one of the red god heads. Asher didn’t wait. He fell and jumped after it. He was closing in as the mana shifted ahead of him. Acting on instinct he jumped straight up as the air around him was destroyed. The black and white destruction mana spread and caused everything around it to cease to be. Craters formed in the ground.

The Destruction Boss flew at him. Asher attacked, blocking the hands as the nails lengthened. Mana leaked out of the humanoid monster. Small pockets of Destruction formed around them. Asher disengaged and dropped as the booms sounded. He felt the force of Destruction. It was one of, if not the strongest Mana Type. Asher knew the trick to fighting it. Just don’t touch the mana.

He landed and jumped back up meeting the chest of the Destro Boss. He threw it away hard. With a split second to spare he began cycling mana with all of his focus. It was finally time to get serious.

Mana poured through every pore in his body as he used all of it at once. His eyes became sharper, his muscles twitched as barely a thought would cause all of his strength to be used at once. The metal pipe of his sword grip began to groan under the strain of his finger’s strength. It was time to show what he was really capable of. This was his Mana Rush stage, a stage he had learned after a lot of experimentation during the Roktai Trial. Utilization of mana he only brought out when he was desperate.

He formed a condensed tendril of Physical Mana. The deep red mana pushed him forward as it touched the ground, giving him his own form of flight. He dove at where the Destro had dropped and hit the body hard. The thing’s hands cracked with the force of his blow, but he was only getting started. His blade whistled through the air blowing away the dust clouds as the force threw the Destro back again.

“Learn to fucking take a hit!” He growled. Physical mana poured out of his voice striking the Destro. He leapt again, hitting it in it’s leg. The leg buckled and caused it to fall. His arms raised up to strike it from above but Destruction Mana poured out of it in a wave. Asher moved a little out of the way. The Destruction Mana followed him.

Cursing he led the mana to a group of trees. As the mana struck it exploded everything, causing a chain reaction that continued to follow him. Leaping back he knocked down a tree, hardly noticing it was there. When he landed he leapt back at the boss. The Destro was on it’s feet again and used both hands to block his blade. He used Powerstrike in addition to his Mana Surge this time. The strength caused the Destros fingers to break.

Asher coughed up blood as he struck again. This time he got it in the skull. The humanoid Destro sneered at him. Extending it’s hands more mana shot out. Asher jumped back far. When he landed he finally caught his breath. He coughed up more blood but ignored it. This was the problem with using pure mana in your body. You body didn’t like it.

He looked up to his health bar. HP: 155/215 (9) MP: 40/165. Letting out a sigh it had barely been 15 minutes since the fight started and he was already hurting this much. He was glad he put so much into WIS and INT, but his mana regen wasn’t near fast enough to attack this hard. There had to be a way to defeat it.

Letting his increased mana circulation go to a trickle he started gaining it back up slowly. The planet was only a Tier I, so it would take time. He regretted destroying the dungeon portal now. Maybe there was another dungeon portal? Asher doubted it.

Could he tank the thing around, and give his friends and family time to attack it? No, one hit from the Destruction Mana and they were already knocked out. They needed more battle experience to face it. His only option was to solo it. Or else more could die. He chugged a Mana Potion and began cycling his Mana Rush again.

The Destro dashed at him from the line of trees. Punching Asher hard in the face he was thrown back as Destruction Mana exploded with the punch. Asher felt that one. His jaw broken, he dropped another 20 HP. So soon after taking a mana potion, a health wouldn’t be effective.

Asher cursed as he used condensed Physical Mana to latch onto the ground. Slowing him down he stopped in the air as the Destro flew at him. Wide black wings flapped toward him. He needed mana, and there was only one place Asher knew there was a lot. With a yell he attacked the Destro. Hitting it hard the healed skin cracked again as he threw it with all his might. It flew off into the distance with the force of the hit.

He dropped Mana Rush once more. Willing out the fist-sized Mana Heart from one of the Abominations he studied it. There had to be a way to tap into the mana trapped inside. Remembering the 2nd Trial he pulled out the Synergy Stone. It was white on one side, and black on the other.

“I’m not a fucking Fullmetal Alchemist!” he screamed at it. He tried smashing them together. That did nothing. Pouring Coupling mana over both he thought he felt something from the stone, but this wasn’t his expertise. It was like trying to fix a rocketship after living in a cave all your life. He put the Synergy Stone away.

Pouring mana into his body he began to grow. When he was big enough he swallowed the Mana Heart. A white hot fire exploded in his gut as it settled in his stomach. In Mana Sight he felt the volatile mana start to eat at his insides. Cursing he was going to grab it but the Destruction Mana came out of nowhere. He jumped and was in the air. The dark angel Destro was flying toward him. Asher used Sex Bomb, it did nothing. His gut still burned as the Heart ate at him.

Asher did all he could. He ran. Falling to the ground he ran away as he used a tendril of condensed Physical mana to pull the Heart from his gut. The pain started to subside. Asher jumped from another Destruction surge. Curious why the Heart only hurt when it hit his insides Asher wrapped more Physical mana around it. Still dangling somewhere in his stomach he added in Sex Mana.

The Heart was suspended and no longer hurting. Now the next problem. How to access the energy inside. He jumped as the Destro sliced at him. Closing his eyes he was in complete Mana Sense. The Destro was trailing behind him. Asher used a condensed Physical Mana stream and attached himself to the Destro. The Mana acted like a pole and kept him away from the boss. As the thing flew, Asher was pushed in front of it. Luckily it wasn’t smart enough to know to use Mana Sight at all times.

His eyes closed. Ash used Mana Sense to study the Heart inside of him. It was there, but different to his own mana. Surrounded by his Coupling mana now he tried to draw from it. The power in the heart wouldn’t budge. He was tempted to swallow the Synergy Stone too, but he doubted it would work.

Then it hit him. The thing supposedly used Styx mana. Which was life and death. Maybe he could use holy from his Judgment skill. Holy and Life were linked. The Destro caught on that Asher was pushing himself away with Physical mana and swiped at the thin condensed mana thread breaking it. Pushing holy mana to his gut Asher finally felt the Mana Heart react.

His eyes open, Asher jumped and stayed just out of reach of the Destro as his Holy Mana caressed the Heart. It began to leak out into him slowly. Increasing the Holy Mana it fell out in waves. Asher lashed it inside of him with 5 tendrils of Holy. It was time to get serious…again.

Mana poured through him causing immense pain. But also a shit-ton of power. Asher stopped jumping and hit the Destro in the jaw. It flew off, but Asher dove after it. His sword back in hand he sliced it with everything he had. The Destro stopped itself and the blade, but it’s skin cracked hard. Surrounding itself in Destruction Mana, Asher was sick of running. He cast Judgment bottoming out his MP and struck again. The Destro lost an arm as it flew away. Asher was blown back by the Destruction Mana. His MP was already back half way. The Heart worked overtime. It was nice to finally have as much mana as the damn monsters.

He noticed that his HP was low. The Destruction mana hadn’t hit him too hard, but the Heart was causing damage as he used the volatile power. Cycling Physical mana in his body he made copies of the pain surrounding him, locking the hurt in. He chugged a health potion and was shot back up to full health, but the pain stayed. He used Revenge on the black winged angel again. It screeched with the pain as Asher dispelled the Physical Mana that had locked in the pain from his wounds. The same trick he had used against Tiberion in the Roktai Trial.

This thing had hurt his wife, and he would kill it like she told him.

The fight took 2 hours for him to reach the second phase of the boss. Its hair and wings fell out, the clothes were gone, and the now sexless bald boss fought him from the ground. No more jumping or hiding they struck for all they were worth. Destruction mana leaked out of it, and luckily his sword was able to block most of the damage, shooting him off. He continuously cycled mana at 100%. Attacking for harder and longer than he ever had before. The Mana Heart was his own little blue fighting viagra.

Asher used all of his health potions. The heart ate him from the inside. He knew it wasn’t natural to use the monster’s mana. Either that or he was too low level to be able to handle it. His breath came in ragged, his stomach ached, his health always dropped. He continued to fight. His reactions became slower knowing he had no more health potions. Healing Touch started cycling in him, but the heal was too slow. The Destro got in a lucky hit with the Destruction Mana. It threw Asher away and he dropped to 5 HP. He couldn’t give up. Not now. They still had hours to go. Sweat pouring down him he stumbled as he took a step.

Suddenly he was coated in white light. He sensed his father behind him. He was topped off again. He made to yell at him to go, but the Destro saw him. Throwing Destruction Mana Asher moved to get his father out of there. His father turned black and sunk into shadows. He appeared again somewhere far away. Batman had saved him.

Asher felt renewed vigor as he intercepted the Destro. They started up again. The Mana Heart refilled his MP. As it ate away at him his father would jump in and heal. Batman would get him out of there while Asher distracted it. The field he and the boss were on was now barren as the Destruction mana obliterated everything.

Illusions of Asher appeared, confusing the thing. Mind Mana leaked from somewhere casting more doubt on the Destro. Ki Blasts, dragon mana, sonic booms, and everything they had was thrown once at the Destro then the attacker disappeared. Everyone was helping as they could. No one approached, but it was all the help Asher needed.

He gave his everything, and was rewarded. Asher wasn’t sure how long he fought. How many times his father jumped in at the last second to bring his HP back to full. But the humanoid's skin cracked more and more to show a black abyss as Asher never stopped hitting it. With one final strike Asher stabbed into the chest causing it to shake. Mana leaked out of it and it exploded. No real warning he was knocked out again. He puked up the Mana Heart and lost consciousness as the world faded to white.
