"Y-you are changing the ending?!"
CEO Pan of Wheel work productions stared at Director Chen Pu who was sitting in front of him and asked in a slightly shaky voice.
"Yeah, I told you I have some concerns about it."
Director Chen Pu said in a carefree manner.
If any director had dared to say it after most of the shooting had finished, then he would surely be in a hot mess, but that doesn't apply to Director Chen Pu, who was one of 'golden directors' of China.
Moreover, Wheel works production has already invested too much in «Slayers» and all the power was in the hands of Director Chen Pu now.
Still, CEO Pan voiced out his concerns.
"I know your concerns, but what if the new ending made it worse. The original screenplay can make some of the viewers angry, but it's not that bad..."
CEO Pan drank a glass of water while saying that. He was already old and Director Chen Pu's antics were just forcing him on the path of a heart attack.
He was already in too much stress during the controversy with Na Wen.
"Moreover, aren't you planning the sequel for «Slayers»? You planned the cliff ending for that, right?"
"Ah, well..."
Director Chen Pu awkwardly scratched his head hearing that. When CEO Pan glared at him, he turned his gaze away and replied.
"I was planning a sequel at first, but honestly, I'm tired of historical dramas now. I want to direct a romantic comedy next."
"What the heck?? Do you understand that your 'romance' would be too old for today's generation?"
Director Chen Pu glared hearing that and quickly countered.
"Maybe, I'm old, but I can still think like the young generation. It's you who is the true old man here!!"
"What did you SAY...?!"
Both of them argued with each other like that. Two old men arguing with each other may seem childish, but these two were friends for decades.
After going back and forth with each for a while, they finally calmed down. CEO Pan again opened his mouth and asked.
"So, there won't be a sequel to «Slayers»?"
"Sadly, no."
Director Chen Pu said as he shook his head.
He had already decided on it and there was no going back for him now. CEO Pan very well knows that there is no one in the world who can convince him after he has come to a decision.
That's why, he just made a downcast expression and asked about the changed ending.
"So, how will the ending change? Don't tell me you would kill Xie Xian (The main character) in the end like those tragedies?"
"Don't worry, I won't do anything like that. The ending is perfect for Xie Xian. I just want to change it slightly to give a perfect ending to Cao Xu."
"Cao Xu?"
He knew that Cao Xu was the character that Director Chen Pu had worked the hardest to create and it was also his favourite character in the whole drama.
But only CEO Pan knows this obviously.
"Cao Xu would actually be the killer of Xie Xian's master, but he would die before telling the reasons behind him killing his master."
"That was the original ending."
CEO Pan nodded his head slowly and said. The original ending would leave Xie Xian with no answer.
Of course, there was a plan to tell the reason in the sequel, but that won't happen now.
"Yeah, but I would include the reason this time in the end. Think about it, won't the perception of Cao Xu's entire character change after the reason would be revealed? It would surely leave the viewers in tears."
Director Chen Pu said with a smile on his face and CEO Pan pondered on his words.
He was the only person who knows the reason behind Cao Xu killing Xie Xian's master other than Director Chen Pu and it's really true that it can change the entire motive of Cao Xu and give him a solid backstory.
"Yeah, it does look interesting, but we need to have enough time to explain everything. We can't just hastily insert it in the end."
"I know that well. That's why I have prepared this."
Director Chen Pu said and brought out a doc.u.ment sample from his bag. He passed it to CEO Pan who looked at it curiously before reading it.
"What is this?? The proposal of a special episode!!"
"Yeah, an episode only focused on Cao Xu. It would explain all his craziness and true motive to the viewers."
Director Chen Pu licked his lips while saying that and then, he suddenly thought about something that both of them used to discuss in the past. He again opened his mouth thinking of that.
You remembered the quote we used to talk about in the past?"
CEO Pan raised his head from the proposal and nodded his head. Then, he opened his mouth to read out the quote.
"'Villains are not born, they are created'. It's the quote you are talking about, right?"
"Yeah, every villain has a better, more painful story than the hero and Cao Xu is the same. I want to tell people his story through this special episode."
CEO Pan fell into a deep thought hearing that. He really felt that Director Chen Pu's proposal was good, but there were many factors involved in it.
What If the public didn't like «Slayers»? It has a really small chance of happening, but it can still happen. Moreover, he needed to talk about it with the broadcasting station.
The decision was in their hands.
"We need to talk about it with SKB."
For record, SKB was one of the national channels in China.
"I don't think they would reject considering that it's not an in-house production of theirs. Moreover, we can just go to other channels if it falls through."
CEO Pan smiled awkwardly hearing that.
It was easier for Director Chen Pu to say all that, but he would be the one to take losses. He had already invested too much in this project and can't take more risks.
"I will see and talk about it with them. Moreover, what will you say to the actors and actresses? They would surely object, saying that you are changing the ending at the last moment and making their work difficult."
"I will handle them. You don't need to worry about that."

"We need to make another contract for a special episode with his agency and would Xin Ren agree to another episode?"

"I think Ren would be more excited about this than even me."
