Chapter 489: I’m Out
Dammit! He got me in the corner! Long Shen cursed inside. He knew what Lu Chen's words implied. He was insinuating that he brought a fake jade because he was stupid.
And both options were bad for him. It was either leaving the venue or calling himself stupid for not figuring out the jade was fake. Both were a smear to his reputation. In the end, Long Shen decided on the latter,
"Yes. It was my mistake for not checking the jade with a jeweler." Long Shen apologized to Liu Dingxiang. But for others, it made him look stupid. Liu Shoushan and Liu Dingxiang looked at him with a frown.
Long Shen knew he couldn't leave. If he left now, it would be even more embarrassing. There were still things he needed to do at this venue.

"It would be worse for your reputation if you kicked Long Shen out right now." He added this to help Long Shen out.

The biggest thing for the family was reputation. That was the thing they valued.
Liu Dingxiang calmed down as he looked at Long Shen, "You can stay. Liu Shoushan, watch over him." But that didn't mean Long Shen wasn't going to get punished. There was no way Long Shen could be let loose after what he did.

Lu Chen smiled, "No problem. You just made a mistake. That's all." Lu Chen continued to rub it in. But then he sighed, "I guess it's time to take my leave."
"Hmm? Xiao Chen, are you going back home?" Zhang Wenling asked. Lu Chen shook his head as he brought Song Yanmei closer to him,
"I'm going on a date." Lu Chen was mischievous as he asked Song Yanmei, "Did you forget our promise?"
"..." Song Yanmei nodded weakly. She thought Lu Chen would forget about it!
"Well, then. Time for our date. I'm out; please be safe." Lu Chen didn't think about it as he walked out of the building with Song Yanmei in his hand.
