Chapter 126 Remembrance Week! by Harem-Fan
That night, my father-in-law, Hana's father, was so thrilled with the state win and hopes I will take us to win the Eurasia Cup at the end of the year. South City University had been buying ringers for the last 20 years, and prevented us from going to the Nationals.
From what I heard, the odds of running into Masters is higher in the Nationals Tournament, so I can find some fun bouts.
No University this week, so our time to just lounge around has opened-up for us all, and I plan on going out on more dates, work on my business, and visit the girls' families.

Around 11 pm, I tucked Mary into bed and told her I would go out for a bit, but I would be back before she wakes up. Seeing my look she could guess what I really wanted to do, but she let me go anyway.
Because of the snow, I bundled up and used my stealth to leave the house. I am not doing anything bad, just want to beat the crowds and alone, visit my father first, so I can say what I want without holding back in-front of the girls.

After waving to the security guards I walked out of the compound, and as I was near my old BMW I parked on the main road, I noticed someone had entered my car due to the snow on it being disturbed. Stealth is harder in bad weather like this.
Recognizing it was Mei in the passenger seat, I get in the driver's seat.
"How did you know I was coming?"
"Rick, I would be a bad lover if I could not guess what you are thinking, so I am coming. I want to do the same thing."
Mei is in her off duty mode. She is wearing her bluejeans, white-sweater, and bomber-jacket. Plus she isn't calling me Master. This is such a rare sight for me, I find this side of her cute. I started the car and slowly drove, and she smiled seeing I am bringing her along.
"Mei, we were going as a group before, so why did you sneak out with me?"
Mei unwrapped two Tootsie-pops, one cherry and the other chocolate. She put the last one in my mouth. After she licked the cherry she told me something shocking.
"Even if you did not go tonight, I would have gone alone. I need to burn incense for your father."
"Why my father? Is it because of my grandfather or something?"
She pulled the lollipop from her lips and leaned over to kiss my chocolate flavored lips, while we were at a light, then she sat back down and spoke.
"I told you I was saved by a spy, right?"
"You told me in the beginning, when you were 7 and he trained you to be a double agent for Eurasia, yeah I remember."
"I did not have parents, and he raised me for a short time, to teach me how to survive in this world. But, he passed away before I could see him again. He gave me my first Cherry Tootsie-pop, and he ate the Chocolate ones. He would even tell me stories before bed, about the wonderful Disneyland park he took his little boy to."
I slowly pulled over and put the car into park. When I looked at Mei, her eyes were wet. My heart tightened a bit, because I know what she is trying to tell me. I just had no idea my father was more than a Police Officer. I let out a deep breath and started to use my calming exercises, as I assessed her words.
"Mei, I am fine, go on with your story."
To reassure her, I took her cold hand into my hand, so she can tell I love her and am not letting my feelings cloud my thoughts.
"When he was in the China Empire, he used a different name, so I had no idea you were his child before I came to you. I really hated my actions. Hurting the son of my foster father, what kind of joke was that. I wanted to make it up to you, so I took the mission. Not because of your father, grandfather, but just you."
I know there is more to the story, but she probably has told me Top Secret things she should not have, so I won't push, but I do say.
"Just tell me what you can and when you are comfortable with it. I know you have reasons for secrets, so just know I love you, and I am glad my father saved you, because I would not have been able to love you if he didn't."
Holding her lollipop in her hand she leans in and gives me a passionate kiss, giving me her feelings. I can taste her salty tears with the taste of cherry, and shortly, she sat back in her seat. She put her cherry-pop back in and said.
"Let us go, I want to tell him that I went to Disneyland with his son, and... I love him very much. And you cannot lie to the dead."
She already wiped her tears and is back in her normal mode. I can tell she had been dying to tell me just this much all this time. I pulled back into the street...

Star City Public Crematory and Cemetery...
Only the nobility, in the nobles graveyard, use caskets and bury the bodies of their family members, like in my old world. Probably a ritual brought by a past me.
For 90% of the civilized humans in Pangaea, we cremate our dead, then shallowly bury the ashes to return us to the earth. Most humans do not like the idea of maggots eating our bodies after death, feeding the lowest of lifeforms. Plus, by cremating bodies, many plagues of my last Earth were avoided on this Earth.
We still use headstones however to show the place of rest, and for burning incense on top of the stone.
So it is rumored that if your body is left out and not cremated or properly buried, you can't enter reincarnation. Well, it is a good method for humans to properly take care of the dead, and show respect.
Even as a noble, I will still want cremation, due to growing up being taught about worms and maggots nesting in you. Sure I don't need my body when I go, but damn, it's just an ugly thought.
Mei and I are walking in the dark snow covered cemetery, and we are arm in arm, just slowly making our way to my fathers grave. This is Mei's first time here because she did not know my dad's true name before, so she could not visit.

Deep inside the cemetery we had noticed a few people here burning incense at midnight, the hour it starts, wanting to be first. So when Mei and I neared my fathers and mothers stone, I froze because there was a man already burning incense on the top of my father's grave.
He was as tall as me, but more muscular, wearing a cloak with his hood up to cover himself from the snow. His cloak was white in color, alluding to a non-criminal. But what shocked me was the aura of a Grandmaster coming from him. His every movement screamed danger. A simple flick of his fist, could end a normal man's life.
I slowly moved Mei behind me, and the man spoke without turning his head.
[We are not fighting today. This is a sacred day, so no fighting, with fist or words. I will be done shortly.]
I really had the urge to yell at him, but his words are right. Mei held onto my arm and sank into my back, afraid of this man striking her down. Not that he would, but his skill gives others an illusion of seeing an executioner.
Soon after the man said a few words to the smoke, he then walked past me and stopped beside us, not once letting us see him. He said.

Without me being able to dodge or avoid it, his gloved hand landed on my shoulder and patted it, he then said to Mei.

She slid to my front and the warm air from her breath was making steam. Now she is blatantly hugging my waist and I don't know what to do with my arms. Her eyes look challenging at me, but she speaks.
"I will burn some for your father, but I really wanted to see you first. Oh, and if you don't want me to hug you, just push me away."
I roll my eyes at her because she slightly tightens her hold on me. I see Mei look at us, and I can swear, she is complaining to my father about Lucy. Well that is what my gut is telling me. Seeing Lucy kneeling in-front of the stone, I noticed Mary's mothers name is also Lucy. So it was not the anime that made me say the name but Mary's mother must have been who my brain thought of. Both women had black hair and blue-eyes. Lucy is a common name like Chris, Tony, Kim, Kimberly, and even Rick.
