Pfft… What the hell is that?

Did Hajin just create his own Archnemesis? If Hajin is a real villain then he is one scary motherfucker, but I bet it is the coincidence, sudden spurs of thoughts, and his luck finally accumulating in a snowball.

Hajin has exceeded what he is meant to do. With what happened, I don’t even need to put the contingencies in place that I have in mind to reduce suspicion of the Goblin being him.

I mean… Come on!

Kim Hjain just challenged the Goblin during the broadcast! And it just has to happen that the Goblin is actually Hajin’s secret identity! That is so sick!

After Hajin’s stunts, the whole of Korea has gone crazy. Even outside Korea, the cadet has become a superstar in a matter of minutes. His press conference gets reuploaded on various social media platforms even without me having a hand with it.

I cannot imagine how much SP we can splurge on the tower.

That is not where the hysteria ends. After we update the Hajin Page with products using new technology based on the Goblin’s tech, all kinds of people join the craze. The Goblin Bike is especially a hot-selling pancake!

People are speculating when the two new rising stars will rise again. Not to my surprise, Hajin now has a fan club that calls themselves Technomanacers which is very supportive of Hajin’s image. I then joined the club only to get shell-shocked that Kim Hosup is one of its founding members.

The most surprising thing though is that the Goblin also now has a fan club, and while they are not against the Technomancers, the assortment of people in their group are kind of scary… a different kind of scary from being associated with a super criminal. They call themselves the Goblin Support Group.

Their organization’s name sounds boring, but damn, I almost choked on my own spit after doing a background check on them. The Goblin Support Group includes activists, lawyers, middle-schoolers, high-schoolers, retired heroes, retired hunters, and even a few active hunters.

Initially, I have my suspicions on this group thinking of them as some infernal ploy by our enemies. However, after careful research and consideration, I realize this group is actually sincere. They apparently are a group of people who think of the Goblin as an Anti-Hero. From how I understand this fan club, they are formed by people who are oppressed by the Hero Association.

I count in their dossier a great number of orphans.

My mind whirs into the Kwang-Oh incident, Kim Chundong’s origin story.

I should spend time properly investigating this group. Rachel and Jonghak must become strong as as they can, and I cannot interrupt them from their training. That means I cannot involve Nayun and Suho from this side quest as I like to call it. Hajin is also out as he will be severely busy on upgrading the Tower.

This leaves me doing this job by myself. I should at least inform the others before I move. I cannot be too careful. The problem is I cannot leave Cube officially, and I have to sneak out like how Hajin did to accomplish his Goblin word.

Cube’s security is at an all-time high.

I cannot imagine how the security will fare once the so-called festival starts. I really cannot imagine the Combat Exam what it is like, (something in the novel considered already a festive event) after being upscaled, and transforming into a more festive event than it is.

I send my comrades with an e-mail telling them I will be out tomorrow to do an errand.

Droon feels uneasy.

His instinct is telling him something is wrong, but no matter how much he scours the internet, dark net, and the information circulating from various channels, Droon cannot find any deception to the rise of Kim Hajin, the sensational cadet who has subjugated a powerful Djinn as a freshman, revolutionized gun technology, and invented a powerful detecting tool against Djinns.

“Is all of this achievement even possible for a cadet?”

To be fair, Droon is not even a cadet, yet he is actually very powerful. To be harsh, he is still threading middle school as per his circumstances. To be a lot more generous, he can be considered a high schooler if his mental age is taken seriously. That is how he at least assesses himself in his mind.

There is definitely a hidden force at work. Droon reaches this conclusion finding self-reprief on the monstrosity of the so-called Gunner’s genius. There is no way a cadet, an orphan not to boot who has debt of 300, 000, 000 won when he enrolls in Cube, to be able to muster the resources that Kim Hajin did. This makes Kim Hajin a very suspicious person in Droon’s eyes.

However, Droon cannot also dismiss the other possibility which is that Kim Hajin might actually be a genius. Droon recalls the information he receives from Jain in passing. It is not even information, but a rumor that the Great Sage’s inheritance is hiding dormant within Cube. Kim Hajin after gaining access to this inheritance suddenly becomes a tech genius. Now, this is a very likely story.

If Droon observes it without bias, no matter how unlikely, the latter happening is more likely than the former. Droon cannot see Hajin being backed by an organization. If Hajin is really being used as a front, then there will be obvious signs. Moreover, the fact that Hajin is an average cadet from Agent Military Academy having average academic grades, is now suddenly someone with incredible academic abilities rises to several questions.

If it is an enlightenment, and something that has come from awakening a gift, then Kim Hajin’s rise should not be so flashy and drastic.

Droon’s abilities include projecting and materializing anything he experiences with his five senses. It is a skill under his Gift which is on the level of an Authority. This is the reason why Droon is also grinding his proficiency with technology.

In combination with his own tech skills, he can become a formidable information gatherer of Chameleon Troupe. Droon sends one of his drones which is a materialized fly from his magic power. He has it clung to Kim Hajin 24/7 so that he can trace his whereabouts.

Droon’s research of Cube is part of his responsibilities as recon. He has done well in reviewing the facilities, and finally, when they begin to move, he can offer his insights in a more accurate way.

Every little effort counts. If he wants to contribute, he must do his best. Because of his age, the others tend to baby him. Droon sends a message to the Boss, requesting him to give permission to use more of their resources to perfectly map Cube.

Shortly after, Droon receives an affable reply.

Droon grins at the thought of finally being of use. Rarely does 'teamwork' is asked when they do their missions, but now, it seems that Droon has his greatest role yet.

Wearing a beanie, some light makeup courtesy to Yoenha, and also ripped jeans makes a nice disguise. While at it, I also am able to try a different fashion, which is all nice and good. I also have the peace sign necklace on my neck that hippies tend to wear.

I am being as cool as I want to be…

I come to the Goblin Support Group’s base of operations. In front of me is a feeding program where all kinds of homeless form a line from what appears to be an abandoned factory.

I join the line, utilizing my time resourcefully by sizing up everyone. To my untrained eyes, everyone here looks like homeless people, if not, people who are in their tried times. I should know better. Maybe a Djinn is hiding in plain sight. Or maybe, some villains who are colluding with Djinn forces and even Devils.

I activate one of the few option abilities of [Witch King] which is [Wisdom]. This ability allows me to appraise anything and anyone within my sight. I cannot use the ability of the [Witch King] when it is not summoned. I cannot really freely use it at its complete state as it is too eye-catching and I am planning on incorporating the [Witch King] on my attire during work hours as a Sinful.

However, despite the hassle, it doesn’t stop me from using a Transfiguration Potion on the Witch Hat so that I can turn it into a beanie. When I arrive at the end of the line where they are giving hot porridge with a generous amount of meat, I freeze at my place, my jaw slack.

In front of me is an unremarkable woman. She wears thick glasses and baggy clothes. Her sky blue hair stands in strong contrast to what I call commoner hair mainly brown or black, despite that, there is this groundedness in her. Embossing on her nametag is a very familiar name— it reads ‘Jin Sahyuk’.
