I make my way down to the tavern's dining room, eager for a hearty breakfast. The tantalizing aroma of grilled meat and sausages fills the air, and my stomach growls in response. After all the hard work last night, my appetite feels insatiable—I feel like I can easily devour an entire cow.
At a table near the window, Yumi and Hana are already seated.
“Good morning, Yumi. Morning, Hana,” I greet them cheerfully.
“Jack!” Yumi's eyes light up with joy upon seeing me. “You’re awake! And... your injuries... they've vanished!”
“Yes, I'm all better now,” I respond with a hearty laugh.
Then, taking a seat at the table, I waste no time in ordering twenty strips of bacon, ten sausages, and thirty eggs.
The girls then watch me eat with eyes wide in shock.
“Can– can you really finish all of that food?” Yumi asks.
“Of course!” I reply.
That’s a mountain of food, but because the 'legendary onii-chan skill' comes with a 500% bonus in muscle growth, I need all the protein and calories that I can get. I believe I've lost some muscle from being on bed rest for so long, so it's time to build them up again.
A few moments later, Sophia joins us for breakfast, though she appears to be in a zombie-like state.
“Mas...ter...” she groans, her voice strained. “Huhu...I can’t walk...” tears well in her eyes as she speaks.
Contrary to my energetic demeanor, Sophia looks utterly drained. It’s the polar opposite of how I feel—energized and full of life. It’s probably because I went a little bit extreme with her last night. We were wild!
“Then make sure you eat plenty!” I respond with a chuckle. “Sophia, I need you to recover for tonight.”
“Haaa? You're absolutely evil!” she exclaims. “Master, are you a monster?”
“Yeah! You didn’t know?”
Observing our banter, Yumi can't help but snicker. “Jack, I'm not sure what exactly happened between you two, but try to be gentler next time. Remember, she's a girl. Girls shouldn’t be hit, even with a flower!”
“Oh? But what if the girl begged me to spank her in the butt?”

Sophia spits out her drink, her face beet red.
“No! Sophia is an adult. Why would you spank her?” Yumi tilts her head.
Oh my, I just love her innocence.
And even Hana joins in. “Please don’t spank Ms Sophia, she’s a good girl!”
“Well, what do you think, Sophia?” I turn and tease. “Are you a good adult, or a naughty kid?”
“M-Master!!!”
And I have a good laugh after that.
Looking at the chemistry of the team right now, I feel relieved. It seems Yumi and Sophia have managed to patch things up. After uncovering Sophia’s previous actions at the castle, Yumi had a stern conversation with her. I'm just glad they’ve managed to move past it and now see each other as true allies.
And now, if we are already allies, there’s something I must do.
“Sophia, look at me,” I gently request.
With a turn of her head, our eyes lock onto each other’s.
“Mas…ter?” she inquires.
“I just want to express my deepest gratitude. If it weren't for you, I wouldn’t be here right now,” I tell her sincerely. “Thank you for saving my life.”
Sophia seems quite surprised after hearing my words. Her eyes widen, her cheeks a little pink.
“Erm… well, I was just doing what needed to be done. And besides…” she responds modestly. “If you die, then I die too.”
“Even so, you’ve been extraordinary.” I say, and then, with a gentle touch, I place my hand on her slave collar and whisper softly, “You deserve this. Release.”
With a soft clang, the slave collar falls to the ground.

Sophia is stunned. It takes her another couple seconds to process what just happened. And then, tears start to form in her eyes. She then tries so hard to wipe the tears away.
“Hey, is something wrong? Don’t you want your freedom?” I ask.
“I… I do!” Through her tears, she manages a trembling reply. “But are you certain about this, Master?”
"Yes" I say, "and please, no more 'Master.' From here on out, we stand as equals. You may call me Jack."
Her lips part, forming the name as if it were a newfound treasure. "Jack," she whispers.
"That's right. Let's reintroduce ourselves properly. Hi, I’m Jack," I smile, "welcome to the team."
I extend my hand, and she takes it, her smile radiating through her tears.
